Does Anyone Stash Paint?
Jordan White replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I too am a member of the "paint stash" gang. At current count, I have 33 10oz cans and 4 8oz cans, plus I think about 10 Testors cans. My problem is I get a can for one build, and don't use it for any others, so it just sits there. But hey, at least it means I have a good selection now! -
*The more you know* Didn't know that, but then again I haven't really seen any manual column shift 73-up trucks.
-
I meant for the interior, but looking at the parts, they modeled a clutch pedal...however the shifter looks like the one for the auto trans. Regardless though, I'm going to convert all mine to floor shift.

Casey: Doing that brings up threads where he is mentioned (plus a few newer ones he's started), but he's looking to find all the threads that he has started. The only thing that the search feature here has going for it is the option to display results in topic form. Scale Auto's search function doesn't have this feature (that I can find), so every result is in post form, even if every single result is from the same thread which can get agitating.

There has to be a way. Otherwise, it would be pretty lame if you can only search back a year.

I believe they originally tooled it to be an automatic equipped truck, or at least that's what the Monogram GMC Jimmy (same kit really) leads me to believe, since in the instructions for the Jimmy they mention a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, even though the kit clearly has a manual modeled.

Overhaulin' returns to Velocity
Jordan White replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Would be nice if this meant that they would put out the DVDs of the first few seasons, since I only was able to get season 2. Course knowing how Discovery is, that probably won't happen. -
1/24 18" & 19" Wheels
Jordan White replied to Deckerz's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Do a search for Fujimi wheels, as well as Aoshima wheels. Both are great brands that make some nice looking wheels. -
emodel cars
Jordan White replied to uncle potts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gregg should start a thread in the "for sale" sections where people can perhaps post up what they have for sale at emodelcars. That way, more people will want to visit the site if they know what's there, and plus the site will then get more exposure as well. Basically the thread would be strictly what you are selling, and no responding to others (that's what PMs are for). So something like: "I have just posted kit x, kit y, and kit z today." No prices, just what has been posted. -
Builders Block What Do You Do?
Jordan White replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Look through a book about a subject you find interesting until you find something you haven't built yet or never knew about. Or just do like a normal modeler and go to the local hobby shop and browse until you get an idea. -
Hopefully these sell well enough where Revell will see that people want more truck kits, especially with cool new parts.

Cool, thanks for the info!

I plan on purchasing three of this kit next week. One will be used to make a '77 Jimmy, a second will be used in conjunction with the bed from the third to make a long box '73 Chevy C20, and the third will be made into a flatbed plow truck.

organizing your spare parts
Jordan White replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got a nice large tackle box from Walmart to house my spare parts, modeling tools, and a plethora of springs. -
Just bought myself a nice variable speed Dremel from Home Depot. Oughta make thinks a lot easier for sanding and cutting!

You are correct about the spare tire mounting, however they did offer a swing away carrier back in the day. Of course, I've only seen it in brochures and only on the stepside. Looking through the instructions though, kit looks plenty detailed and the plow looks like it should be good. Also looks like plenty of decals, which is one of the things I like that Revell is starting to do.

1:18 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 (Thread Restart)
Jordan White replied to Jordan White's topic in Diecast Corner
Yup, it was most likely originally made as a RHD version, and they didn't bother making different holes for the LHD version. -
I built up a Pete 359 to run in the daily driven class.

Ok, yeah I did have a WIP thread, however did more building and less photography of the progress than I would have liked. Since I finished the build, I figured I would just delete the old thread and start over. Anyways, here is the kit that I started with. It's a 1992 Land Cruiser 80 that I did some ugly painting to, and that wasn't painted that great from the factory. And here's the color I decided to go for. I would say that I have achieved the result I wanted.

Do people even think anymore

I stand by my statement of more money than brains. That thing is horrid! -

Again with the misunderstandings. Nothing wrong with people saying that it looks ugly, and that it looks like someone with more money than taste stopped by Pep Boys for a shopping spree. I agree that people can be creative and have fun with making wacky cars, however it doesn't mean people can't criticize the styling. Yes people build models with wacky styling as well. However, they generally aren't spending tons of money on the wacky parts, and IMO they are usually better built than a 1:1 wacky car.
