I've been on a vintage Mopar kick lately...besides the '72 Duster w/ box I scored last week on ebay, I scored 3 Duster parts kits on ebay yesterday--2 '73s and another '72. With my parts box and the aftermarket, I hope to build a stock '72, stock '73, and '72 and '73 Pro Stock cars eventually out of these...

Cute doggy... my puppy that I've had for a month now is 6 months old, 3 pounds of pure energy.. I keep the door to my hobby room closed, so she can't get at model parts, but she loves to go in my bedroom and steal my socks. So far, she gets along well with the other dogs, though my 9yr old Aussie snaps at her--

Ordered the 'new' AMT '49 Ford, '51 Chevy convertible, '60 Ford, and '70 Dodge Super Bee today from a favorite online vendor. I got a sweet restorable '59 Ford Galaxie convertible in the mail yesterday. I'm waiting now on a restorable '72 Plymouth Duster I got off ebay a few days ago..

Ya, I'm looking forward to seeing it also...I've always liked Zs, since the '70s models. I had a 350Z as a rental in LA a couple of years ago, a lot of fun to drive. My sister is a long time Z fan, owned 4 of 'em ('78, 82, 85, 90) before moving on to a SAAB, then an Acura, then to Mercedes-Benzes. When I was a kid, I built the AMT 280ZX kit to match the '82 she had at the time. I wonder who will kit it---Fujimi or Tamiya or both?

It was the Rides issue I was thinking of. Forgot about the pre-painted. I think it has all the original parts.

I've never ordered from them..I would try them if they had online ordering with a shopping cart, etc. Their site is good for looking at pics of the box art, though. My favorite online kit vendors for domestic kit brands (and RoG) are Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com) and Model Express (www.modelexpress.net), and for imports, Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com). They all have easy to use websites w/ shopping carts, easy to check out, great customer service.

That's a sweet build. I have two restorable Johan '66 Coupe de Villes in my stash (along with a mint '65 and unbuilt '65), but alas, both of my '66s are missing the stock bucket seats--they were built w/ the ugly custom seats. And the Modelhaus doesn't reproduce the stock seats.

Others that were previously issued as two separate versions that would make great 2n1s I think would include the '69 GTX, '67 Chevelle, and '66 Nova. The '66 Nova Pro-Street was only issued once w/ all it's parts intact (they sort of reissued it a couple years ago, but that version was missing some of the most important parts--the tires!).
-
Very cool..would be nice is someone would cast that plain hood... (hint, hint)
-
I have a few of the 1st issue, but this sounds like such a nicely done reissue and the new box art, I think I'll definitely pick up 1. Probably one of the '49 Fords and '51 Chevy also (I have the fastback and hardtop '51s, but not the convertible).
-
I'll probably get the Fujimi one. How about the Revell of Germany one that's out now? Is that the same as the Italeri or Protar tool? The 250 GTO is one Ferrari I've never built, though I have parts of one from a parts box I bought years ago---the body, hood, separate doors (painted light blue), engine and a frame and a few other misc parts....not sure what kit they are from.

When my brother was going through a divorce w/ his ex wife about 25 years ago, she took his record collection--probably 200 LPs--and smashed them all to bits. He then ripped out the support posts under the back deck of the house, causing the deck to collapse. She then torched his '74 Trans Am in the driveway. Luckily, none of his model cars or Aurora Thunderjets slot car set were harmed, as he had given those to me a few years before.

1963 Pontiac Bonneville
Rob Hall replied to fender6575's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Ah, yeah...IIRC, it used to be in F&F's (Ed Fluck Sr) catalog also. That's cool..I have several of the R&R early '60s GM wagons..one of these would be nice to go with those. -

That promo reminds me of mine..I have a '63 Bonneville ht promo that's kind of an unusual pinkish off-white. Also have a white '63 convertible promo w/ a dark green interior....have restorable kits of the ht and convertible also in my stash. I plan to get the MCW '63 Catalina 2dr sedan and ht also... Another resin caster did a '63 Bonneville wagon..it was either F&F or R&R, IIRC.. -
Never been into show rods either, thought it was pretty offbeat. I may have to get 2 of the '57, do a stock one and a beater/rod. I saw an email ad recently for Hot Rod mag that had a car that would look great in 1:25th--a rusty, red primered '57 2dr sedan w/ American Racing 5-spoke wheels in the front and what looked like black steelies in the back. I'm really looking forward to the Challenger kits from AMT and Revell, as well as the '68 Mustangs and the '08 Bullitt Mustang.

any thoughts on this ebay resin caster?
Rob Hall replied to BigPoppa's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
First I've heard of them, but they have 100% positive feedback on 256 txns in the last year, their stuff looks pretty good and is cheap, I'd try them. -
It's a subtle restyle..looking forward to seeing it in person.. I like the interior changes, and addition of SYNC. Disappointing is the lack of power from both engines relative to the new Camaro, the lack of 6-speed transmissions, and the lack of IRS.

Revell 1970 Mustang question
Rob Hall replied to The Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The '69 is my favorite 1:1 vintage Mustang. I have my '69 Sportsroof (351W 4bbl, automatic) which my Dad bought new back then stored in a barn w/ my '87 GT, which I've had since new. Love the styling... -
Well, the Merc is a custom, so I wouldn't expect any of the panels to be stock.
-
This is going to be cool...you going to put sidepipes on it? I'm thinking of doing something similar, using parts from the Revell '69 B-M Camaro. Still have plans to do a phantom B-M '70 Impala with the hood scoop, Cragars, side pipes, etc.
-
Well, yesterday I got in the mail a cool restorable Johan '60 Dodge Phoenix ht I picked up from someone on a model mailing list. Also got in the mail from my favorite kit vendor another Revell '69 Nova and a Revell '02 Camaro and '98 Firebird T/A for parts (want to use the engines, seats, etc in some pro-touring style builds)>

Swearing and cussing on the board

Mmm...booze. I could go for a mojito right now. Watching the election returns on CNN and drinking Fat Tires.. -

Yeah, it's amazing how depending on the context, how people, even the most buttoned down people, can swear. I've been in corporate meetings where things got heated and it was a colorful as anything on HBO.... same with happy hours. I normally try and be professional and precise and avoid slang or profanity in my daily conversations, but in certain contexts of stress or frustration, I can be as colorful as Gene Hackman or Tony Soprano
