  1. Engine #3 for Denton, Texas More pics and the build pics are on my WorkBench page at TimsTrucks.com Thanks for looking! Tim
  2. The tip on the warm soapy water, cotton balls, etc is exactly how I clean mine. Since I have open shelves, the models gather plenty of dust. Tim
  3. Thursday Evening Progress update The Bumper. Here the apparatus body is just resting on the frame for the photo. Thanks to the tips on www.scalefirehouse.com and Charlie Rowley for the hose tip. Thanks for looking. Tim
  4. Okay, it IS a Red oval, but it is a fire truck. I haven't built a fire truck since I was 16 years old. My attempt at a late 80's Denton, Texas fire truck. Engines 1-6 were Peterbilt 377 units. All are out of service now. The caps are resin items from Eric at P&P Plenty of work to be done... Thanks for looking! Tim
  5. Most likely spec'd for oilfield export. Drom box with pump equipment is what comes to mind. To be legal in the USA you'd need to install an '08+ emissions compliant engine and DPF. There might be other USA mandated features/functions that were omitted from the build. Tim
  6. Neat work. I like the plumbing. Tim
  7. That's a great looking Diamond Reo ! Tim
  8. An angry infected stubbed toe.
  9. Nice work on the mirrors - much better than the kit pieces. Tim
  10. A modern trailer would be sweet. Stainless reefer. Flatbed. Livestock.. Heck, even something like this: Or this Tim
  11. Spaulding's had a 351 a handful of years ago. The 358 hood from P&P and a 351 may look similar, but a 351 and 358 are quite different. The 358 is wider than a 351 - the 351 grille IS the radiator. The 358 grille/surround tilts around/over the radiator. The 358 has the row of fluted ribs on the top of the hood. You would need to narrow the 358 hood at the radiator and the widen the inner fender skirts. To be accurate you would mount the fenders to scratchbuilt mounts on the frame. 358 351 If you study the radiator and surrounds, you can see how the 351 rad "nestles" in between the frame rails and 358's crown/surround surrounds the radiator. You can also see that 351 had the headlamps mounted just behind the side of the radiator and 358 has the lamps mounted to the surround. With all this said.. a 358 is a tilt hood 351. Tim
  12. Chemicals such as PrepSol, Windex and other cleaners may remove the model kit chrome. Try a small amount of dish washing liquid on a a VERY soft cloth. Tim
  13. Both are great kits. Watch the front axle placement. Ertl had a problem with the axle placed to far aft and the tire fouled out with the battery box. Tim
  14. This is quiet the project ! Tim
  15. Nice. Both look like tough work trucks. Tim
  16. The kit represents a '95 - 04 378. In '05 the doors lost the vent window and the mirrors moved to the cowl. For '06 the window ledges slanted forward. The firewall differences.. the windshield washer bottle moved to the radiator in later years. Extra heat shields were added. Depending on the specific truck you are building, there might be an overflow tank on the firewall. The basic firewall stayed the same. This one is for an underhood air cleaner. This one has dual external air cleaners (like the kit) This one has a single RH air cleaner. This is a 2009 underhood aircleaner These are 2009 dual air cleaner set ups. Tim
  17. Mark! Long time no talk to! Still building log trucks?(as-if) Tim
