I agree with Leo on the height, 8 to 8 1/2 feet tall.
IH shared stampings from their Loadstar cab when they built the Sightliner. To my eyes, a Ford cab wouldn't even be close without ALOT of work.....the only part that might be close in shape is the cab rear wall.
Been roughing it out, but mostly concentrating on getting the 9400I done.
And yes, the Terrastar uses the same cab. It does have a step in the frame justbehind the cab to get it that low.
No one to my knowledge offers a Sightliner. I have a friend that is tring to purchase a 1:1 truck, and has promised to provide measurements so I can modify one of my Loadstar cabs that I'm working on.
I've seen ambulances both ways....I figured doing just the top would keep it simple.....
I'm hoping that I can keep my momentum going and finish off some projects that are half done so I can have some room to work on newer stuff....like the D-line IH's....
PM or e-mail me price info, please.
I just finished this one up. It is designed to fit the re-release of the Dirty Donny Chevy van. It includes the raised roof, rear step bumper, and a roof vent.
If anyone is interested in one, just drop me an email, or pm
I believe it was a Clint Freeman kit. It was offered as a complete (cab, hood, dash, etc), and later as just the hood. I have one downstairs. I'll dig it up and get some pictures.
I'll have to check the dimensions, but I'm pretty sure the Transtar II cab is too short in the BBC dimension. When IH brought out the II, they also lengthened the cab by 4 or 5 inches. I'll dig out my spec book and compare.
Ertl did not lenghten the cab.
If it happens, it would be the Transtar II. The tooling for the first Transtar was modified into the Transtar II tool. So, it no longer exists. The Transtar II tooling does still exist, as it was reissued 15 or so years ago.
