  1. This was the best thing I saw today: International Automobile Federation (FIA) president Max Mosley reportedly sent a letter to Ferrari president and Formula One Teams Association chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo demanding an apology for remarks that the Englishman had been forced out of office and had behaved like a dictator. From f1total.net www.f1total.net Great drama!
  2. Well, he had a massive, global fan base and was the biggest pop star of the '80s...sold a lot of music. Kind of like how Elvis was to his generation, but likely bigger in terms of sales. Having grown up in the MTV era, he was everywhere for a few years there. Huge. Not really my thing, though, I was (and am still) more into rock... Sadly, with these events happening the same day, Farrah is a footnote on the news tonight.
  3. I wasn't a huge fan, but he was definitely a big deal when I was growing up, back when MTV actually showed music videos and was a lot of fun.
  4. F&F resin did a '69 wagon years ago, I have one in my to-build resin collection. I'd love to see a '70 El Camino and '70 wagon.
  5. I wonder when the new season starts on BBC America. I do wish they would show them concurrently w/ the UK showings.
  6. Maybe they can get his American cousin, 'Big Stig', to come to the UK for the show..
  7. I would, but it's unbuilt and boxed up with the rest of my collection, 900 miles away.. I believe someone did post pics of a built up one somewhere on here in the last 6 months, though.
  8. Just imagine the fracas we would have had here if Revell had put an SBC in these kits instead of a Ford 5.0! The heresy!! AUUGGGGHHHH!!!!
  9. I've seen a few gray market Skylines in the states, in CA and CO...mostly R32s, but I've seen a couple R33s and R34s. Would be hard to drive a RHD car in the US, I think. Speaking of 1:1s, my '00 Grand Cherokee will be hitting 100k miles tomorrow. I've had it since new, just under 9 years now. Been very reliable.
  10. The problems probably would have been how to fit all the parts in a standard box, plus the fact it would literally be two complete kits--other than the body, dash, and some trim (lights, grille), nothing else would be common. These Revell street rod kits go a lot further than the old AMTs which had the stock kit chassis and suspension with street rod engine and wheel/tire choices. Would have been nice, but was not to be. I'm a replica stock fanatic myself, but more with '50s-present cars..though I've built the AMT and Monogram stock '20s-30s Fords. But I also enjoy these street rod kits, if no other reason that they are a great source of parts.
  11. I have the AAM '71 Olds 88 and '71 Riviera in my unbuilt stash. I have a bunch of R&Rs to build eventually, mostly '59-65 GMs ('59 Olds 88 convertible, '62 Olds Starfire, '65 Cutlass) and Mopars ('67 Dodge Polara, '68 Sport Fury, '70 Chrysler 300). Lots of work needed, but they do have some unique subjects....
  12. Hmmm... good question. About the '37 Ford, I'm sure there was debate about it back in the day on the Usenet newsgroup rec.models.scale, I used to be a regular there. I've been on the internet since '88, back before the WWW...back when when 'archie', 'gopher', and 'telnet' were some of the main programs to access resources on the text-only internet. Rob
  13. Yes, their coverage has been great... I've really enjoyed their F1 and sports car racing coverage this year. A few years ago, I'd given up on Speed--thought it had become the NASCAR channel..
  14. Well, in AZ, you always have to stay hydrated... I always have a bottle of water w/ me (and a cup of coffee in the mornings). I couldn't imagine driving a car w/o cupholders..
  15. That sounds very odd to me, frankly. The Thunderbolts and '70 Ford were reissues of existing tools, this is something previously unreleased. I guess I'll believe it when I see it. Rob
  16. Well, it's not in Revell's catalog for '09 and hasn't been announced for '09, so who knows? I'd like to do a stock one and a beater... And I'm wondering why Revell hasn't announced more new subjects--where's the '10 Camaro SS and '10 Mustang GT and GT500? The new and reissued oldies recently announced are great, but I want modern cars!
  17. Will just have to scratchbuild the armrests and cup holders.. Rob
  18. Please, cut out the drama. It would be nice to see a new stock '32, but it's not going to happen, at least from this tool. Revell obviously intended this to be a street rod only tool, since that is where more demand is (and sales), they probably assumed that AMT had the stock version market covered. You can't always get what you want, that's just life.
  19. Good deal.. I think I've paid more or less that much each for those over the last decade..
  20. Meh. The AMT '32 has been reissued so many times, so there are plenty of kits out there that can be built stock. I've built a couple of them, they look fine to me.
  21. Yes, restos can be quite time consuming and expensive. A friend bought a '70 Mach 1 back in early '02, was found in field, rough, relatively rust free, hadn't run in years. $60k later, and it's still not finished...
  22. I loved seeing the Ferraris, Corvettes and esp. the green Aston Martins in the pits and on the tracks...didn't see much coverage of the Porsches in those classes. The Spyker was a treat to see when it would appear. And what about the Ferrari that lost a tire and wheel in a corner? Fun race overall. I liked the occasional flashbacks to years past, esp. the Ford GT40s, and the Dan Gurney interview.
  23. The question of the tooling will probably keep popping up all the time over the next 20 years, kind of an urban legend. By the way, whatever happened to the building? Torn down? Burned down?
  24. Huh??? Wagoner was a GM lifer...you are thinking of Bob Nardelli who was the Chrysler CEO under Cerebus'-- he came from Home Depot. Back to the original poster, who cares who Glenn Beck promotes--he's just another right-wing talking head nutter like Rush Limbaugh.
