  1. That seems odd. Wish I could give some idea why it would come off after buffing. I use Aluminium Plate buffing from a spray can more than any other metallizer and have never had it come off. It always buffs to a nice shine and I rarely clear coat it since it will lose much of it's look. I never pay attention to primers as it covers so well. I've used it over sandable primer and bare plastic. It has to be some paint glitch like humidity that some of the better painters here might answer.
  2. First, that's a cool build! and, he's a car salesman .. on their way to a dealer for introduction night. I think GM would fine the driver for the lack of tarps over the cars.
  3. Looking really good. I always loved this truck.
  4. Thank you for the gracious comment, Ron. What you're planning sounds interesting. And, I've succeeded if I've sparked an idea! Can I stop now and go to another build? ... drats! OK .. I'll keep going. I found the two colors of paint I need for the interior! A GM metallic that has the same sheen as the vinyl and a light blue craft paint for the upper interior. Feel like I'm getting somewhere now! Maybe will be a paint update soon ... ))
  5. Narrow whitewalls are proper for that Vette.
  6. Thanks for the comments on my box, Peter. It means a lot coming from Mr. Swoop!
  7. A lot of nice dry room in there. I was interested to see there was a version of the Chevy Van with the swing side doors.
  8. You did a fine job putting the colors where they are.
  9. BAH! Models are meant to be worked on, not finished!
  10. This is weathering perfection! Now I have to go sweep out the bed of my truck cause it looks JUST like that. Oh, I don't have a truck, but if I did ...
  11. I'm seeing a lot of nice work here. Glad you decided to post.
  12. That crackle paint is amazing! I like this hairspray technique. As you say, it allows much more precision to get the rusting as you want it. Now, my only question is, how unkempt is your beard after using all your hairspray on the truck?
  13. The louvers defiantly give it a more purposeful look ... and all that heat needs somewhere to go with the belly bottled up!
  14. Definitely have your feet up in the air there!
  15. Oh my! I've been watching that fantastic looking frame come together, but THIS made me stutter like a school teacher on a Wells Fargo ride! It is looking wild!
  16. Nice Tutorial. You could have posted all 3 installments as 3 separate posts in the same thread to overcome the photo limit.
  17. I LIKE this one! It's a good looking build ... something you USED to see every day. It looks like the same options that were on the '67 LeMans I had!
  18. OMG! All this time and I never saw that! Thanks for the heads up, Jordan.
  19. Those wheels you used are very close ... they even have the 3 "tabs" pressed into the inner ring. I did get some wheel suggestions in my first post on this build asking for kit and part suggestions. All the 8-lug wheels mentioned were deep dish, unfortunately. I also had a zoomed-in photo of my daughter's van wheels in that thread and you can see how close they are. I was planning to use some wheels from the AMT '50 Chevy 3100 Pickup. They don't have that "3 tab" pattern but were close in size to being correct.
  20. Was no slacking off over the weekend with much work on the hinges and other things. You are going to have to wait on the hinges still, but I got the exhaust modified and mostly done on the interior panels. The V8 GMC exhaust system was weird ... 2 pipes into 1 into 2. I include a GMC Parts drawing of it for reference. I used another exhaust from a junk donor to add the two rear pipes at the rear. The bends you see in the GMC drawing were straightened by Midis! The interior panels have been seen here but I got some better lit ones that show all the strips I used to make them. They only need BMF at the top, some paint and handles at the front.
  21. Ryan, Ryan, Ryan !!! There's my wheels! They look really good ... what's the chances of finishing this one for casting before I finish this van? I know, I finish in my dreams! Seriously, I haven't started any work on the wheels as I'm waiting on some proposed tires From Ma's Resin. Are these rims close to 16.5" diameter? I'll defiantly get them from you if you put them on the block.
  22. That's one great looking truck!
  23. Oh yes! That's looking AWESOME! ... altogether now .... Little Red Corvette ...
