  1. Welcome to the forum. Nick and let it be known that there's not a one of us here that hasn't stopped trying to improve!
  2. don't knock dirt ... it's great just lying around till the wind blows!
  3. Looking so smooth ..foil is clean as a whistle!
  4. That body came back well ..all that paint must have protected it all these years! Haven't seen one of those Buicks in many years ... gonna be a cool one.
  5. I'll have to check into that color, Ed ... thanks
  6. I always feared metal working but this looks doable. That scooped skirt is really cool!

    "Nifty Fifty"

That looks fantastic! The right height is spot on.
  8. I would LOVE to see a tutorial on that. Have a Mercury on the bench I was planning to make some cruiser skirts just like those for. Those are aluminum? They look to have just the right thickness!
  9. I have been working on the body repairs, so time for an update. No custom work yet and just in an intermediate primer coat as I get the glue and gouges smoothed out. The headlight area will be getting cut out so didn't do any work there. It looks like it a save,
  10. That one's in nice shape. I cut the front bumper similar to what you have and the headlights on mine are getting replaced but the originals are a little messy, but may be salvageable if re-chromed or Alcladed. I'd be happy to send them if you think you can use. It looks like I cut the bumpers off closer than yours are, so them may splice on. While I was looking at different headlight replacements I did notice the Monogram 59 Chevy lights look very similar and seemed almost a straight fit.
  11. Hi Charlie. I live in the Berkshires near Pittsfield. Thanks for the compliments. The roof raises most in front and blends smooth at the rear, so I cut through the roof along the front edge and down the sides until it would bend flush with the rest of the roof. It was glued in place and some sheet plastic glued inside along the seam. Sand and putty. The thin roof pillars make this a fragile bodywork area ... cant take a lot of pressure on the roof. I have a 95 Legacy on the bench that underwent the same surgery, my wife's next car. That one's all painted and just needs a new grill made ... one of these days. The license plate is from a photo of the real plate. I figured the distance to take the photo at for the correct scale on a 4x5 print. I sliced the paper thinner with a razor blade after cutting the plate out for a little more scale. I've made decals as you mention also and that works well too.
  12. A coupe will be glorious! Very ambitious, Peter .. gonna be watching closely.
  13. Register for the site then follow the link in my previous post to the engine. I had to fish around for it, it came up with the free offer. Don't think I can help much anymore. I have no idea how long this offer was for.
  14. You have to register then go to "Pay and Ship" link. Think it shows up there as free order.
  15. The shipping was a little over $2 in the states. Not sure how they handle Europe. Box was 11" x 5.5" x 5" high and was well padded... it's still sitting here. Came by first class US Mail and didn't take very long.
  16. John McEnroe is the only "too old" in this thread! (that even includes George) Welcome back and I'd suggest Photobucket to use for you photos. I find it the easiest to post from.
  17. The offer is legit. I got one to see how it is. It's not a bad engine, thou is 1/18 and not much use to me. Liberty Classics makes this and lists it for $37, so not a bad deal. Seems a bit overpriced at that cost. Here's a link to the engine you get.
  18. I really like the look of the welded doors .. how did you do those?
  19. That is some ambitious and very good looking work!
  20. That's beautiful. You're brush work puts many of us spray painters to shame!
  21. I may need to Doc for a checkup ..I'm starting to see it flow!
  22. Here's Dave's link. He paints MILES DEEP better than he can add links!! Rattle your cans
  23. Looking good Curt. Why not glue the doors shut before you paint? I like the look of that distributor ... better than 90% of the prewired ones I see. Will have to check them out.
  24. hah ,,I like the Cube best of those too. It had great potential for all sorts of mods.
  25. I've been having the same luck recently as you. It happens and just have to pick up and move on. I had posted here about needing a paint repair very similar to yours and got some very good suggestions .. here's the link
