  1. Very cool... a '32 RPU would be a neat choice for Revell's next '32 Ford variation...
  2. My 20th reunion last year is what got me on. I've caught up with a lot of people from high school, college, people I've worked with, friends, even my current boss (which is a little odd). Rob
  3. The MPC '70-74 kits have the non-shaker hood (the twin scoop hood). Overall, the MPC '70s are probably the best as far as body proportions and detailing. But, the AMT convertibles and the Revell coupe have easy availability and low price on their side, when compared to 35+ yr old kits.
  4. Maybe move it to the Rants and Raves section. And Krow, turn off the ALL CAPS and take a chill pill. Relax.
  5. And they are on Segways or driving Priuses.
  6. Great buildup, Tim. Any word on the street date for this kit? Still due this month?
  7. I haven't seen one in the Grabber Blue yet... I've only seen 6 so far... a silver V6 convertible, a black GT coupe, a bright red V6 convertible, a gorgeous dark blue GT coupe, a dark reg GT coupe, and a dark gray GT conv.. It's growing on me. Looking forward to driving one.
  8. I'm more in the mood for something stronger, like Texas Tea. It's hot here...time for a swim then a drink..
  9. Sounds like you need a tinfoil hat...sounds like a bunch of right wing loony ranting.
  10. Image is as important or more so than truth in selling consumer products like a car.
  11. Yes, there will be buyers for it. The price point is a concern, though... $40k for a...Chevy compact? That's a bit steep. The Prius has the image and mileage, but it's also cheap, so a wide range of people buy them--from normal folks to celebrities. The price limits the Volt's impact. If GM could build it for $30k, I could see it being more successful...
  12. Whether or not the Volt sells in mass quantities, the importance of it is to improve GM's public image. To a large portion of the public, GM is the builder of obese, gas guzzling trucks and SUVs, the company that 'Killed the electric car'. Toyota has the green image sewn up these days, Honda will probably make inroads w/ the new Insight. GM wants to improve their green image. The Volt is the anti-HUMMER. If the Volt can help improve GM's image, and GM is able to still make enthusiast-appealing cars like the Corvette, Camaro, CTS, etc, then that's progress...
  13. The Volt will be a lot cleaner than a 20 yr old Hyundai (they haven't made the Excel in years), though. For $40k, though, I'd rather have something more upscale than the Volt, that's more in the CTS price range.
  14. IIRC, when I got my '87 Mustang GT back in the day, I got A/C, tilt wheel, cruise control, AM/FM/cassette (later replaced w/ an aftermarket CD player), power mirrors, windows, intermittent wipers, rear defroster as options. It has manual seats cloth seats, no cupholder (grrr). I still have the original window sticker somewhere.
  15. Yeah, I can't see much demand for stripped down models. As far as Mustangs, the LX 5.0 was kind of like that back in the day. For me, I like my cars loaded with all the goodies.
  16. Sharp build..love the color and the wheels. I have one of those in my to-build closet.
  17. I grew up RVing...as a kid, my folks always had motorhomes..we would take road trips in the summer and use it to drive between our Ohio home and our Florida home. Lots of fun, rolling down the highway in a Winnebago.
  18. Yeah, interesting climate on the Front Range..the weather can change very quickly. I lived in Colo Springs 5 years, Denver 6 years (still have a condo there). I remember the huge spring snows, and Denver occasionally would get a run of 100 degree days in July-August. I miss going up into the mountains on the weekends, they are ok in Az, but nicer in Co.. I've found interesting aspects of the various places I've lived over the years...miss the fall colors, rolling hills, great roads but not the humidity and brutal winters of E. Ohio; miss the ocean and breezes of the Florida Keys, but not the humidity and hurricanes; miss the college town environment of Ann Arbor, Mi, but not the humidity and gray winters; miss the big city ambience and amenities of Chicago but not the winters and summers
  19. AZ only gets the triple digits between May and Sept, with the worst being July and Aug, and it's a dry heat (was 115 w/ 15% humidity on Sunday). Tolerable, as long as you have good AC (in the office, car, home) and a pool (which I have). I'm still thinking about moving back to Denver full time, though...don't care for the desert that much, and Denver is a much more interesting city w/ a better job market for my thing. I don't mind a little snow.
  20. Lots of other changes besides the headlights and taillights, though..they added a character line down the sides, lowered the front edge of the hood and fenders, changed the hood, added the kick up in the door and rear quarter, de-emphasized the wheel arches, changed the fascias, decklid shape, etc. Only the roof was unchanged. This is similar to 1999 when the '94-98 was updated, every panel changed except for the roof ('99 changed the C-pillar also). Overall, I like the changes more or less---don't care for the black lower trim (looks cheap). I like the interior changes, the materials seem nicer in the '10, and SYNC is available. Looking forward to the '11 engine upgrades.
  21. Was 115 here in Phoenix Sunday....15% humidity, though. It's a 'dry heat', they say. 115 is still hot, any way you look at it. But I grew up in E. Ohio and S. Florida, so I know humidity... Got to get back to Colorado some weekend soon, go up to the mountains. Last summer it was about as hot as this...about this time last year, my interior rear view mirror fell off from the heat. I had quite a weather shock last July also--went to my 20th HS reunion in Marathon, Florida---hot and humid, compared to AZ hot and dry. Fla was very uncomfortable!
  22. It's probably their most important program, so I don't think it will get killed. The Volt is GM's chance to have something green to compete with the Prius and Insight..
  23. Supposedly, late next year for MY '11. Along with the Cruze (Cobalt replacement), and eventually the Orlando, Viva (Aveo replacement), and Spark are coming in the next year or two. I'm not into small FWD cars, so none of those appeal to me, but I find the rumor that the G8 will be rebadged as a Caprice more interesting...
  24. I've seen about a dozen '10 Camaros so far, a couple up close in parking lots, and a few on the freeways around the Phoenix area and San Diego over the last couple weeks, and a couple on dealers lots. Looks great in person, really like the design. I'm slowly warming to the '10 Mustang design, I like the interior update more than the exterior changes.
