  1. True enough..I love those '60s annuals...somehow I also ended up w/ 4 AMT '68 Cougars.
  2. Yeah, in my spreadsheet I have columns to track where they are--home or in storage, which box they are in (I number my 12x12x16 storage boxes), which storage unit, which state (AZ, CO, OH).
  3. Sharp build..I ordered the plain one from HLJ, it's on the way..
  4. I've done that some, the problem I've had w/ relying on memory alone is it can be faulty...I've ended up buying dupes of some items over the years because I forgot I already had one (like Johan '65 Cadillac Coupe de Villes or AMT '68 T-birds..)
  5. Maybe I can watch some live streaming footage on my phone over the weekend... Though I'll be in the mountains part of the weekend w/ limited cell coverage.
  6. I remember buying the MPC '87 Mustang GT kit around the same time I got my 1:1 '87 Mustang GT new...
  7. That would be cool...IIRC, in the movie 'The Dark Knight' Bruce Wayne had a Lamborghini..don't recall if it was a regular Murcielago or a Reventon.
  8. Great...that's what I figured. I have an extra LN Short Hauler in my stash somewhere... I just got in the mail a '70s era C600 City Delivery kit that I got off eBay..was advertised as complete except for the decals, but I found it to be missing the parts for the box as well...at least it was cheap...
  9. Cool...F1 and Indy Car are my favorites--followed both for 30+ years.. followed by World Sportscar, ALMS and Grand Am...I like DTM, BTCC and World Touring Car, and V8 Supercars also...I do watch some NASCAR as well.. I used to follow WRC but none of my channels cover it these days.. Going to the 24 Hours of LeMans (and the 24 Hours of Daytona) and a couple European F1 races are on my long term race fan to-do list; I've been to the Indy 500, the Daytona 500, the Long Beach Grand Prix, and assorted other Indy Car and NASCAR races... (sometimes I wish I could have seen Le Mans in the late 60s-early 70s, or the Targa Florio, or F1 in the '60s-70s..or the Mille Miglia before that...but then I'd be really old today).
  10. Is the box body on the '70s era AMT Ford C600 City Delivery truck similar to that of the often-reissued AMT Ford Louisville Short Hauler? Wondering if I could use the body from the Louisville kit on a C600...
  11. I'll have to try and tiVo some of it and the Canadian GP this weekend...alas, I'll be in Denver for the weekend.
  12. The thing this interesting, though, is that diecast makers are much quicker to market w/ new designs than styrene kit makers...higher sales expectations and cheaper tooling costs, maybe? I'd love to see the '11 Charger, 300C, Durango and Grand Cherokee tooled up in 1:25th, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. An updated '11 Challenger SRT8 392 would be easy enough for Revell, though.
  13. Excel spreadsheets...
  14. I suspect those V8 Miatas handle like pigs, though...they weren't designed for a heavy V8 up front..the whole point of the Miata is it's a light, nimble sports car, not a straight-line musclecar...
  15. Or a BMW 3-series cabrio..another very popular woman's car...or the New Beetle cabrio.. One 'chick' car (that sounds so 1970s) that I wouldn't hesitate to drive is a Miata..they are a lot of fun on winding back roads...
  16. I've bought over 1000 items on eBay over the last 14 years...maybe 250 old models, some promos, lots of diecast, Japanese models from sellers in Japan and Hong Kong, etc. Only had a handful of transactions go bad. As the internet flea market, there is a bit of everything on there...I even bought a driver's seat and seat track for my 1:1 Jeep on eBay a couple years ago and had it FedExed to me... The key to successful buying, IMO, is to check the seller's feedback, their ratings, how long theyv'e been on eBay, etc. I've bought from some sellers many times over the years without a problem..
  17. Sweet. Love those big Fords.
  18. I have about 30 unbuilts here at home in Phoenix...and 100 12x12x16 packing boxes in my Colorado Springs storage unit, 75 in my Denver storage unit, 10 in my Phoenix storage unit...each packing box has 10-12 kits. I plan to consolidate everything in one place in another state eventually.
  19. I wouldn't compare a 40 yr old anything with a modern car..too many different parameters and changes. Comparisons are only of value when comparing two models of the same year/same era. Otherwise, it's pretty pointless...
  20. I got my first one yesterday also... glad to see they tooled the fasicas separately, this will enable variations without a new body (like the upcoming Shelby version). I hope they tool up the 5.0 engine to do an '11 and up GT and do a Boss 302 eventually.. I am a bit disappointed they boxed it as a 'Special Edition' but there are no extras..they could have at least tooled up some of the optional gingerbread like quarter window louvers, hood scoop, etc that I've seen on cars on the dealers' lots. Sounds like that is how they are going to release the '10 Camaro SS kit, w/ some extras.
  21. I don't know why a thread about a Ford engine turned into a Corvette thread, but some current rumors on GM blogs about the next gen Corvette are that it will still be a V8 only, but likely a smaller displacement (4.0 or 5.5 litres). Differing intel indicates that it will stay a pushrod design or that it may be a new twin turbo DOHC V8 (which seems unlikely).
  22. I usually see it as USDM or NA to cover both the US and Canada markets.
  23. Nonsense..the Cavalier was a GM design..Toyota sold them in Japan as Toyota Cavaliers as reciprocity for GM selling NUMMI-built models in NA like the Chevy Prizm and Pontiac Vibe (both of which were Toyota-based).
  24. I assume Ford will use this engine in the Ka, Fiesta, the upcoming B-Max and probably also the Focus and C-Max in some markets...
  25. Yes, the current Corvette is in it's 7th model year..definitely time for a new one. But it has absolutely nothing to do with a Ford 3cyl...a non-sequitor thread diversion?
