  1. I'm really digging this. You're subtle color choices, the cool interior pattern, and the overall clean appearance of the build. Great job.
  2. Being a big fan of The Deuce (that sounds weird) I'm highly intrigued. Do yourself a favor and check out the builds of 1:1 metal artisan Steve Moal. He is well known for building "gentleman's hot rods" and may provide some inspiration...
  3. Go here to see pictures of a bunch of their offerings. There is no website, but they do accept email order. However, the best way is just to call. Norm is very helpful and knowledgeable. .http://public.fotki.com/crstan/replican-and-miniat/ Unfortunately I have not purchased his Buick 8, so I don't have a picture of it.
  4. All very nice builds, but the photo work with that Charger is a standout. Makes it look like a 1:1
  5. Nice job going the extra mile to make it accurate. since he went through the trouble of making those molds maybe copies would be available?
  6. Thanks for being the voice of reason Casey. Spot on reply Gotta wonder why kids aren't overly interested in joining our hobby. If I was their age and ever did attempt to join the hobby and stopped by here and saw all the negativity thrown at their generation, I would certainly be turned off.
  7. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I don't think it's fair to say that they are not customizers. Yes, most of their cars are big wheel, big stereo showcars. But look more closely and you'll see there's a lot of real customizing going on here. This is just a few examples I found with a quick search. Hard to get more custom than a chopped Merc, right...?
  8. I see the Norwell now. You're an eagle -eyed fellow.
  9. Thanks Niko. I didn't see a signature or anything on the art. I was just curious who the artist was
  10. I like this one. Do you know who the artist is?
  11. Very cool. You really nailed the look with the diorama.
  12. Thanks for the thoughts fellows. The paint was kind of on purpose, to illustrate the rough and tumble ethic that went into most of the post war dry lakes efforts. If you notice the flat tow bar, this car will eventually be towed behind another vehicle, headed to the open salt at Muroc or B'ville. I agree it could stand with a little weathering, but this one has just barely left the garage. She's been cleaned up a bit the night before her maiden voyage
  13. It's actually antique racing white. Must be getting washed out by the lighting. Thanks for the suggestion
  14. While I was working on my first buildup of the Revell 29 A I started messing around with putting other bodies on the frames from the kit. When I grabbed this Flintstone body and tried it out I was struck. So, I started throwing parts around, and here's what I ended up with... I took the hood and chopped the nose off, and then attached the extra track nose from a Revell midget. Then I smoothed out the rough interior of the body with sheet plastic. I made a lot of modifications to the frame with brass. I enjoyed working with the brass, it's much stronger without being bulky and holding a straight line while sanding. I also scratchbuilt the radius rods out of Evergreen. I used the friction shocks from a Revell Tweedy Pie. Made a belly pan from plastic sheet, and used the Columbia 2 speed rearend from the Revell 40 Ford. The wheels were made from washers I found at work. The front tires are from the Revell Orange Crate, and the rears are from rep+Min of Md I've been wanting to try making the very rare Ardun conversion for the little V8-60 from the Revell midget. The conversion started with the heads from the new tool AMT AlaKart and then added plastic rod to the top. Then I very carefully removed the Ardun logo from the Revell 50 Ford pickup engine and grafted it onto the new heads. I also used the intake and carbs from the AlaKart (see, that engine can be useful for something) I sratchbuilt the radiator bypass tank and added a generator with bracket. I wired the kit distributor. The interior consists of a leftover photoetch gauge set, parts box hand brake and fuel pump, and a scratchbuilt battery box. The seat is from Replicas and Miniatures of Md. I made a seat cushion from a piece of leather from an old wallet. More pictures here. Thanks for looking http://public.fotki.com/crstan/finished_models_by_me/speed/t-lakester/
  15. Cheater slicks, very similar to what came in the Rat Roaster
  16. What a great trio. The red T is classic, but man I really dig that green one! Well done
  17. Very nice build, and cool concept. Excellent photography as well.
  18. The Revell frame seems to be longer than stock ahead of the firewall by about 3/8 inch. Sure makes it easier to fit those big V8's in there.
  19. Bernard, I would stick with the "stock" heads like you have in the picture, and some kind of mild intake setup (a two into one or two carb setup). You pshopped concept looks cool, stick with it!
  20. Here it is Tim... Dennis, I'm really digging the stance on this one. As always, your frame mods are great.
  21. I'm digging the center steering wheel also. However, you may want to mock up the interior to make sure that wheel doesn't get too close to the seat. Otherwise you may have to choose one that doesn't have such a deep dish to it.
  22. Thanks for taking us along for the ride and showing how you did everything. It has been very inspirational.
  23. So, besides the moon discs and headers, are there any other parts from the original issue that would merit seeking one out instead of buying a newer issue?
  24. First, let me start by saying thank you to everyone for the positive support. Second, I think there's some confusion. I have no interest in casting these myself. I have done masters for a couple well known casters, and before I submit a piece to them I always try to gauge public interest first. So, this post was two fold. To see what kind of interest there is, and also I know there are a few casters on this board. If any of them are interested feel free to contact me. As far as the body and hood, I'm more than willing to do those as well. The body is pretty straight forward, I've already done it once for my own project. Again, thank you all for your support
  25. I was just thinking yesterday "Man, I hope theirs an update on this one soon", and here it is. This build continues to inspire and intrigue.
