Mission Impossible car...
Rob Hall replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not bad..mine is in similar condition, been stripped and has some glue globs in various places. Windshield frame intact. I have two of the '69 boxes, have my '68 Coronet R/T convertible in the other box. My '68 and '69 Coronet R/T hardtops are in similar condition, w/ original boxes and instructions, and plenty of Modelhaus resto parts. -
The old Revell '56 2dr sedan w/ trim for the 150/210/Bel Air (molded in metallic green, 1978 vintage) was the first glue kit I ever built as a kid. 'Bad Dream' indeed. I have the '80s 'Hot Rod' issue Revell '55 ht and '57 Nomad. Luckily, I've been able to avoid the Monogram 1:24th tri-fives, all of which have proportion issues as far as I can tell..

I'd rather see a '56 Bel Air hardtop, since Revell already did a '56 Del Ray sedan. The only '56 hardtop kit around is the weak Monogram 1:24th one.

Mission Impossible car...

That's the MPC '69 Dodge Coronet R/T convertible annual. Builds stock or 'Mission: Impossible' versions. Neat kit, I have one in my stash. -
Right..AMT did a '55 Nomad 45+ years ago (a very good tool that held up well through countless reissues, IMHO) and in the 80s/'90s did a '55 Bel Air 2dr sedan based on it. The gaps I see that Revell could fill from their tri-five tooling would be a '56 Bel Air 2dr ht and convertible, '57 Bel Air convertible and '57 Nomad. The resin world has sedan delivery and 4dr sedan body styles covered, I'd like to see some 2- and 4dr wagons and 4dr hts. In 30+ years in hobby, I've managed to avoid the old Monogram 1:24th tri-fives, though I have a few of the fiddly opening-door Revell 1:25th ones.
-
I like the AMT also, but they only did one bodystyle for the '57. I like how Revell has approached their tri-fives with several bodystyles, trim levels, and years from a set of common tooling. I'd like to see a '57 Bel Air convertible and Nomad tooled up.

The chassis on the 57 Bel Air and 150 kits appears to be the same as the chassis on the '56 Nomad (separate gas tank). I don't have a '56 Del Ray handy to compare. The chassis on the '55 Bel Air ht is very similar, except it has the gas tank molded in place.

I hope we're done now!!

75 and sunny here in Phoenix today. Boring. Talked w/ my Mom in E. Ohio...they've had it pretty bad there the last couple of weeks, lots of snow, a couple power outages. My sister is working in SC currently and couldn't fly home to Phoenix last night, was snowing at the airport in Columbia. Sounds like it's unusual to get snow there. The biggest storm I remember as a kid is the blizzard of Jan. '78, was in E. Ohio at the time. I experienced a lot of huge snows from '97-08 when I was living in Colorado. -
Impressive weathering work..made plastic look like rusty metal.

Cool..a model built 'Black Bandit' style. I have a few kits I plan to do BB style (Black Bandit is a reference to the Greenlight 1:64th diecast series of black cars/trucks w/ black wheels, some gloss black, some flat or matte).

congratulations Saints!
Rob Hall replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great game. Since my Broncos and Steelers weren't in it, had to cheer for the Saints. Great Dodge Charger ad. Enjoyed the half time show. -
Cool..I think my pool guy has a white Silverado or Sierra... I'm never home when he comes by every Thursday.

I remember that movie. Watched it one night about 10 years ago when I had insomnia and couldn't sleep.

1966 Ford Mustang fastback - Year One replica
Rob Hall replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Sweet...looking forward to seeing how this turns out. -
I got my first one last week at the LHS, ordered another one yesterday along w/ another 150 from my usual online kit vendor. Here's some inspiration for a street machine build--on Autoblog today. 57 Sleeper

I'd expect Fujimi to do a 458 before Tamiya...Tamiya hasn't done a new Ferrari in a long time, Fujimi has been putting out a lot of Ferrari kits in recent years..

The 'Sod Buster' is the '81 Chevy 1:25th scale annual. I'm pretty sure I have that one in my stash. IIRC, I have all the MPC '78 or 79 and up stock Chevy and GMC truck kits.
-
Stopped by my LHS this afternoon and picked up the new Revell '57 Bel Air 2dr sedan 2n1 and the reissue '60 Impala 2n1...both cool kits. Great way they packaged the parts in the '57--4 separate chrome trees.

Daisy Dukes '74 Road Runner Has Been Released!
Rob Hall replied to Custom Hearse's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Round 2 hasn't included more optional parts from the original issue, have they? There were some optional parts in the '80s issue (the one molded in orange that said 'GTX' on the box...a front air dam and Superbird rear wing, IIRC. The box art I've seen for the original '74 showed parts for a Baja racer version. IIRC, my '80s issue has the Road Runner scripts and birdies molded on the body, but the reissue from around 2004 doesn't have them. The '73-74 Road Runners and Chargers are the only original MPC Road Runners and Chargers of that era I don't have..I have the the original '71 GTX kit (some of my favorite box art ever), the '71 and '72 Road Runners, and the '71 and '72 Chargers. -
A couple OLDs have it listed as an April release.

Sweet build. Very nice to see a buildup of a kit I'd heard was 'unbuildable'.
-
Got my 2nd and 3rd Revell '72 Cutlasses in the mail yesterday, and a resin '68 Coronet R/T twin-scoop hood to use on one of my MPC '68 restos eventually.
