Don't leave your model in your real car.
Randy Kern replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Egads! Lesson learned, huh? Actually Lee, that does look a little cool. Maybe an LSD experience diorama? -
Finished big scale Rat fink T-bucket hot rod project
Randy Kern replied to larman's topic in Model Cars
I caught this one at NNL East (hard not to notice!) I just stood there gawking with a stupid grin on my face Very cool! -
Wow, now that's some different subject matter there. Very nice builds, all. The '65-'67 Chevelles are some of my favorites, too. I think the Duke boys would approve, also!
-
I love VW Bugs in any version. That is a really nice, clean stock build. I'll bet your father wishes he had his back, too! Great job, Rick.
-
Wow Matt, that is beautifully done! Love the color, and the build quality is perfect. Very nice.

My work made it to NNL!

I saw it and thought, alright, Izzy's here! Obviously, you would have been hard to find. It looked nice there, VERY nice! -
NNL East was fanatstic.
Randy Kern replied to Modelmartin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Andy, it was also cool to meet you, too! I had a blast building your Ornery Otto altered. Your resin kits are top-notch quality. You really made quite a chapter in history at that first NNL in the garage! Hope to see you at another show, I might try another one of your kits. -
Thanks, guys. Surprisingly, not many were there. Lyle's very cool SS, and Nick Sandone had a neat aqua colored SS version. The one that I can't wait to see done is Cruz's. That paint job is just.......WOW!

Just completed for the NNL East, a new version of one of my favorite Camaros. I just did a basic build, no engine detail, body colored rear pan, and left off the black around the windows, as I liked the look better. One thing you need to do with this kit if using the kit wheels and tires, is to trim the front inner hubs to tuck the wheels in, and lower them slightly. The rear wheels were fine. The paint is Duplicolor Med Maui Blue, and the interior Model Master Steel.

Wow, that is very cool, and the detail is outstanding. I like how you made the radiator braces. Great work, Drago!

Lyle 'blue oval' Willits! Now that looks like a killer truck in the making. Nice engine choice, and the wheels look right for it also. You should have a seminar on how you got the wood color so real looking in the bed. Dan can relax now.

Chrome wheels in Nascar...again!
Randy Kern replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It also seems kind of ironic that the Toyota is made in America, and the other 'American' cars are made in Mexico and Canada. How much of anything is made in America nowadays? Toyota failing in Nascar? You mean like the truck teams last year? Also, you can't really blame the cheating thing on a whole company, that is a separate team problem, that has been going on since day one, only now it's getting harder to get away with it. Yeah, I own a Toyota. A Tundra that was built in America, that has not had a problem in the six years I've owned it. I love wagons, and my next vehicle could be the Dodge Magnum with a Hemi, only I'm not thrilled with it being made in Mexico, or the quality problems Chrysler has. Competition makes for better cars and racing, and you would think any motorsport would welcome competition, especially Nascar, where only three manufacturers are represented. But then again, some mindsets are not very open. -
Revell 32 roadster HEY THAT THING GOT A HEMI??
Randy Kern replied to Tom Kren's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You're off to a good start, Tom. After just finishing one of these again, the kit's motor does look puny, especially compared to the Hemi! If I do another one, I might go with the 429, like a fellow builder in another club put in his Hiboy coupe. He's using the kit from R&MCM. It fills the engine bay nicely. Are you going to keep an automatic in it? A manual with a nice high shift rod and skull to top it off would be my next choice. Nice retro look! -
Lyle, I hope you didn't OD on your meds when you were building this. Very cool. Even the twisted chainguard!
-
Irv, does that body use the El Camino kit or the Monogram hardtop? I have the El Camino kit, and would like to do a four door wagon like we had when I was a kid, but I've only seen this two door body. Looks good already, are you going to keep the front side spears? Might look even smoother without them. HOK silver basecoat and candy tangerine would also look good!
-
Brian, that is surgically clean, and the yellow paint just pops out. The wheel choice is perfect, also. I can imagine the length of time for foiling, too! Like you found out, there's always going to be somebody with a nicer build, but that '57 of yours is killer. Very cool. 8)

Jeff, that is a great kit, and once again your detail is amazing! I love this body style stock, street machine, custom, whatever. That is one awesome Cat. Please bring it to Saturday's meeting if you can.
-
Hi, Jason. Yeah, I only finished the Hiboy Roadster after the meeting. I had a great time there, and good talking to you, too. I hope you get that Shelby done for the NNL East, I'll look for you there. I'm a wagon guy, and the Speedwagon is my favorite hot rod kit (I have another one to do, too). I like to go for the clean, subtle look sometimes, and these kits are so good right out of the box. I would say Lyle does the best custom and kit-bashed '32s around. Hi also, Andy!
-
My humble contributions for the NNL East theme Deuces Wild, the 75th anniversary of the '32 Ford. The hiboy was just completed, and the Speedwagon was built last year. They both are pretty much out of the box, which I'm still perfecting before I do customs and cutting, with a few p.e. parts, int. decals and wiring. The Speedwagon is Duplicolor Bahama Blue, and the Hiboy is Tamiya Metallic Red.

Philly Sit Down Gathering
Randy Kern replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
You will definitely have to try to make the next one, Bill. NNL-worthy models, slot car racing and pizza in a hobby shop. Now that's a meeting! The Philly boys were great hosts, and it was cool to have guys from five clubs there. -
WOW. Eric, that has to be one of the cleanest, best built models I've seen lately. Fantastic paint, too. A superior build on a great subject! Oh, and Bob, you crack me up!
-
Incredible as usual, Jeff! I can't find the skull on this one, though. Hey, you wouldn't happen to be going to Philly with it, would you?
-
Carlos, you have an ultra-clean building style, my favorite kind! This Nova and your Mustang are first class builds. Hope to see more examples from you.

Some progress on "Topper", my 32 Ford project
Randy Kern replied to Steve H.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
That one looks pretty cool, too Lyle. Very detailed! It appears that Scale Repros Plus is only bringing back engine parts for now, though. Hey Steve, you're going to have to do another update on Topper and take back control of this thread, before the Skulls take over!
