  1. ok.. Dave wants this to get serious! The only "RAW OR BASIC MATERIAL" ..NOT pre-formed or worked .. is one of the materials in this table: Non-Formed RAW Scratchbuilding Materials
  2. oh yeah! I like those fenders !
  3. That's some serious detailing.. looks great!!
  4. Very nice! that stuff comes out well .. have some here been meaning to try. Video does great job showing the technique.
  5. ehhe .. I was close to learning on the 51 .. learned to drive on my Dad's 56 VW Kombi ... but the Plymouth column shift still made me avoid hill stop lights for a bit.
  6. Montreal needs it's money more than Bernie does I suspect
  7. In reality, I usually manage to glue one tire on every 3 months. ehhe In actuality, I pretty much have it all painted before any gluing. With my extended projects, I will sometimes get an interior or chassis painted and assembled before the bodywork is done.
  8. I'm in fill agreement with everyone here, but that slot car declaration is a bit of ego it would seem. While I am aghast when I see the level of building in the slot car forum here, I suspect most slot car people are more interested running them on a track rather than spending 18 months getting just the right look!. So, I guess they would consider completely building a coat of paint up from scratch as.. scratch building! How sad....
  9. OMG .. george's BDay is April 1 ...!!!! well, I'm wishing you a happy one now, george, cause I'm afraid of what I may do if this was tomorrow! Truly mean it.. you help make this board totally enjoyable.. :-)
  10. Eventually I'll convert the resin '50 Plymouth I have (now changed to a '51 Promo I found!) to the 51 I had for a first car, but not yet until I finish something else off!! In the meantime, rather than fabricate a full engine compartment for the curbside resin, I figured I'd display the engine as just pulled alongside the car. Since Chrysler used their L-head 6 from 1933 to 1959, I used the L-6 from the 41 Plymouth as a starting point. First photo shows where I am at this point... I've since received great photos of the correct carb from a gentleman at oldplymouths.com with a 51 in the garage and has been supplying photos and dimensions to me!! The carb I first guessed at and built wasn't far off, so time will tell if it survives. The coil and mounting plate I'm happy with and will be adding the mounting tabs to the head from photos I just received. Now I'm in big trouble after committing to this and will have to just work to keep the rust off it!!!
  11. Looking good! that BMF job ...I assume... on dash looks fantastic!

    53 president limo

Looks fantastic! the poor man's limo..... I say Ike probably used a Ford like this when he just wanted to cruise the burger joint....
  13. Great looking build... that paint sure looks smooth. Those are some nice edges on the BNF!! Always good to see someone getting back into building.
  14. I say REAL based on headlight and side glass reflections ..
  15. Cool Dave!! That Tempest looks like it made the rounds.. even the REAL rod mags!!! That's some severe bodywork and looks great! Curious .... what did you use for putty back then? That is awesome to have published models from way back then.
  16. hahah Cal ... gonna take you 0 to 60 days to figure that one out. Here's what you do ... 1 first, remove all duplicates and place in a separate pile. 2. Then, eliminate every one you've built in the past and locate in pile 2. 3. Load up a full sized paint brush with carbon fiber black paint and stand back 12 feet 4. Flick the brush for a spackle finish paint job towards the stack. 5. Now eliminate all boxes larger than a Tamiya as in violation of the rulebook 6. After counting the paint flecks, the one with the most carbon fiber wins!
  17. I'd love to see scans of the article once Dave receives it.. pleaseeeee....?
  18. YES, the more the better! .. Fiat 500's have as much starting charisma as VW Bugs!!!
  19. I'm happy to see all the funkiness of last few years disappear.. including funky tire treads!! .. first winner.. Braun air deflectors .. it starts all over again
  20. I love building old family cars so gonna be keeping eye peeled on this. Looks like a good start. Looks like a decent fit on that rear bumper. (don't tell my 51 Plymouth sitting in the box that he ain't coming out till I clean up some other projects .. this made his doors squeak)
  21. omg.. I never meant for me to be in consideration with these masters. was just joking...
  22. I was chopping tops in 1962, but there CAN'T be anyone here older than me!!!!! eheh
