  1. I have to agree with Harry somewhat, John. For me, and a lot of other modelers, flocking is a huge PITA. My best results are with white glue, but are still hit or miss. I tried the Faux Fabric paint on a Magnum I just completed, and it turned out pretty convincing. Although, you can get the textured paint available at most hardware stores that will do the same. A builder in another club told me he just sprays the paint at a distance, letting it build up a texture when it falls on the part of the interior he wants painted. I haven't tried that one yet, but on an older 'Vette he did, it looked very real.
  2. Bill, it would be interesting to see the bidding war if you auctioned any of your builds!
  3. Thanks for the comments, guys. If you like altereds and/or beetles, build it! Like I said, it's a really cool body, that fits the donor kit perfectly, and needed hardly any clean up. A great first time resin project to build. This would really look badass in black with flames!
  4. Michael, I like the Marina blue, Hugger orange, yellows and reds, but also wanted a different color on my 70 1/2 Camaro. I went with a little more subtle look, a Dupli-color Camel metallic with pearl clear. It's a GM color, I think used on later Monzas. It turned out ok, but I have another B-M kit to do, maybe in an eye-popping color. You're right, this kit does have one of the best sets of big n' little Cragars and tires around.
  5. I built this last year, but thought I'd repost it since we now have a drag racing category. It is the Ornery Otto VW Altered resin trans-kit by Andy Martin. (Shameless plug). It uses either the Bantam Blast or Winged Express kit. The fit-up was excellent, and it came out so neat, I may have to do another! The paint is Tamiya candy lime green, and the chassis, headers and prop rod are done with Rustoleum chrome paint, that when heated in a food dehydrator, hardens it and keeps it from rubbing off. It also gives it a polished aluminum look. I didn't add a lot of detail, as it was just a quick, fun build. One other note, this was my first resin body I worked on, and I didn't know about resin not liking heat. When I put it in my dehydrator on my paint stand to cure, the wires that hold the body pushed it apart about an inch from the heat! Attesting to the toughness of the body and Tamiya paint, I plunked it in very hot water, and squeezed it back to shape!
  6. George Davis, I sent you a pm on how to line up your text with the photos.
  7. My daily driver, an '01 Tundra. My ongoing project since '91, a 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite. It's completely original except for the wheels, and a full restoration with a 1275 is planned, sometime down the road. My son, in the photo, is now 16 and wants to drive it.
  8. My favorite's the big Healey gasser. Very cool. I'll have to try that with a Bugeye  . All great builds, Cap.
  9. Ahhh, you got the glass in! Beautiful build, and those wheels really do set it off, especially with the detail you put in. Ferrari red is nice, but that looks no-nonsense cool in that color. Superb, Antonio!
  10. That's right Bill, I remember you saying that about the coax shielding. I might have to try that before my eyes get any worse! The kit is great, with virtually no fit-up problems. Two things, though. If you use the kit tailgate hinge, make sure you file around the pins where the clamp glues on. This will give you room to open it after it's painted, and won't scratch the roof. It will still hold up on it's own as you can see. There is even a small tab on the tailgate inner panel that makes the tailgate snap shut slightly! I also didn't use the metal axles and pins, and could adjust and lower the wheels as needed. I lowered the front as much as I could to get a little 'Arter Rake' on it! Thanks for the comments, and I may just do another like Dan suggested. El Camagnum?
  11. Mike, any vehicle with skulls on it is cool, and that's a great build for that kit! Superb airbrushing, also. Those show rods are always fun, quirky subjects to build. Very nice.
  12. I love old station wagons, so I decided to put a retro color on a new Magnum. Dodge or Plymouth probably had a color similar to this, with a white top. I went with a newer looking silver top, though. Paint is Dupli-Color Alpine Green Pearl with H.O.K. silver basecoat on the top. This kit builds up nicely, which I did completely out of box. I did paint the kit guitar, but I also did this PSF Hobbies resin Gibson 335, that I made as an Eric Clapton Crossroads model. I'll get Mr. Geary to help me put the strings on
  13. I would consider this one of my all time favorite drag cars. Even with a few inaccuracies, it is still a great kit.
  14. Stunning paint and detail, Izzy. That is very cool. When you see a GT3 on the road, it has such an aggressive, squatty kind of low profile, it just looks ready to race. I think you nailed it!
  15. Hmmm..... you could do the full blown Chevy/Ferrari (Cheverrari?) street racer version in the Marlboro colors. Interesting choice Cruz, I just got that kit Saturday at the meeting from Ron! The kit wheels & tires are definitely too small. You may be the first to try that rolling stock, though.
  16. Ahhhh, NOW it can be seen! Your other under glass post is still not showing photos on my screen, Cruz. Love that color, and the application is flawless. Of course, Bill, getting tips from you helps!
  17. Another cool Camaro in the works, Andy. I also like your placement of the Yenko stripes. I went higher with mine, and ran them above the front wheelwell. Looking good, can't wait to see it done.
  18. That's pretty cool, Karl. I also saw that at the NNL East. Love them wagons! You'll also have to post your Willys wagon (a favorite of mine) that you built as a woodie. Welcome to the forum.
  19. Impressive work as always, Andy. The silver stripes work great with that color. PSF Hobbies now carries a lot of resin goodies for the new Mustang, also. The scratchbuilt nose looks cool, too. Are those wheels & tires from a diecast?
  20. Wow, Antonio you have a spectacular Ferrari there! Those wheels really set it off, and the paint is beautiful. I hope you find the glass for it. Who makes the kit?
  21. Oh, God Joe. You don't know what you've done! The sky is going to fall, clocks will stop, anarchy will ensue! Actually, it looks like you're off to a good start. Instead of hating a driver or car, the better thing to do is just root or cheer for your favorite. It's like our parents told us, if you don't have anything good to say....... Hey, good luck on the build, and make an extra wrecked one for your Buddy to proudly display!
  22. Hey Cruz, your Camaro photos are showing up fine here, but they disappeared over in the Under Glass category! Check it out.
  23. That looks good with those flares. The paint is pretty cool, too. Is that the Tamiya light gunmetal (TS-42) or the darker shade? I'm planning on using the light gunmetal with either a candy orange or mica red two-tone on a Dodge Magnum, and that shade would be perfect.
  24. Wow, gorgeous paint! I'd like a real one in that color, too. Another excellent build there, Cruz!
  25. Beautiful job on that, Dave. I like the spare tire window! Is that the Carrera kit?
