What a difference with just some paint on it! Yes, I love '59 Mercs ..

Curing it thru clear plastic shouldn't be a problem but I haven't specifically tested this. You might have to leave the curing light on it for longer than 4 seconds is all. I did a few taillights in Bondic in me thread about uses I've found for it. 1001 Uses for Bondic. One thing is to spray a coating on Acrylic Clear on the part before handling if you wish it to remain clear. It will dull with your fingerprints otherwise.

key holes - paint? foil? ...
Foxer replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have some PE keyholes from Model Car Garage that I like to use. They are on a rubber backing so they don't have to be cut off a fret and trimmed . very easy application. I checked so I could give a link but they don't have them listed. They were called Door Lock Cylinders MGC-604. I'm going to have to look somewhere else as I'll be needing some soon. This is a van I used them on .. -
Welcome to the show! ... from way down south ... NE, that is.

Some people swear by Silly Putty to mask oddly contoured areas like this. I never had luck with it sticking to anything. If you didn't scrape the chrome off the gluing surfaces, they will pry off easily. If you have a steady hand it may be just as easy to paint the engine with the chrome there. If you use acrylic paint it should come off the chrome plating pretty easy . wet or dry.

Simply beautiful transformation!

Foxer replied to Earl Marischal's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I like resurrecting old glue bombs and when they're your own it's magic. Good luck and don't hesitate asking questions here as there are many who restore here. -
Interesting story on the kit .. and I like your build going on.

Why can't I add a post to a thread in Firefox?
Foxer replied to Foxer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well, I did fix it by resetting Firefox to it's defaults but I don't know what caused it to start with. -

Welcome to cars. You should try an old beater to ease your way into all our glossy substances .. your tank experience will do you well!

This happened a few weeks ago and, since I can post this from Chrome, I expect I did something n Firefox so I cannot post in the forum. I just get no box to post into. There is a box but it has some arrow circle icon in it and I can't get a cursor. Has anyone had this happen or have any idea why this is happening?

have an old double ended pin vise with a gold handle that takes every tint drill bit I've tried in it. I think it was from Micro Mark but it doesn't come up on their online site. The big thing to check when getting on e is what size drill bits it takes. Most have this information listed, but if not, skip it.

That IS impressive. For whatever reason. my eyes got riveted to following the brake lines underneath ..

I made some headlight lens castings using Bondic. a clear plastic material that hardens under a blue light. They are about 3/4 down the page I have been posting my experiments on.

oK ... this one is coming back to life as I have all the photos I could gather of my daughter's K car and it's been sitting on the shelf in front of me all this time. This dashboard shot shows the start of all the stickers and writing it had at the end .. oh .. the car was named Betty My printer was acting up when I stopped last time and it's in good shape now to print the decals I made ..

That's an amazing job hand painting .. I was going to congratulate you on a great decal job .. but, WoW!

With your photo I see what you mean. You can't get completely rid of it but sanding the mating edges carefully with a sanding stick or fine nail board will get the edges as sharp as can be to make the line fine. You'd have to strip the chrome, glue and fill the mating line then chrome it with Alclad or other chrome process to completely rid it of the joint.

This has been on my bucket list list for a long time, but at 1/25 .. not 1/43 as this Neo model is. I had a '72 Vovlo 145 which I have been looking for something to build it with. I recently saw this Neo 145 at 1/43 and figured this was all I'd ever find. It IS small .. the first 1/43 model I've bought. But, the detail IS amazing for the size. Guess time to get some Volvo Dark Blue and just paint it.

3D printing growing as we speak
Foxer replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
An interesting tidbit I learned last night from a friend that work at Sabic here in Pittsfield ... Sabic bought GE Plastics a few years ago who had their headquarters here. I designed the foundations for a huge injection molding machine there that is just for companies to try out their plastic pellets .... machine was 2nd largest in the country. Now I'm told they have the largest 3D Printer in the country that uses their plastic again. They printed a whole car body with it .. that's a 1:1 CAR BODY! Said to have taken a week to do it. Wish I knew more about it but being retired I never get in there any more.
