  1. That self-named King Of Pop was nothing but a sicko perv. To call Jacko an eccentric would be soft peddling what he really was...a pedophile! Farrah a nobody? Please! That poster of hers sold better than any other poster, even Daisy Duke. Those of us males of a certain age had her poster on our bedroom walls.
  2. Every month, I go through anxiety during bill paying time. I was once looking for a house to buy and now I see that I in no way could manage that. I was sold on a sub prime loan and at least I figured it out that I had no business owning a house. I would have lost it as well. Not because I don't pay my bills, I do, but you just don't give home loans to people who make little money. I've paid off most of my debts and only have the car payment and a loan with 900 bucks left on it, so that will be gone by November. Some people cannot manage money. I was like that but I got better at it. It just took a very patient bank manager and my employer showing me how to budget and plan. It's still hard but I muddle through it. Now with my wifey's knee replacement today, I can see we are going down that road again. I sure hope Ted makes it out OK.

  4. Does anyone know this guy? Seems he got evicted out his life long home and thieves broke in and stole a lot of stuff but left the model cars. http://www.startribune.com/local/47167767....4O%20img%20src=
  5. I live in the land of cheese and I've never heard that either. Pennyhead maybe refers to the Lincoln head on it? I saw the issue at my LHS today. Loved the steam shovel article and the double kit with the Heller/AMT connection. I have the Heller version of the Alpine which is on the workbench now and I wish I had the Gordini.
  6. Just a question, Harry. Did your old car seem that easy to use when you first got it? After nine years, your motions at the wheel are more or less trained. After your new car has a few miles under the belt, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. When I got my Mercury Marquis with a shifter on the column, I was grabbing the air around the floor because my hand was used to a floor shift. Now that I have a floor mounted shifter again, I'm always turning on my wipers when I start.
  7. Pretty much boils down to corruption and greed. When the US auto industry collapses, who do you think the government will appoint to head a coalition task force to fix it? Politicians, ex-CEOs and Union bosses to guide the industry back.....and it will fail. These dealers are not really part of the industry as they really do not have control over what the auto companies do. The only way they will save their own bacon is to become independent dealers of used autos and lease the service area to companies that sell mufflers, brake service and tires, or speed shops. Consider also that these people who run the dealerships are also movers and shakers in the community (even the head of baseball, Bud Selig is a car dealer) and drive many foundations and charities that support varied groups that deal with poverty, health, research. Kill these dealer franchises and you affect the quality of life in so many communities, not just jobs but food pantries, homeless shelters, hospitals, the arts, and various outreach groups.
  8. the 64 Dodge pick up is just a stock version of the D100/Little Red Wagon
  9. I see someone answered already. But herte is a link to plate design from Colorado. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...ficial%26sa%3DG
  10. Ahhh Hypermilers! It's fun to fill their rear view mirror with the chrome of a Peterbilt on the highway.
  11. I really like the Heller kits. I'm working on a Alpine A210 right now. This was the same model that was in a AMT double kit along with a Gordini Renault. Has vinyl seats! Nice detail, but you need to have patience and be able to re-engineer some things. I am looking for the Gordini to go with it.
  12. Opaque can be colored plastic. Opaque means cannot be seen through. I've seen transparent ones on old Lindberg 1/32nd scale cars.
  13. Floor Jack? I don't need no stinkin' floor jack!
  14. I saw that sight. How far the Kat has sunk. From AMT ads to a trashy rag. Except for the Kat, everything else he did looks stolen from other cartoonists. R. Crumb, Max Fleischer and others.
  15. Wikipedia is a bit off as usual. Actually fuzzy dice were originally a novelty given as prizes at carnival midway games. Since real dice are usually seen in pairs, it made sense to string them together. Some unknown just slung them over his rear view and it caught on.
  16. I would select a cheaper thinner brand. It works better and the cheaper stuff in more flexible. Reynolds is very thick.
  17. I really liked how the news program kept filming different model kits on the shelves. That in itself could develop interest.
  18. Somehow recently the foil itself was different in as much as it would curl when pulled off and it would dull a blade with just inches sliced, then it would rip. I find that by getting a cheap store brand foil and a spray can of adhesive like the stuff from craft stores with the Mona Lisa on the can or some other light adhesive spray, you have better foil and it's cheaper and it lasts much longer.
  19. Not any more. Different mags find different ways to gain revenue in these tough times. SA charges club listings now, MCM raised their cover price. Different ways to the same end I guess.
  20. Wow! That's somethin' else!
  21. The car on the Little Deuce Coupe album. I finally got to see the real car at the car show this month.
