  1. Nice job on the split window. The canvas roof looks grand .. as do the headlight shades and visor. And, of course, proper rims. Great little touches!
  2. Welcome in and I like your style! I too can't seem to get away from building my 1:1's.
  3. This is an amazing collection of photos in this thread!!!! Will be December before I through it ..! I been looking for competition coupe photos too so this may yield some hits. I'm pretty sure your interpretation of the rules is correct ... that's what I'm doing anyway. A period correct car from around 1962 that could have been at Lions. And a few more tidbits from that link:
  4. Thanks, Ron I'm surprised the black BMF looks this good 15 years after the fact. The glue on it was much less tacky than the chrome and I never thought it would last without lifting.
  5. Dang ... those DO look good!
  6. I like using Elmer's Glue watered down and painted over chrome headlights to make them look more realistic. It dries clear, of course, but tones down the chrome and has some depth to it like a lens.
  7. Great idea .. I love bugs in any form. This is looking good!
  8. A great project idea and a great finish!
  9. Two computers? Now you have to wire a network!! It's all looking great..
  10. I couldn't care less, Ford, Chevy or Mopar ... I've had at least one of each and nevermore for any of the three. But. that engine.. WoW. That turbo setup looks menacing and fantastic!
  11. Just to quell the rumors that I don't know how to finish anything, I'm pulling up an old one off the shelf. This was my wife's car and was made from a Japanese GT Touring Wagon version and had to have the hood scoop filled and the raised roof lowered. Some minor bumper contours were modified to match the American wagons.Otherwise, it's pretty much box stock. The worst part of this one was the thin roof pillars considering the amount of body work required to lower the raised roof. The front edge of this can be seen in the box art. One the first attempt, the roof collapsed and another kit was purchased for a new body. Lessons learned made the second one a success. The paint is Subaru Mica Red touch up paint, thinned and sprayed through the gun. All the black trim is BMF black. The rear license plate is a photograph taken so a 4x6 print was the proper 1/24 scale. The paper was thinned with a razor before attaching. I see my wife STILL hasn't returned the video's on the dash ..
  12. You sure are jumping in all brass tubes and soldered joints flying! That frame looks really great!! Nice work! .. and welcome to the Forum.
  13. Ah ... I can think of many uses for that tool. It did a nice job on those scoops. I would have never wanted to go in there with a Dremel!
  14. COOL!! Don't think I've ever seen a Quattro in plastic! We'll be pestering you to finish..
  15. Some of this really small wiring is best done with stripped bare wire painted the color you need. The ignition and Radio Shack wrapping wire is good for modeling these small wires. The wrapping wire is 30ga, .01" diameter which is a quarter in diameter in 1/25 scale. I also use bare wire from transformers I have pulled out of old computer equipment which is about the same gauge. The wire supplied by Detail Master and others matches this size pretty close also. Some multi-strand wire gives up even smaller gauges for the individual strands.
  16. Judging by those bazooka holes in the hood, those turbos must run nice and cool! This is a great looking start!
  17. I had posted a pic in the Lion's Drag thread before securing this frame, but very preliminary. Been starting to move on it now that there's a plan. Body has been chopped but need to mock up the frame before doing the lower body cuts. I'll post things in the Lion's thread as it goes.
  18. Just your average Lowe's parking lot.. wow ... there's some serious sheet metal there!! Pretty nice to have that close for a little stroll.
  19. Big thanks, Benard!! I found a Hippie Hemi and the frame is perfect for what I want! Length looks ideal as is and the length behind the engine is slightly longer than the long Digger frame, which suits my purpose well. I started cutting up the Vickie body and this frame will fit it much better.

YEA! Marcos plants the third pitch over the fence!!!
  21. Was just about to ask for a link ... thanks Brandon. What an electric listing...! Many of those have brought back memories for me.
  22. Good to see you're having luck and I'm sure your Dad's models are making a lot of modelers happy.
  23. A tweak would be a very slight bend .. just enough to bind the inner rod in the tube so friction will hold the hood/door open. and very nice hinge tutorial, Gary.
  24. I was going to respond, but I have no good excuses like Gregg does for not finishing anything..
  25. That combo seems awfully expensive but guess it's pretty good for the two tools if your need both. The Stylus is the most awesome tool Dremel has made yet and I can't recommend it enough. It is somewhat expensive at the moment, being their newest tool, but if you can afford it it is magnificent! It looks awkward just looking at it, but it is the most comfortable one I've ever held and can be held in a half dozen different ways depending on the job at hand. And yes, you can hold like a pencil. I recently replaced my old corded one with a Stylus and am SO glad I didn't settle for the cheaper battery operated ones. This is the only Dremel with a charging station/holder that keeps it always charged. The slower speeds advantages is the same as other battery operated ones. You can use a standard Dremel chuck on it even though it's not listed.. the package labeling has apparently not caught up with the tool.
