  1. Was a fun show...I went for about an hour, saw some builtups I recognized from the magazines (Hollywood Jim's incredible dioramas, to name one)...there was lots of talented modelers' work on display. I picked up a couple restorable oldies from the swap meet--AMT '60 Buicks, a ht and a convertible.
  2. That Aston sedan is going to be goregous, I think. My favorite expensive luxury sedans are the Merc CLS and Maserati Quattroporte. My favorite current Porsches are the Boxster and Cayman, esp. in 'S' form.
  3. My '00 Grand Cherokee has the back of the engine partially under the cowl...about the only thing I've done myself is check the fluids.
  4. Cool..I have the AMT promo and it's very nice. I want to do an R/T in white and an SRT8 in silver from the AMT kits...not sure how I will do the Revell versions, one stock, and I'd like to do some similar to the SEMA show cars...maybe a phantom convertible and one with a Viper drivetrain.
  5. My Jeep kind of has a cab forward design..the back of the straight 6 is under the cowl, reaching the rear most plug is probably a pain.
  6. Would love to go this year, but I will be in Denver next weekend. Best friend's 40th birthday party/cookout, can't miss that.
  7. Yeah, I'm amazed at the difference in maintenance of my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee as compared to older cars ('87 Mustang GT, '88 Bronco II) that I've owned in the past... my Jeep has almost 100k miles now, and still has the original exhaust!
  8. True 'nuff... other than checking the fluids occasionally between service intervals, there is nothing I do under the hood. I took my Jeep to the dealer the first few years, and have found good independent shops to do the dirty work at the service intervals in recent years...
  9. I believe the main reason is sound deadening...isolate engine noise. Esp. on luxury cars.
  10. This reminds me of an AMT bumper sticker I had years ago...said something like 'I LOVE (heart logo) Model Cars'. Had it on my '86 Mustang LX up till it was totalled. It was vinyl and weather proof, IIRC.
  11. Went to the Desert Scale Classic show & swap meet earlier (great show) and picked up a couple neat restorable oldies---the AMT '60 Buick Invicta ht and convertible.
  12. Yes, the AMT kits are unassembled promos. The Revell kit (supposedly due in June) is going to be a full detail SRT8.
  13. Looking forward to them. I assume the major parts (body, interior, chassis, chrome, etc) will be the same as the promo I got last year. Besides decals, I assume the only difference between the R/T and SRT8 are the wheels (since they are curbsides).
  14. Time Machine Resin makes an uptop for the Revell '69 Camaro, pretty nice, I have a couple of them. For a boot, well, the kits come with them.
  15. Planning to be there..
  16. That's cool..I'll have to look for one...always liked the DS, and love the SM (have Matchbox ones in 2 different scales).
  17. I'm used to the term being used by old school computer scientists... i.e. to grok something is to know it very deeply, inside and out. I think the term may have originated in the sci-fi world w/ Heinlein. I got into the computer world about 20 years ago, but have read extensively about the history of the industry and the geek world I work and live in. As far as grokable kits, I've been tempted to get the RoG bus... not sure when I'd build it, it would probably go to a storage unit with my other 1500 or so unbuilts. My RoG BMW 7 series and Merc 560SEL and Fujimi Enthusiast series Ferraris are fun to just sit and grok. I'm not into large scale kits, but I would love to grok the parts trees and instructions of Tamiya F1 kits and their large Lola and others..
  18. Compleat is a fun place...haven't been there in a while, but I used to go there several times a month when I lived in the Springs from '97-02.
  19. Yeah, any of those would be welcome..the B400 is such a cool bodystyle....I think Danbury or Franklin Mint did one.
  20. Ah, I forgot about that..I never thought of it as an SS, since it didn't have an SS hood. Though they now have an SS hood on the snap kit.
  21. Well, since they previously did a '69 Yenko Camaro and not an SS Camaro, I assumed they would be consistent.. And a B-M Nova will probably follow eventually, since they've done 3 other B-Ms.
  22. Vettel's 3 wheel driving was a high point for me...surreal.
  23. TiVoed the qualifying and the race.... watched qualifying last night, watching the race now...the ending is WILD...was a great race.
  24. Thanks..I couldn't remember how the AMT Nova was equipped. The Impala sounds like a good starting point, it's the only GM bench seat of that era in a kit I can think of right now...
