Late model ford bronco
Rob Hall replied to N~8~Ball's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have an extra AMT (ex-MPC) '82 Bronco reissue and a '92 AMT F150, thought about kitbashing the two. Someone posted one recently on one of the forums where they took the Monogram '80 and kitbashed with an R-M '88 F250 to do that era in 1:24th (the flat front '87-91). I looked at buying a '96 Bronco about 10 years ago...had an '88 Bronco II then. Ended up keeping the Bronco II until '00 and traded it on an '00 Grand Cherokee. -
Maybe Chrysler is giving them away to press, etc at auto shows or other events.

Winter is here...and it sucks
Rob Hall replied to VW Dave's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That house looks very similar to my buddy Kirk's house in Beaverton. I was there when there was a really nasty ice storm in December a few years ago. -
The AMT curbsides look like snap kits, should be decent though simplified..but what's up w/ the tires in the pic--it looks like partial axles on the wheel backs that stick into the chassis? Haven't looked closely at that aspect of my promo, but I would assume it has metal axles..

Even dead and gray like that, it does have it's charm. What part of the country is that? I know when I lived in Michigan the grayness and dampness of winter could weigh on me, but I was young and living in Ann Arbor at the time, so I was never bored. Though I found Colorado winters much nicer, a lot more sun and dry. -
Today I got an old Testors '48 Ford coupe from ebay in the mail. Neat kit, multi piece body. I've built the Revell '48s, never one of the Testors/IMC ones.

December is nice in Oahu..was there in early December in '06 for a few days.... and it was nice when I was there for a week in April 07. Will have to back and visit the other islands. Winter is great in AZ, but summer is another story... I'm going to try and split my year in '09, contract for 6-8 months in Denver and 4-6 months in Phoenix. -
Sweet..that Hornet SC/360 and '68 Plymouth are great. I have the '65-67 Plymouth hts and convertibles, but only the '68 4drs in my collection. I'll have to get the Hornet eventually, I definitely want to get ML's '71 Galaxie 4dr and '68 Mustang GT coupe. I got a bunch of goodies in the mail and via UPS today--had a bunch of boxes on the patio this afternoon---got another Revell '69 Nova and '68 Charger, the Revell Shelby GT-H, GT500, and GT500KR. Also got a resin '69 Cuda 440 Six Pak hood and '71 Plymouth Scamp from Bandit Resins--very nice!

Great movie... I have my red stapler in my cube. Office Space and Dilbert are very much reminiscent of my work experiences over the last decade..

Winter is here...and it sucks
Rob Hall replied to VW Dave's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's amazing... in 11 winters in Colorado, I don't think I've ever seen it that cold in December. Coldest I remember was a -19 in early February 2007 when i was living in Highlands Ranch. It's gray and rainy here in Phoenix this week, highs in the upper 50s, lows in the 40s. -

It's been a unusually cold, snowy winter so far (late fall, actually) back home in Denver..glad I'm in Phoenix currently. -
Tires for '70s MPC Duster Pro Stock kits?
Rob Hall replied to Rob Hall's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I think the Johan ones will do the trick...I checked one of my Johan '71 Cudas, and found it had two sets of the Pro Stock tires (two piece plastic rears). -
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Rob Hall replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I try and avoid the commercialism (and since I'm an atheist, the religous aspect) of the holiday, and just enjoy it as a few days off to spend w/ friends and family. I'll be flying back to Ohio Xmas eve this year..hopefully, the weather won't be horrid back there....then back to Phoenix for a few days then back to Colorado to spend New Years weekend w/ some friends. -
Look who just came by
Rob Hall replied to walt francis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That looks like it is a Power Wagon, but the cab is all square..totally different cab than the diecasts. I have a 1:24th scale Power Wagon diecast (green) I got a few years ago, not Danbury Mint, though... it was cheap, don't recall the brand--maybe Matchbox or ERTL. -
Kit of the Year....2008

Last year on the '49 Merc. -
Whats up with the Evil-Bay/

I still see auctions that say they don't accept PayPal and say MO only..I guess they didn't get the message. I've only bid on PayPal auctions for years...I don't have to time to deal w/ Money Orders..they seem like a quaint concept from long ago. -
The New Big 3 Ad
Rob Hall replied to RadRidesByDan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's going to be interesting to see what happens w/ the loans...and see how the big 3 fare in 2009. MY next new car will most likely be a 2010 Ford or GM product. I've had good luck w/ my Jeep, but most of the Chrysler products today (other than the GC and Challenger) don't appeal to me. The Japanese and Koreans have nothing that appeal to me, but I'd buy German again...loved my BMW. -
Revell Discontinuing NASCAR Model Kits
Rob Hall replied to larrygre's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ah yes..I started watching NASCAR in '79, definitely remember the early '80s cars...they looked so good....very stock looking but also quite the racing machines...they lost me when they started using the names from the FWD GMs but with RWD race cars in the late '80s. A description of NASCAR today I saw on another board was great---drop a box of Skittles in a toilet and flush it... -
Tires for '70s MPC Duster Pro Stock kits?
Rob Hall replied to Rob Hall's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Ok..vinyl, not hard plastic? I was looking at the slicks in the recent '77 Mustang II Firefighter kit, but they look a bit too wide to fit w/o tubbing the chassis. -
I recently picked up a couple '70s MPC Duster Pro Stock parts kits... a '72 and '73...got the bodies and trim, found some parts box wheels that look like pics I've seen of those kits (Mopar Missle and California Flash Pro Stock). But I'm not sure what tires would have been included w/ the kits--I probably have some old MPC slicks floating around my various parts boxes, but am not sure of what would be correct. Any aftermarket sources for '70s Pro Stock tires?

Revell Discontinuing NASCAR Model Kits
Rob Hall replied to larrygre's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Meh. I enjoyed NA$CAR when the cars looked kind of like real cars, and built a number of the excellent Monogram kits ias a kid n the early-mid '80s. I lost interest in NA$CAR when they started doing the fake nonsense--i.e. RWD race cars w/ the names of FWD production cars. -
Cool... I have '69 (351W) and an '87 (5.0).

I preordered from Dodge's website back in August. AMT has announced kit versions for '09--an R/T and an SRT8 like the promo. I assume we will see other colors of the promo in time.
