68 El Camino optional air intake
Modlbldr replied to Modlbldr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Oh my! I finally got it to work! Not sure what kit this came from but I was told it is a resin copy from the 68 El Camino. However, I have not been able to find it anywhere. A friend of mine had one built up years ago and he also told me that it was from that kit. Anybody recognize it and can post photos of it built up? Later- -
68 El Camino optional air intake

I finally got it to copy what I wanted. Here is the kit that I believe has the intake I have. Maybe not. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&redir_esc=&client=ms-android-verizon&source=android-launcher-widget&v=133247963&qsubts=1394864829302&action=devloc&q=AMT+68+El+Camino+street+machine&v=133247963#biv=i%7C1%3Bd%7CeA6Ucu7QsRmytM%3A Later- -
68 El Camino optional air intake

The pics I was sent are not of the intake set up I have and due to Photobucket being a piece of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, I can't post photos of what I have. I guess I'll do the best I can. Later- -

Casey- Thanks for the link, but none of the pics are showing up for me. Just blue and white question marks. Later- -
68 El Camino optional air intake

Yes. The one with a grey car with a maroon stripe on the box art. Drastic Plastic doesn't have that issue. Later- -
Does anyone have photos of a build up they did, or a copy of the instructions for the optional set up that includes the square ribbed air box and forced air system? I have searched Drastic Plastic for instructions with no results. They have two 68 El Camino kits but it isn't on them. Either this set up is not from the 68 El Camino or they never included it on the instruction sheet. I received a resin copy from one of our members and I would like to see what it is supposed to look like when completed. I will try to post pics today of what I have so as to help identify what I'm talking about. Later-

Yeah, I would like to see photos of the finished product too. I really liked this one as you were doing it and I think I will be using that color combo on an upcoming build. Just have to figure out which one. 69 Corvette maybe? Later-

I love your work on this. I like this Lindberg kit a lot. Right now I'm working on a 66 El Camino with a 68 Corvette hood bulge molded in. Keep up the great work and I'll be following this one. Later-

Nice mods to the suspension. I really like how you deleted the rear side window area. Great look. Later-

Simply stunning. I've been wanting to build mine for years but another build always creeps in ahead of it. Great job. Later-

Are we talking vintage Trans Am racing? If so, count me in. I have a 67 Camaro and a 70 Mustang that I want to do. I'm interested in finding that article. Welcome Jim. Later-

Thanks guys for the input. I think I'll try jaymcminn's way since it is what I had in mind in the first place. And he says he has used it on aircraft. That is essentially the look I want. Thanks again. Later-

I am doing a paint job that I want to have a flat, aged look. Something similar to a military style paint job. I want it to have a flat white detail stripe done with decals. I painted the body with Testors Intermediate blue to start. If I am not mistaken I need a gloss coat to apply the decals to. My question is how do I get the flat look back after applying the gloss and decals? If I put down a top coat of Dull Coat won't I end up with a semi gloss finish? Should I just skip the gloss coat? If I do, won't the decals silver on me? Later-

Nice work you are doing. Great subtle mods. Keep at it. Later- -
There is a nice 1:1 metallic teal 68 300 running around here that I would love to talk the woman out of. Later-

Nice looking so far. I'll be watching. I like the unchopped top. Later- -
Very nice paint job. Too bad you had to shoot it twice. What color of grey is that in the interior? Later-

Nice job on this. I love the engine swap. Very interesting way to do the front tire clearance. Not sure what I think about it. It isn't too practical. Still, it turned out very nice. One to be proud of. Later- -
It's really hard to tell the difference here because they are next door to each other. I usually go to check out the other genres too. I don't think I've ever bought a model from either store. Later-

I've got one of those Sand Shark kits that I wanted to do a similar thing with. Now I know what direction to go in. Looks great. Later-

I remember when you weren't anybody if you didn't have a Roger DeCoster bicycle. Guess that's why I was a nobody in school. But man, did I try to convince my parents to buy me one. Oh well, somehow I lived without one....My childhood was sooo rough (he says sarcastically). Nice kit, BTW. Later-
