  1. Sounds like quite a trip ..and a great thing to be a part of. And, that makes a pretty cool display>
  2. Good looking hood puddle on the tarp.
  3. That IS one huge engine and a good locking build. I tried trains when trying to get my son into modeling (I always wanted a HO Layout) and painted and decaled a cheap Ahearn diesel and boxcars in New Haven colors. It was a fun break when I was getting back into modeling ,,and counts as a completion for me!!
  4. One of the earmark of a true builder is seeing what you've done and how to improve it. I commend you on your attitude AND your build!

    My builds

A very electric group there! I especially like the lines of that bike!
  6. That looks really good. One of the tough parts is not overdoing it to keep it realistic. You win on that one!
  7. It came out beautiful! But what really floors me is how FAST you did it.. WoW!
  8. A great story to go with this! ... my eyes are open ...

    Nova dirt racer

That is one great looking build! Love those wheel cutouts.
  10. I'm probably the ultimate example of this as I haven't updated any of my current TEN WIP builds here in years for some of them! And, I'm proud of it! Since joining this forum about 2 years ago, I haven't completed ONE build! But, I've been building all that time and thoroughly enjoying it. It's MY time and I'll do what I want with it. I have no excuses for any of it.. it's how I work, it's not due to work, death, babies or earthquakes. As some have said, if posting a WIP is done at the end, it's NOT a work in progress anymore. I rarely go look when someone posts Under Glass photos and gives a link to WIP photos .. it's done .. I can already see that. If I didn't post any WIP photos no one would believe I actually build models and I wouldn't get the fantastic encouragement from all the viewers here to continue on with a build!
  11. It's good to see your determination is keeping you going! This is how we all learned, and still learning, by doing it over .. paint till you faint! There are MANY threads here on painting which you might find interesting.
  12. First, Douglas ,, that is right on! Perfect JC custom!!! Now, my first car, a '51 Plymouth, got a set of Mag HUBCAPS from " the Catalog". .. soo cool! Also a set of mostly black seat covers as I painted over the painted wood dash with black and sprayed black fabric dye on everything else inside. Oh, installed a set of RED seatbelts for safety! What else was a kid with no means to do but JC Whitney?
  13. Two great looking dragsters .. beautiful paint jobs!
  14. I get it .. sorry I just didn't put 2+2 together. An interesting project!
  15. Am I missing something? You're making a Mini Cooper from a Focus kit and not the Fujimi or Revell Mini kits?
  16. They just didn't have all the specialized tools we do now, at least they weren't as readily available. Plus, as kids way back when, we couldn't AFFORD them! It's been 2 years into retirement for me now and my tool box is pretty well supplied, but I still get some new-fangled something if it looks like it will make the job easier.
  17. Read above .. that bed is real WOOD! I like the look, Nick! And good to see you can post again.
  18. I've found these chrome clear coats are applied pretty thick on most instances where I've removed the chrome and I'm always wanting to get it all off down to the bare plastic to get the detail back. I'm finding the Dawn method to be working for me, but all these suggestions are great.
  19. Pete .. that is one clear and concise explanation! well done
  20. I like the look of the engine. I had 5 Porsches, but not a 911, so it looks good to me!
  21. This looks fantastic! Tamiya can sure make an engine when they want to and you did a great job detailing it! I just got a Mini Cooper rental while some pickup damage is fixed on my car and this is a blast to drive. It's HUGE compared to the original Mini's, though.
  22. Your metals are always so realistic looking. Can I ask specifically what paint you used for the interior panels?
  23. Your problem has nothing to do with Windows 7 ..nothing has changed there since windows 95. If you have a Fotki account already, nothing has changed there either. I'm not sure where you problem is at. Win 7 has changed the names of certain folders ... notable the Used folder where it will, by default, stuff your photos. Instead of in the "Documents and Settings" folder it now uses a "User" folder for your default locations to "lose" your files. The old folders ARE there, but they are unusable. I'm just taking a wild guess here, so tell us more if that's not the problem. Win 7 CAN be frustrating until until you catch up with how they have renamed things.
  24. I have builds I started way back in the last century that still haven't made the Under Glass Daily News!
