Dr. Epstien, at next year's Philly sit-down event, Nick and I will have to Let Lyle race some of our cars (uh...electric toys), and then he'll be hooked!

Painting Thin-line White Walls
Randy Kern replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
You know Lyle, that would be a nice little seminar at a CPMCC meeting sometime. Also, you could show off your very old and dirty compass. -
Wow, talk about surgically clean and precise! That's beautiful. Those guitars from PSF are neat, aren't they? I did an Eric Clapton Gibson for my Magnum. The case, amp and cord look fantastic, too. Way cool, Bill!

I love it, Lyle! (uh...Professor). You nailed the look perfectly. You know I'm going to have to do this kit as a street machine. I'll try to come up with a completely different paint scheme

New Kits From Modelmartin
Randy Kern replied to Modelmartin's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Andy, that Cad-attack is too cool! I need to order one, or if you're going to be at next year's NNL East, I think one will have to go home with me. -
Egads Bill, you really are a nut! Well, Beetle nut that is . That metallic green one is perfect. I also just finished a Lotus Europa in that shade. All of your other builds look great, too. Love the wheel choices also. I'm going to go with the rolling stock from the Speedwagon kit on mine, big 'n little Torque Thrusts, and the body as low as possible. Keep them Bugs coming!

I don't know how many of you are already using this glue, but I thought I'd post it here for those who haven't. It's called Crafter's Pick - The Ultimate! It is a white, water based glue, and has on the label that it's a super glue, but it's not a CA type. I think they just used the term Super Glue because it really holds better than the normal white glues. It dries crystal clear, and about the same consistency as RTV sealant, and almost as strong! It is thick, like a gel, so you couldn't really use it where you want it to pour into areas such as to flock, but for windows, headlights, small items, or anywhere you want a clear drying strong glue, this is the ticket. I just used it to glue a rear view mirror onto the windshield where you see the bond, and it looks good and holds great. I had seen it in a model magazine years ago, but couldn't find it until recently at a Michael's craft store. Try it, you'll like it!

That looks great, Lyle. The paint is spectacular. Did Cruz school you in the art of polishing? 'Vette engines were a pretty popular swap in those days, too. My brother still has his 2-dr. sedan from 1965!

Looks like another winner, Jeff. I have this kit to do, as it's one of my favorite Pro Mods. I didn't realize the body was off that much. As goofy as some of the bodies look in this class, I may just go the easy route and leave it alone .

Nothing cooler than skulls on a car! That turned out as mean looking as the real thing. The decals look fantastic, too. Great work, Jim!
-
Looking good, Izzy. I love the Indy cars from this era, as they had more curves! The coolest feature is the exposed header tubes. Another winner for sure.

That is one spectacular racing Porsche, Brendan. I love any version of the Gulf livery and colors, and that blue really pops on it. Clean and mean!

National Nameless Luminaries. I think this question was brought up about a year ago on the forum, and Lyle had a good short story version. Andy Martin can tell you all about it, he's one of 'em!

Into Minis are ya, Geoff? These two look great, especially with the Minilites. I'm anxious to see the one you have under construction finished. It looks to be another winner. This is my second favorite small car of all time, with my beloved Bugeye Sprite being first. I'll have to get going on the Morris racer I have started (I have all the Tamiya versions to do). To give it scale, you should park it next to a full sized Detroit '60s model. It makes it look like 1/32 scale!

Welcome to the forum! Great builds there, the '41 Willys and '40 Ford are two of my favorites. A friendly reminder, you need to put your real name in the signature box as per the forum rules, or you'll be told later. Welcome again, hope to see more.

Dave, that is beautifully done! I like builds that are impeccably clean and sharp, and you nailed it. I built this trans-kit last year, and it was the most fun of all the drag cars I've done. The resin parts are top notch, too. Very cool!

Very cool as always, Lyle. The only thing it needs is a sarcastic, grumpy old skeleton in the driver's seat!
-
Mike, that's coming along VERY nicely! Should look pretty cool when done (as always!). I actually do have a boxtop mocked up for my Bugeye/altered project

This is the Hasegawa 1/24 scale kit, built pretty much out-of-box. The paint is Dupli-Color Orange Mist, and the interior is detailed with Tamiya Metallic Gray. Since it has an engine, I made the louvered hatch open. It is a well-engineered kit, with the parts fitting up great. This car is my holy grail of exotic sports cars, as the styling is beautiful, and it's also very fast. I learned a couple new techniques building it, one from club members and one from this forum. Thanks!

This project has been slow going, somewhat by choice, and also because of a new pup in training (a rare moment of rest in the sig pic below). I took my good old time doing my very first polishing job using the Detail Master progressive grit cloths. Two full cans of Tamiya clear baked in the dehydrator worked fine. Again I have to thank my teachers Cruz and Geary for polishing lessons. It's almost done, as I have the taillights, exhaust tips, license plate and bracket, seals and decals, and a few black washes to do yet. I decided to have the louvered hatch open to see the engine. The headlights do have on and off adjustable positions, but then they're sitting in the pods loose. I think I'll glue them in the retracted position, as I can just see one pop off and go flying to the floor somewhere! I should have it done by this weekend hopefully.

Now that model looks familiar! Good to see you posting here, Dube. They're going to love your work. That MG gasser looks like it's coming along nicely. Hope to see you at the Nov. meeting. I will have my Miura there, it's just about done.

Wow Rob, that is fantastic! Boy, does it ever bring back memories. I was a junior in high school, driving my first car, a '65 Chevy Impala with a 327/300 and 4 speed. I don't even want to think about gas prices then . I love the diorama!

Very clean, and the color choices were perfect. The BMF is flawless, too. Looks great, Luis!
