The original VW Beetle...
Rob Hall replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've heard of Tatra, never seen one. The much larger Chrysler Airflows had a similar shape. It's normal for many cars within a certain era to have similar styling cues.....look at American cars of the '40s... what made the Beetle iconic is it's longevity and that it didn't change style though the years--no fins in the late '50s, etc... Look at mass market midsize FWD sedans today...they are more similar than different in styling cues.. -

Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits
Rob Hall replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'll have 12 '05-08 Mustangs in my to-build closet eventually... stock and convertible conversions of the GT, GT-H, and GT500; the upcoming Bullitt and KR kits, 1 stock GT coupe with Euro number plates (the Revell of Germany version), and 3 tuner style coupes with resin hoods, side scoops, etc. and aftermarket wheels. I assume after the 1st of the year or so they will announce a Corvette Z-R1 kit and maybe a '10 Camaro. I'd really like to see a G8 GXP and Caddy CTS-v, but am not holding my breath. -
Looks like it..last year, they were supposed to be diecast lowriders. This year, styrene donks. Maybe they will be announced (then cancelled) next year in a new series called 'Beaterz', done up as rusty worn out cars...

What are your favorite car songs?
Rob Hall replied to Darrell Gwinn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love all of those..to the Boss list I'll add 'The Promise'....a Challenger is mentioned in the storyline...love the song...off of the 18 Tracks CD. -
Yes, that would be hellacool...

Same here, I'm not too worried about the dirty bits like the chassis...the stock hood, hubcaps, headlights, maybe stock bench seat interior are more interesting to me..
-
That looks really sharp..I've been thinking of doing one...either a white OJ edition, or a bronze and gold two tone like the one I had back in the day..

A Dodge & a Nissan? Magnissimo? R34 Magnum? Am I nuts?!
Rob Hall replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's going to be very cool...I have a couple extra Magnum kits that I've taken the engines, seats, etc from to do a Pro-Touring style '68 Charger and '70 Challenger..... I've thought of the 300C front end or maybe a Charger SRT8 front end on one of the Magnum bodies. And a Dodge & Nissan hookup isn't that outrageous, since next gen Nissan Frontier is going to be a badge-engineered Dodge Ram from what I've read, and Dodge may get a version of the Nissan Versa.. -
A Friendly Warning for my Model Buds......
Rob Hall replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They had a lot of big pointy things in the woods in Colorado also... mountain lions and elk. I stayed out of the woods, but drove my Jeep on a lot of back country trails.. -
I have the Modelhaus conversion parts (hood, bench seat) from several years ago, so I really don't need another kit..but if they provide the stock hood and hubcaps and maybe the seat, I'd be happy...I can source a 289 from other kits. Strangely, as far as Fairlanes go, I have all the AMT Fairlane kits ('62-67, and the '68-71 Torinos) except for the '64 HT. Got to find one of those.

Made a pretty good score today
Rob Hall replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep, they definitely have the '62 Galaxie hood...I picked up a couple hoods and chrome (bumpers, etc) for my rough '62s...I've got 2 convertibles and 1 ht in my stash. I want to get the MCW resin '62 Galaxie 2dr sedan also. -
Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits
Rob Hall replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hmm..those '06 and '07 GT-H wheels look the same to me, except the '07s have the spokes painted black. IIRC, the '06 GT-Hs were coupes, the '07 were convertibles only, and the '08 Shelby GT is a consumer (not Hertz) model...coupe and convertible. The Shelby GT hood looks like a stock GT hood but with a scoop attached (looks like the same scoop that's an option on the regular GT). I have a resin hood that I got somewhere that is a stock Mustang GT hood with a scoop, similar to the Shelby GT hood, I think. I'm planning on getting a couple extra Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT kits, I want to do convertibles also. With the heavily restyled '10 Mustang coming in about 6-8 months, I hope Revell tools up the '10 and has it out by next summer....and the production '10 Camaro. -
Modelhaus 1970 Ford Country Sedan
Rob Hall replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed

Will there ever be a plastic mk III lincoln?

I think those were cancelled...again. -
Will there ever be a plastic mk III lincoln?
Rob Hall replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Speaking of MK IIIs, Johnny Lightning came out with a nice little 1:64th diecast one this year, first time I've ever seen one in diecast. I have a tiny Lindberg plastic kit of one from back in the day. The MK III seems like a natural for The Modelhaus, they have been getting into '70s Fords lately with the '70 Country Squire & Country Sedan wagons and '72 LTD ht....I need to get all of those. Maybe Paul Hettick (whom I believe mastered the '72 LTD) will do one eventually... The '50s cars don't interest me that much, but late '60s through mid '70s big cars are a favorite genre of mine...being a child of the '70s, I remember seeing those cars around all the time. -

I'd be surprised if you could find any rental car in the US with a manual...Americans by and large don't/can't drive sticks. -
Sharp..I have to get around to building my '68 and '69 El Camino kits eventually.
-
Yes, that I would like.. I started converting a couple of the '06 kits to convertibles, haven't finished them. I'd like to do GT500 and GT-H convertibles eventually also.
