  1. That is one massive truck! Look at all those axles!!!!!!
  2. The colors are Sand Green (the light one) and Palm Green. Both were used from 1955 to 1957. I have the VW paint codes somewhere it you needed. I got both paints from MCW.
  3. You are making me think. Flat paint goes on SO smooth. Maybe should consider flat and clear coat. Might experiment on an old body. I've been really lucky finding kits that are usable modeling my cars. The only one I haven't found is a 72 Volvo 240. There's a much newer wagon but is not usable body wise. You've go ta tough list there, but it really amazes me no one has modeled the Insight to date.
  4. ... continued... 32 Ford 5 window. This has been sectioned and channeled and the fenders widened 3.5 inches. I started with the recent re-release of the AMT 32 Ford V8 the "Deuce", which I built as a kid with the original release. After starting the bodywork and contemplating what to do with the molded in rear end, I found the Revell 32 Ford 3 window Street Rod frame fit like a glove to the AMT so that's where this is going. This is a pretty recent start so maybe only 8 years to finish going by my normal schedule.. eheh 59 Chevy Impala Hardtop - This is yet ANOTHER of the cars I owned. It has been virtually complete for over 10 years except for the BMF. I don't know why I had such trouble with this one, other than the mass quantities and maybe a sign of my age which must have put the fear in me about finishing this one. I went through a prolonged hardtop cycle with this one. Started with the convertible and got a resin hardtop body. The resin body had problems matching the size of the plastic body, so I cut the top off and put it on the plastic body. About that time, the hardtop version was released and I just got that one and used it! Now we have a pile of bought, planned but not started ones: my Son's Subaru WRX my Dad's Crown Victoria my 69 VW bug recreation of a chopped, channeled and sectioned 40 Ford Sedan I did in 1962 my 67 Pontiac LeMans which I can easily convert from a 66 GTO Last, but not least, is my first car a 51 Plymouth for which I have a link here on the workbench. Please note this does not include the kit I plan to start tomorrow!!!!
  5. Good advice Fugi ..!! Now, here's what happens when you don't stick to those rules.... and hopefully won't catch the attention of the internet police for mass quantities of image posting to cover them all!! 39 Chevy Sedan/Delivery - This was supposed to be a phantom replica of my company's surveying trucks.. I even scratch built the surveying instruments. Stopping point was getting decals with our white logo made. Pair of 51 Chevys .. Fleetline and Bel Air .. I love these cars but not much done yet. Other things keep interrupting 35 Chevy Modified I especially didn't enjoy the frame on this one but since it's pretty much done I SHOULD get back to it! ha ha 95 Subaru Legacy Wagon - wife's old car needs a couple coats of paint after fixing a couple spots. 49 Merc - an old school Merc.. just like one that used to cruise my High School in 1961 ... !!! Waiting on some stuff to finish from RMCoM 91 Porsche 944 - My old car. Last 944 made. It had the turbo body and a number items from the upcoming 968.. like the engine and rear wing. I resin casted the engine from a 968 and made the rear wing from sheet. Both are in this photo. I since found a cheap 968 model and will probably use the ones from there. 67 Triumph TR4A - another car I owned. Haven't even started this one, maybe because it's 1/32 scale .. yuck! 56 VW Kombi - This was my Dad's vehicle.. the one I learned to drive on. Finally got the paint from MCW and it is perfect color! Need repaint and will be done. 03 Infinity G35 - my old car .. you starting to see a theme here? This should be next one I finish.. no lost parts but I'm afraid of the gloss black paint!! ehhe ... think I hit pic limit so continued in next post........
  6. I love names.... lets see.. Old Skool Truck with flip front end... Gaping Jaws Swallow You Whole Substitute Teacher Ol' Sskool Misstress Go To The Corner! bah.. I have to stop here.. things are forming un-forum like in my head...
  7. This was looking fantastic with just the holes alone but that lace paint job is spectacular!!!!
  8. looks like a '44 maybe . eheh now wait! I thought all MacArthur's had 4 stars. This must be an old One Star MacArthur from around '34
  9. I have 3 or 4 hemostats (my wife is a RN) but never seem to use much. They all have grooved faces like pliers and would turn PE into corrugated siding. Maybe it's just the one's I happened to steal from my wife. They have a tenacious locking grip and with a smooth face would have some value. I'll have to sneak into her medical bag again...
  10. I hear ya, Harry! This simple engine is getting WAY out of hand, but it's being displayed outside the car and deserves some "texture". This piece is probably too much, but I found myself calculating scale on the generator wires/nuts last night and placed myself under house arrest.
  11. looks cool . /hands old-hermit the car shampoo
  12. This is looking really cool...all that trim!! BMF is like heavy cardboard compared to gold leaf! I did some work for Crane & Company at their Stationery Mill where they applied gold leaf by hand to the edges of cards and stationery. One guy did it all. pretty amazing to watch a real craftsman.
  13. I cringe when I think of that beautiful paint smacking a wall and rolling!!!
  14. Thanks Pete, I took your advice and ordered the smooth pliers. Your method made total common sense to me. It's about time I got these with the added PE I've been getting lately. Thanks for the comments on the Hold n Fold, gbk1. I've seen than and you answered some questions I had on it.
  15. hehe.. does that mean you canceled you order for the new camera??
  16. I have to bend the small tabs on this PE generator "fan". They can be easily seen in this photo. I'd appreciate suggestions on how you would go about this. The diameter of the whole thing is close to 3/16" .. the size of a generator. It's easy to say hold one end and bend up with tweezers, but the size of this make even grabbing with fine pointed tweezers difficult. Maybe this should be taken more as a question as to handling these tiny parts. hehehe .. it sure looks easy blown up to this size!!!
  17. I really like the look of this ... paint choice adds a lot to the look. AMT should be ashamed of those "see-thru" front wheel wells.
  18. The doors are very interesting. I really like the rear and the paint ... in the end it came out adding much to the build.
  19. cast iron blue!! that came out great
  20. I seemed to be hooked on building cars out in my garage, so will be watching.
  21. So THAT'S what it looks like assembled!! I appreciate that shot... answers a few questions I had seeing it in glue and paint. This won't be mounted in the car but displayed alongside of it as to the reason for doing so much detail.
  22. These are all phenomenal looking!! that mill in the 65 Impala is HUGE!! eheheh But, I'm really looking at the 49 Merc .. the roof treatment I really love.
  23. This is looking good. "Cheap" is worth so much more in the end in so many ways!
  24. I LOVE 3 year old projects .. minimum time for me to put them away.. Looks good... especially like the hollowed out heads .. gonna cut 2 tenths off whit that junk gone ...
  25. This Photo looks good.. colors appear correct unless you corrected them afterwords. I use (2) 30 Watt compact fluorescent lamps in my photo soft box and get plenty of light. These are equivalent to (2) 125 watt tungsten lamps. This does assume you are using a proper setup to photograph models. A tripod is a must to reduce shake and also cancels the need for super bright lights as you can take very long exposures. I have to say your photos come out very well.. well lit to see and good color, on the tabletop ones anyway. If you want more light it seems you'd have to get into serious photo lights.
