Yes, the grill should be black, as it was an ABS plastic overlay, as well as the door inserts. The Scout kits from a 100% accurate standpoint are a hodge-podge of years. The interior detail is correct for the first issue, but incorrect for the "off road", and the kit that had yellow box art. and that is just the beginning of the list!

The only difference in the off-road kit is a sprue with headers and side dump exhaust, racing bucket seats, roll bar, push bar, and a couple other parts. Otherwise exactly the same as the re-issue. Good looking build! FWIW. SSIIs came with low gloss black bumpers only. Chrome was not an option. Doesn't mean you can't put them on though....

A Couple of New Masters

We are in the home stretch...... Just finishing the dash, and then test fitting to go...... I will be releasing it hopefully within the next 30 days. Also, I am finishing up a 9900I to be released shortly after the 9400I -

The one that I am working on is a 9400I, not a 9200. They are similar, except the BBC on the 9200 is shorter. I am down to finishing the dash, and then will be doing a "mock-up" to make sure everything fits and then it will be ready. Shortly after that, there will be a 9900I available. -
Engines in International Trucks
cargostar replied to Jim B's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Everything until the early 80's was red. Detroit, Cummins, Cat, IH. IH had a contract to the vendors that specified the engines were red. The only exceptions were the "diamond" series of IH 6 cyl. gas engines put in to the 1 &1/2 ton or lighter trucks thru '69 . I'll check on the specific date that the change occured. -
The Scale Fire House Update
cargostar replied to cargostar's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
From the owner of the SFH: From Google at least you can see the site is safe to use even if you get a warning. http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diag ... ehouse.com The problem was something accessed a file and added a line of code to redirect traffic to some other site, I never got redirected so not sure how it was working. It's all fresh code on here now though all around so should work smooth. Now to try and fix the other sites that got hit -

The Scale Fire House Update
cargostar replied to cargostar's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
If you use the new link, it should get you in. The "scalefirehouse.com" is the old forum that has the issues. Make sure you ues the link with the "watercooler" in the address. The owner of the forum said that the warnings may go off for a day or two until the virus systems clear the warnings. -
For those of you that have been having issues getting on to the SFH forum, the problems have been hopefully resolved. Whatever spammer/problems that it had were rooted in the code. The only way to resolve the problem was to reload the forum, so any book marks or favorites saved will no longer work. The new link to the forum page is: http://www.scalefire...ooler/index.php Thanks!

UPS Parcel Truck
cargostar replied to Repstock's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Untill you have changed some tires on them, you don't notice that the wheels are black instead of brown!!!. No, they never sell them, or part them out. Even when they have to be towed, they try to cover up the markings. Also, there are no other markings on a UPS vehicle, other than UPS fleet markings. Almost every new unit is special ordered without any emblems, or badges from the manufacturer. This is really noticable on their semi fleet. Tom, check your email for pictures. -

Amazing!!!! FWIW, on the current units, the wheels are black, with the rim edge silver. I don't know if the wheels were ever brown. -

Looks good! Always classics.... Heres a pic of an updated grill/headlight set that I cast in resin. I addes the Eagle emblem to the top of the grill for a project I'm working on, and I decided to cast it. The headlights are modified to be rectangular, yet, fit into the original hood holes. -

The dash wash a decal also, and its not 1/25. Its an odd size...about 1/34th or something. Toy like is a good description.
