  1. Some nice body work in the works there! The concept rendering looks good to me, but the front end seems in conflict .. the old Charger grill atop the new Dodge cross hairs. This will be interesting,
  2. Neither my son or daughter build models, but my son still isn't sure how many wheels cars come with. My daughter drove my Porsches better than I, changes her oil and keeps her tire pressures EXACT! Both are over 30. Wonder which inherited my car craziness? And we'd LOVE to see one of your models, Lyn!
  3. sigh .. Please do not drool on the sheet metal! Thank you for that and some great photos.
  4. Kitchen Table Resins has a few engines. Not fully sure how to contact him, but Ken Kitchen is often on this forum. Others here should be able to supply the info. Scale Dreams sells Ross Gibson Engines, one of the most respected aftermarket engines around. Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland has a Flathead, Ferrari and a new Offenhauser engine that I know of. This link has many of owner Norm Veber's parts as they have no web site. RMCoM is one of the top aftermarket parts resin casters in the hobby. Here's a few other links to his stuff ... RMCoM2 I'm sure other's here can supply you with some additional sources and links. Usually CA (super glue) is used with resin, but epoxy is common also.
  5. Welcome Oscar and as for the Airfix TR4A, I have that kit but haven't really started it yet. I had a 67 TR4A (dark blue too ). It's not typical of all the Revell, AMT, Tamiya etc 1/25 -1/24 kits you'll come across. Most bodies are molded in one piece, The muilt-piece in the TR4A lit is more like Revell in the 1950's! It's still not bar for detail for a 1'32 plastic kit and should build up decent with some care. You're Warhammer experience will do you well here detail painting cars. Most of the engine swaps you see going on here come from other kits. We all thrive on switching parts out between kits and most have a huge stash of kits to steal from. There are also resin casters that sell complete engine kits and hop up parts. If you search GTO in the Under Glass section, I think you'll find many examples and most likely some comments on the kit you're interested in.
  6. Just as a note, Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland has a turbo in his recent catalog. Said to be a scale 6" diameter.. a pretty big one. There's was a post in the last day or two here with Norm's latest listing in it. I haven't seen it, but you KNOW it's a good one!
  7. Love that color .. proper on that 64!! Looks great
  8. ah .. familiar paint.. looks great. Same color as the backdated 92 I'm doing that my Dad had that is about to be repainted due to my error.
  9. That was a great purchase, George! I'd never steal it from ya, but would have been nice to know if you wanted to get rid of it. Looks like you're gonna have to make a showpiece of it for us! Every one unbuilt I've seen on ebay recently has been going for $70 -$80! Guess I should know to ask here first. I paid considerable less, but still around what you did for a glue bomb. It will be fun at any rate .. nothing is ruined that I want to use. Dave .. let me introduce you to Mr 53 ... ehehhe
  10. I fully understand what you're saying, Bob. It's a tough spot to try doing just a panel. It's still swimming in my head. And for that G37 .. groan.. I have a Black 6-speed G37 Coupe in the garage ... it has a SUV door crease in the rear fender and been terrified of the panel painting it needs.
  11. A beautiful job! Fantastic work on this one.
  12. Very nice! tons of great detail there..
  13. This glue bomb is one of my Holy Grails and so far it looks like it is restorable to what I want from it. Not a factory spec but a mild custom just the way I originally built it in 1961!! All the unbuilt kits I've ever seen were just too much money for my tastes and this built, but not painted, was just right at one third the price. It looked like the builder glued about every custom option on .. at least 4 different pieces on the rear fender skirts alone! This looked like the way we all started, though I never build an unpainted kit. Note the dashboard was installed upside down! Maybe it was a British builder. Also, the rims were installed backwards ... a CUSTOM look for sure! I suspect the builder's Father may have had some stock in the Testors Glue factory from the looks of it! Defiantly a glob-and-stick job, but it must have been a blast and the modeler was proud I'm sure. Most parts popped right off after a short residence in the freezer, but the rear skirts and the rear deck area were really glue gobbed on and took some grinding to remove the pieces. These photos show the body after being fairly well cleaned up with some areas still needing major attention, but doable with what I have planned. Now, I know many think this design is an abomination, which I don't understand. I always thought the original Valiants were a bold and creative design. The fender treatments harked back to hints of the old fat fendered rides of the 40's and even earlier. The fake continental spare on the trunk lid was cool .. and will be maintained with a different center. All the major lines will be kept with some smoothing. I’m still considering what trim, if any, will be put back on. The original front grill will be kept with a different center mesh. The head lights and tail lights at this point are coming from an older Mercedes SLR, but I haven’t received the kit yet to be sure of the fit. I want the Mercedes rectangular wrap around at the corners but need them to be close to a 90 degree bend to work right. The original tail lights will be capped with the custom rounded blank ends from the kit. As far as bumpers, I don't know at this point. Back in 1961 I painted my Valiant a maroon color, which probably came in a square Testors bottle. I haven't decided on this go around, but will be checking what kind of maroons are available now. Maybe it will need a lighter color, but I don't want to think about paint today. Please feel free to make any custom suggestions you may have.
  14. An interesting idea. Hopefully there will be some finished photos here to see soon.
  15. I totally agree with you and one reason I love this site so much is that most everyone here practices that creed. You're excused for your soapbox .. but isn't that label supposed to be in the left corner??
  16. I just popped in there to check and had no problem with it remembering me, George. It's been only a month that I registered there though.
  17. That smile says it all!!!
  18. This sounds like a plan I can live with, Bob. (Dave LOVES painting WAY too much ... he'll strip and repaint at the drop of a hair!! ) Despite my kidding, just know I GREATLY respect all your opinions on this and have considered all with much thought. I cleaned around the windows after the photo.. that white looks much worst than it was and it cleaned up fine, including the blue enamel that came right off the lacquer without a stain. I think worst case is how Bob outlines, just spray the silver again and go from there without stripping. There isn't any molded in logos and such where the additional paint will hide anything, so I'm safe there. Thanks Dave... brake fluid was the one I was really wondering about . all the others I've used I know they don't like putty. And off the the LHS to find some acrylic for the headliner!! (at least my sense of humor is back)
  19. Yeah .. don't know what I was thinking. I've always brushed the headliners. I really appreciate the comment about using acrylics for that .. something I have never considered. The headliner needed a shade of the paint I sprayed on the interior so I sprayed it since it was already thinned for airbrushing. I appreciate all the comments and I'm sure it's gonna need a dip in the pond. It's only polished with the Novus #2 and no wax yet. I am toying with just dipping the roof and making a blend attempt. Nothing to lose at this point.. except the body putty! I know the purple pond will affect the putty. Does anyone know if any of the other paint removers will leave the putty alone? It's mostly Evercoat Euro-Soft but the last thin coats are Evercoat Ever-Glaze spot putty.
  20. Think I was too embarrassed to put a pic up at first.. I KNOW better than what I did! Forgot to paint the headliner before doing the body. I was obsessive snugging down the tape around the windows, but obviously not enough. Primer is Plasticote sandable primer .. grey Color coat is from Paintscratch ... 1962 Ford Light Titanium needing a clear coat. Automotive touch up paint .. Lacquer Clear coats are Testors One Coat Lacquer. The clear has been one for over 2 weeks and has been polished. The blue paint is Modelmaster Enamel. I first sprayed the headliner with Krylon white sandable primer .. some of that leaked and may be the real culprit to this. I did react to the color coat that was on the headliner. That stuff is virtually unremovable. I had one body in the purple pond for a month with NO effect. The ragged areas around the windows I'm not too worried about. it all needs a black window trim painting. That's why I thought I would be ok with this.. just didn't expect the large leaks. The one spot at base of the C pillar is the only place that went through to the primer. I'm thinking at this point maybe tape off the roof and respray after cleaning it all up. Whether I can blend the area with the bare plastic spot is a question.
  21. I have a finished coat on my Crown Vic, metallic silver with clear coats, that got attacked by some trim paint that leaked under the masking tape. The trim paint went thru to the plastic about a 3'16 inch in diameter at the base of the C pillar, but not on the pillar directly. I want to "spot" paint it and don't want to repaint the whole body. Should I mask around the area and coat lightly so I can then rub out the edges at the masking? Or just try to limit the area covered with a fine nozzle and rub that to blend? Any suggestions to limit the repaint would be welcome if you painters think this is possible.
  22. I deDeuce from the photos this is going to be a real looker!
  23. GREX already has a PLUS in my book BEFORE the review.
  24. These are cracking me up .. but awesome builds and weathering!
  25. At least you keep the engine clean .. spend time where it matters!!
