  1. Nice looking build! Wheels are ugly, but then again most of the wheels these guys put on the 1:1 trucks are the same way.
  2. Yup, Wheeler Dealers seems like it would be dry and boring like Motorweek or This Old House, but it's oddly entertaining.
  3. Yeah the under hood area is pretty poor, though it seems like back then most kits were the same.
  4. AMT put it out a while back, you may still be able to find one at a local hobby shop or online.
  5. Yeah, get the combo kit if you can and just sell off the boat and trailer to get back some of your funds.
  6. JBwelda: First you complain that the staff put your motorcycle build in the other section with a bunch of different builds, then you wonder why everything is separated into different sections and why it's not all together? Isn't that a little counter intuitive? As I've said in every other thread about this subject, I personally love the separation, since it makes finding the certain builds you're looking for that much easier. Same with separating the large scale builds. Why do a search in the under glass section for a 1/12 Bel Air, and have it spit out every 1/25 Bel Air build as well, when you can have the large scale area separate and not have to worry about attempting to search by scale (since the search function never seems to work that smoothly). Edit: As for the separation of pickups and semis, I like this as well since I spend more time looking at the pickups/SUVs/vans section than the semi truck section. I hate how they have it all combined at Scale Auto (also including rescue/maintenance cars) since I have to scroll past all the semi trucks to find the builds I want to see. Honestly I don't see the issue with a little separation. If you want to see everything, or are too lazy to click into a few different forums, then click the "view new content" button and you're all set.
  7. Generally the rat rods I've seen have very little money put into them (except maybe the engine), it seems that they either find free parts or get parts for cheap. (That's not saying that they are generally poorly built however) I could say the same thing about not understanding towards the guys who put tens of thousands of dollars into a shiny billeted street queen that looks the same as every other billeted street queen, save for maybe the color. Edit: Here's a rat rod that I've seen at a recent show. It may look ratty and undriveable, but in the bed is the real engineering.
  8. The Syclone and Typhoon used a full time AWD transfer case, similar to the Astro/Safari. Edit: why? Probably to better transfer the power and low range wasn't needed.
  9. The Transit Connect may still be built in Turkey, but it sounds like the full-size Transit will be built in Kansas City for the US (all versions). http://www.autoblog....-and-diesel-po/ Edit: Yes it looks like a Sprinter, however the Transit has been around for much longer (plus all vans in Europe seem to have the same general look, since it must work best for space).
  10. Don't worry guys, it was apparently just some misinformation! http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/03/contrary-to-reports-dukes-of-hazzard-merchandise-not-hav/
  11. I too am a member of the "paint stash" gang. At current count, I have 33 10oz cans and 4 8oz cans, plus I think about 10 Testors cans. My problem is I get a can for one build, and don't use it for any others, so it just sits there. But hey, at least it means I have a good selection now!
  12. *The more you know* Didn't know that, but then again I haven't really seen any manual column shift 73-up trucks.
  13. I meant for the interior, but looking at the parts, they modeled a clutch pedal...however the shifter looks like the one for the auto trans. Regardless though, I'm going to convert all mine to floor shift.
  14. Casey: Doing that brings up threads where he is mentioned (plus a few newer ones he's started), but he's looking to find all the threads that he has started. The only thing that the search feature here has going for it is the option to display results in topic form. Scale Auto's search function doesn't have this feature (that I can find), so every result is in post form, even if every single result is from the same thread which can get agitating.
  15. There has to be a way. Otherwise, it would be pretty lame if you can only search back a year.
  16. I got the one with the sport options (ARB bumper, rear ladder, second set of wheels, chunkier tires, light bar) a while back, and it was great to build since it went together well and was detailed nicely.
  17. I believe they originally tooled it to be an automatic equipped truck, or at least that's what the Monogram GMC Jimmy (same kit really) leads me to believe, since in the instructions for the Jimmy they mention a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, even though the kit clearly has a manual modeled.
  18. Would be nice if this meant that they would put out the DVDs of the first few seasons, since I only was able to get season 2. Course knowing how Discovery is, that probably won't happen.
  19. The only reason that I build old kits is if they have a subject that is not found in the plethora of recently released kits (for example, I'm currently building a vintage Monogram GMC Jimmy.)
  20. Do a search for Fujimi wheels, as well as Aoshima wheels. Both are great brands that make some nice looking wheels.
  21. Gregg should start a thread in the "for sale" sections where people can perhaps post up what they have for sale at emodelcars. That way, more people will want to visit the site if they know what's there, and plus the site will then get more exposure as well. Basically the thread would be strictly what you are selling, and no responding to others (that's what PMs are for). So something like: "I have just posted kit x, kit y, and kit z today." No prices, just what has been posted.
  22. Look through a book about a subject you find interesting until you find something you haven't built yet or never knew about. Or just do like a normal modeler and go to the local hobby shop and browse until you get an idea.
  23. Hopefully these sell well enough where Revell will see that people want more truck kits, especially with cool new parts.
