Maybe they can come up with a deal to pair SAAB dealers w/ IKEA stores..would be interesting to see SAABs at my local IKEA. My only experiences with SAABs was back in the '90s, my sister had a '92 900 Turbo for a few years, had a variety of problems, neat car, though.

This past weekend in Ohio, I had my '87 Mustang GT out, and pulled up with the left side facing the pump, as I would in my Jeep. Alas, the Mustang has the door on the right side (hadn't driven it in a while). Later the same day, I drove my '69 Mustang, which has the gas cap on the rear. Then the next day, I had to fill up my Town Car rental, which had the door on the right side also. -
Favorite Car of all time?
Rob Hall replied to christopherparke69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Difficult question. Of the cars I've owned, the Fox ('87) Mustang GT and E36 ('96) BMW M3...I love both cars, for various reasons. Of cars I haven't owned but admire, too many to list. -
Too much work, since AMT has the nice new tool '57...which they should reissue. A convertible or Nomad would be nice, though!

Yes, such it is...I spent $125 on a mint in box AMT '66 a few years ago, but I'm glad to see the new one also.

As far as the Cutlass--I think this is the first stock Olds that Revell has ever done, as far as I can think of. I've ideas for a few...stock H/O, stock 442, ht conversion, maybe a beater.. Looking forward to 3 of the '66 Impalas (though I have the AMTs), 1 stock, 1 street, 1 Biscayne conversion with the MCW parts.. Though I have a resin Hemi Dart, I'm definitely down for another Dart variation..

That's some very cool detail work in small scale! The only model in any scale I've seen of a GW is the beautiful one Auto Art made in 1:18th diecast a few years ago. I'd love to see one in 1:25th..always liked those Jeeps. I'm partial to Jeep wagons since my daily driver is an '00 Grand Cherokee.

I didn't notice it was different until someone pointed it out...I guess new side trim and badging for the 150, maybe new interior parts to do a Bel Air? Interesting...
-
That will be easy enough to make with this kit plus an AMT '70 Monte Carlo for the roof and some bodywork.
-
Add in the G8 GXP and '10 Shelby GT500... same thought---where are the new cars??? Though I'm definitely looking forward to the Impala and Olds. Though I have the AMT '66 Impala already, and can get the Olds in resin.

Revell 2009 Dodge Challenger
Rob Hall replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks good...the optional wheels look boring, though. I've got ideas for 2-3 of these, 1 stock and a couple SEMA show style builds.. -

A lot of '80s Fords had the fuel door on the right rear quarter...haven't noticed where the newer ones have it. One unusual detail the '80s Fords I've had all seemed to have the fuel door release in the glovebox. My '00 Jeep oddly doesn't have a locking fuel door.. -

IIRC, my Jeep is the first car I've had with the gas door on the left..all the Fords (and the one BMW) I owned previously had it on the right. But the last year I've driven an older Mercedes quite a bit w/ the door on the right, so I've found myself pulling in on the wrong side with it when filling it up after driving the Jeep. I always find myself looking at the gas gauge for an arrow to see which side it's on when I'm traveling and have a rental car. The funniest thing, though, was the first week or so after I bought the Jeep back in '00 was the phantom clutching...since I had driven cars and SUVs with sticks pretty much exclusively the previous 14 years! -
I believe AAM did one in resin, along with a crew cab...probably 15 years ago. Monogram did a SuperCab, but that was an F250 and F350 of the '87-91 style.

Found an engine for my 1/1 '88 Mustang
Rob Hall replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Really? I couldn't imagine a Chevy engine in a Mustang. As for my '87, it's got the stock 5.0. Plenty enough power for the occasional weekend drive. -
I'm patient enough to wait until I get it home..don't want to drop any tiny parts in the car... Though most commonly, new models appear at my house in brown boxes from a brown van (UPS) that usually shows up at around 6:30 pm.

Revell '69 Yenko 427 Nova is Out!
Rob Hall replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That sounds like the same car that was in another magazine a few months ago, Muscle Car Review or Hemmings Muscle Machines, IIRC. Fascinating stuff. -
chrysler is going to file for bankruptcy!
Rob Hall replied to B_rad88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just hope Chrysler survives and thrives once again. I've been very happy w/ my '00 Grand Cherokee, and based on the pics I've seen from the New York Auto Show, I think I'll really like the '11 Grand Cherokee (4th gen). -
Was a fun show...I went for about an hour, saw some builtups I recognized from the magazines (Hollywood Jim's incredible dioramas, to name one)...there was lots of talented modelers' work on display. I picked up a couple restorable oldies from the swap meet--AMT '60 Buicks, a ht and a convertible.

That Aston sedan is going to be goregous, I think. My favorite expensive luxury sedans are the Merc CLS and Maserati Quattroporte. My favorite current Porsches are the Boxster and Cayman, esp. in 'S' form.

Cool..I have the AMT promo and it's very nice. I want to do an R/T in white and an SRT8 in silver from the AMT kits...not sure how I will do the Revell versions, one stock, and I'd like to do some similar to the SEMA show cars...maybe a phantom convertible and one with a Viper drivetrain.
