AMT 71 Duster quarter windows
Rob Hall replied to spkgibson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The '69/70 Mustang Sportsroof (fastback) has the same type of quarter window as the Duster. Alas, the old MPC '69 kit (reissued countless times) lacks them. And almost every 1:64th scale diecast lacks them... -
From Japan, 3 sets of new Aoshima wheels, the Tamiya Aston Martin DBS, and the Revell of Germany Mercedes 560SEC.

Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The rear wheelwell openings seem different also..the red car seems to have a raised lip around the opened up wheelwell opening, but the primer one doesn't seem to...also, the red car has a blacked out grille.. -
Speaking of the McLaren SLR 722, are the wheels the only difference from the regular SLR kit? I have the regular one but passed on the 722..

Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
One key detail I've noticed from the magazine pics of Hemi Darts are the swiss-cheesed seat tracks. The resin seats I got from a certain resin caster have that detail. -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes, I have both of those AF/X kits...pretty nice. I think the 1:1 '67-69 Dart 2dr sedan shared it's roof w/ the Valiant. The AF/X Hemi Dart incl. the body w/ the opened rear wheel wells, hood w/ scoop, and decklid..I also got a set of the special seats from them (separate from the Dart kit). Got to build it eventually as one of the primer gray and black Hemi Darts. -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look

There is a nice '68 Dart GTS in pale yellow w/ dds, steelies and redlines in 'Mopar Milestones' magazine this month. Would be a nice way to build this kit also. -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I haven't even started my '62 or '66 Impalas...still haven't started my Revell '65 Impala convertible kit from years ago...alas, my buy-to-finish ratio is pretty poor... -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So it sounds like the body in this kit may be the same as that in the previous Sox & Martin issue? That was a '68 w/ no vinyl top...don't recall if it had GTS emblems or not, though. -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look

Some vendors list it for August, some September. Soon, sounds like. -
Revell 1968 Hemi Dart - First Look
Rob Hall replied to Len Carsner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nice...I'll probably get a couple, do one as a Hemi drag car and one as a Hemi street machine. I have one of the earlier '68 kits w/ a resin Hemi transkit (separate decklid, opened out rear fenders, A-100 seats, steelies) that I want to do as one of the primer gray/black cars that I've seen photos of. -
'simpler' definitely doesn't imply 'better', IMO. In olden days, that TV w/ rabbit ears was often B&W and tiny, lucky to get a few channels (remember when TVs had UHF and VHF)? No remote. Now I've got my 60 inch flat screen HDTV, over 100 channels, DVR, DVD player, etc...a lot more cool gadgets today.. I remember having a Commodore 64 computer in the '80s and later dial up internet w/ BBSes 20 years ago...now I have laptops w/ wireless broadband at home, a 'smartphone' cell phone that I can surf the web on, etc. (though I'll admit I'm a computer engineer, and love technology, gadgets, and computers... ) I haven't regularly driven a car w/ a carb in 20 years.

My excuse also..I was born in '70. I barely remember the late '70s.

Use your eyebrow or facial hair color? I've been shaving my head off and on for over 10 years now...my current passport pic is of me w/ my head shaved.

'69 Plymouth Barracuda notchback
Rob Hall replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's going to be really sweet. Love the hood and color scheme. -
I like that color..I ordered one from Hobby Search over the weekend. Think I will do mine a dark green.
-
They always seem to be silver, black, or white around here... lots of SLs with IMHO tasteless giant chrome bling wheels...I like the styling of the '02-'08 version, but the front facelift this kit shows off is particularly effective. It probably helps that about a mile from me is a major M-B dealer, so I see plenty close to home as well as out in the burbs.
-
Sharp build. It's a sweet kit...I got mine last month, haven't started it. I see quite a few of these in 1:1 around, esp. in Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, in stock and blinged styles. Not sure how I want to do mine...thinking about a color scheme that is classy and subtle.

Got the Aoshima gold BBS wheels in the mail Friday, ordered the Tamiya Aston Martin DBS and 3 sets of Aoshima wheels on Friday...scored an AMT '60 Buick convertible box on eBay today, needed that for my restorable builtup kit that I got at a local model show last year.

About the '66 Shelby GT350 (I see it and the '69 Mustang are out now), I don't recall R-M previously doing a regular '66...I remember the original Monogram '65 white w/ blue stripes Shelby kit (built that one back in the day), the '66 GT350H thats been reissued several times (have a couple of those), and the GT350R race car (ditto). But I don't recall a regular '66 Shelby...

Sweet...I love those '80s Mercs...

It's the shaping of the headlight buckets and the top ends of the front fenders...in 1:1, they angle back from the grille towards the sides in the horizontal plane, but stay relatively flat relative to the hood in the vertical plane, but on this Revell body they angle back and slope downward...so when viewed head on, it looks odd.
