  1. Well, the Merc is a custom, so I wouldn't expect any of the panels to be stock.
  2. This is going to be cool...you going to put sidepipes on it? I'm thinking of doing something similar, using parts from the Revell '69 B-M Camaro. Still have plans to do a phantom B-M '70 Impala with the hood scoop, Cragars, side pipes, etc.
  3. Well, yesterday I got in the mail a cool restorable Johan '60 Dodge Phoenix ht I picked up from someone on a model mailing list. Also got in the mail from my favorite kit vendor another Revell '69 Nova and a Revell '02 Camaro and '98 Firebird T/A for parts (want to use the engines, seats, etc in some pro-touring style builds)>
  4. Mmm...booze. I could go for a mojito right now. Watching the election returns on CNN and drinking Fat Tires..
  5. Yeah, it's amazing how depending on the context, how people, even the most buttoned down people, can swear. I've been in corporate meetings where things got heated and it was a colorful as anything on HBO.... same with happy hours. I normally try and be professional and precise and avoid slang or profanity in my daily conversations, but in certain contexts of stress or frustration, I can be as colorful as Gene Hackman or Tony Soprano
  6. Cool..the wheels and police light make me think something like this might be what Starsky could have driven 5 years earlier, had he been a Chevy fan..
  7. I vaguely remember my folks using layaway at Sears and Penneys when I was a kid in the mid '70s.
  8. That is a really sharp build...love the wheel/tire combo and engine detailing.
  9. Looks like some good stuff coming from Lindberg. I didn't see in the box art pics the Challenger concept, Rampage concept, or Demon concepts that they showed mock up box art for last year... are those dead?
  10. No Revell pics?
  11. Cool...driving out to Breckenridge was one of my favorite weekend getaways when I lived in Denver..went out there probably 8-10 times a year, summer and winter.
  12. I never did really quit, but did very little from about 1986 through 1996, from a junior in HS in Florida through college in Ohio and grad school in Michigan. But in the mid '90s, when I was living in Ann Arbor, MI I discovered the Rider's hobby shop, bought a few kits, and then went to the Toledo Toy Show a couple of times and got hooked again. Then in the late '90s working and living in Colorado, after discovering ebay, I started buying old kits in a big way, along w/ new releases. I now have 1500 or so unbuilts, and a lot of restorable '60s-70s builtups that I've bought. Alas, I buy a lot more than I actually build..
  13. It's sold in the UK as a Chevy now, I think the Daewoo brand is gone from most markets outside of SK...the Nubira/Lacetti is the car (and the Chevy Cobalt) that the new Chevy Cruze (Delta II platform) will be replacing worldwide..
  14. I'm trying to remember the price of gas and diesel when I first started driving (1986). First car was an '84 Escort diesel, followed in '87 by an '87 Mustang GT.
  15. Not that I'm aware of. Would be nice. It's too bad Monogram didn't do the Grand Prix (regular or 2+2) or the Cutlass 442 or H/O back in the day..would have gone well with their Monte Carlo and Grand National kits, IMHO. The G-body coupes are some of the most memorable GMs of the '80s, IMHO..
  16. I'm 38... been building for about 30 years now. I credit my older brother (who built AMT annuals in the '60s) with getting me started, and my parents...my Mom helped me w/ painting for when I was a kid, and my Dad bought me some kits of cars he liked from his youth (Monogram 37 Cord, 41 Lincoln, for example). I grew up in a family of car nuts...we always had 5-6 Mustangs of all years, 2-3 early Cougars, the occasional GTO or Trans Am around the house.. I started collecting Hot Wheels and Matchbox as a kid, and subscribed to Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Hot Rod at age 7.
  17. I have a strange idea..I don't know if it would fit, but it would be interesting to put one of these in a '60s Bonneville or Grand Prix for something different...
  18. Sounds fun...I'm going to celebrate the cooler weather by taking a little road trip up into the mountains tomorrow...up to Sedona, Cottonwood, Payson..do a loop and then back to Phoenix.
  19. The wheelbase is longer than the original Challenger, and also, I think the hood is shorter... it does look quite thick through the sides and from the rear, quite tall... but I like the styling overall, it stands out amongst the look-alike generic FWD cars that are so common today.. saw one in traffic last week, a black SRT8 with the plate 'NOT2GRN'....really stood out amongst the usual FWD sedans, SUVs, etc of a typical morning commute...
  20. Yah... I definitely remember ice storms and other horror from my winters in NE Ohio, SE Michigan and one winter in Chicago.(the 12 winters in Colorado weren't really that bad).don't miss that... I guess the 5 months of heat is the trade off the great mild AZ winters. For 15 winters, I drove 4WD SUVs, but before that, had 6 winters in NE Ohio w/ a RWD car w/snow tires. Won't help in ice, though. My worst ice storm experience, though, was about 3 years ago, stuck on I-5 near Portland, Or in a Grand Prix rental...took me about 7 hrs to go 25 miles.
  21. It's been on CNN this morning... passed last night or this morning, apparently. Leaves behind quite a legacy in movies, racing, and charities..
  22. Ah, I love F1...never boring...
  23. I like all the wheel choices... another wheel I've thought about using on a '68/69 Charger is the Kelsey-Hayes 'recall' wheel.
  24. They do both versions, the Sky and Opel GT. And also the Solstice..I have all 3, pretty nice..with a little extra detail painting, they make nice shelf models.
  25. Yes, I'd love to see more modern kits. Revell is doing a good job with Fords and Mopies, but there are a bunch of new GMs that would make great kits. There are nice 1:24th diecast of the Sky and Solstice from Maisto. I'd like to see the G8, '08 CTS, the CTS-v, the ZR-1, the '10 Camaro, the '10 CTS coupe and wagon all kitted.
