  1. This is the Fujimi kit of the open version, that will not be built entirely out of box. A very simple curbside, no engine, some chassis detail, but nice interior, done in a wheat color. I didn't like the headrests, so they came off. I don't like the stock wheels, so I'm going with this big 'n little set I got at NNL East. They are the same diameter, but a nice clean 5-spoke, with nice side wall detail and great tread detail. I also have some pe scripts from R&MCo of Md, one I used on the dash, and the other for the rear panel. Very minimal chassis detail, but I will upgrade the exhaust tips to aluminum tube ones. As far as body color goes, I used a favorite Dupli-Color shade, Orange Mist. Now for detailing and assembly.
  2. That turned out spectacular! The grille trick looks great, stance perfect, killer motor, and the wheels a lot better widened. That color on it looks no-nonsense tough. Superior build there, John!
  3. Dave, your hairbrained idea turned out to be a really cool build! I love Novas and wagons, but a Nomad one is the ultimate. I think the stance is perfect, and Rallyes always look right on these. Great build!
  4. Love that color, especially on Novas & Camaros. You got the period look of it exactly. Another well detailed beautiful build there Lyle!
  5. Raul, maybe I shouldn't have divulged that information? Brian, that wheel & tire set is no longer made, so your best bet is shows, swap meets or e-bay, where I found them. I wish they would re-do 'em, I know they would sell well.
  6. Another stalled project I started earlier this year, and finally finished. Bob Downie's exceptional build of this kit got me started, once I finally found the right wheels and tires. This is the Gunze Sangyo 1/24 scale kit of the Austin-Healey 'Bugeye' Sprite, which I believe is the only manufacturer to do one in this scale range. It is a curbside, their 'low tech' version, as their 'high tech' version includes metal parts and photo etched badges. I built it how I might want my 1/1 Bugeye to look like some day. Instead of the ordinary old British Red, I spiced it up with Tamiya's Mica Red, with a black interior. The wheels are Fujimi's version of Panasports, to me the best looking brand of the infamous Minilite style wheel. Along with getting the car as low as possible, I also made a p.e. mesh grille, cut down the windshield, converted the dash to L.H. drive, made a Moto Lita brand steering wheel, added seat belts, solder roll bar, solder exhaust with dual aluminum tip muffler, and p.e. badges. Hopefully, I will embarrass my son (NickF40) with an early photo of him and our Bugeye in my signature box. Thanks for looking!
  7. Simply beautiful, with superb detailing. That's a winner for sure! Good choice on the wheels and tires, perfect for '60s muscle. A build to be proud of.
  8. That turned out beautiful, especially in silver with a red interior. The tonneau looks great, too. You gotta love a curvy body with bumps in the right places. Brendan, for a quick build that's awesome.
  9. Cruz, I don't know about God permitting, but I'll definitely be there, or I'm told there could be more broken bones! And Gregg, it's only 4,700 some miles for you.
  10. Ed, that wagon came out beautiful. I've loved station wagons from when our family had a new '59 Chevy wagon. As far as the little wing windows, this '63 shows them. http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/pictur...s_F-85_back.jpg
  11. Way too cool! I really like it with the top up, it looks menacing. That air cleaner tops off the motor perfectly. That would make a wild 1:1 street rod! Another fantastic build there, Raul.
  12. Another member of the kidney stone club, too. Thirty years ago I had my only (and hopefully last) one. I never had pain like that, and luckily passed it at the hospital. Only the size of a BB yet!
  13. John, that truck is dead-on cool! That color does help tone down a huge grille. I agree the stance is right on, really into the weeds. Can't wait to see it done!
  14. Very cool so far, Lyle. I like the color, it looks pretty close to Chevy's Garnet Red. Well, you've got some '32 ford in it with the wheels & tires, that look perfect on it.
  15. Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. James, the resin kit comes with a sheet of clear acetate for the glass, that went in easily, and being thinner it is clearer and more convincing than styrene. The resin kit's parts are typical high quality from Norm. Bernard, the custom engine parts came with the kit. Well Raul, after being laid up from an injury, I have no excuse not to get some projects finished, or you'll come looking for me .
  16. This is the Revell '41 Chevy pickup kit, with the R&M Co. of Md. resin 2 1/2" chopped cab with smoothed & peaked hood. The paint is Dupli-Color Med. Charcoal Metallic, with a red interior. Thanks to Lyle Willits for the wood painting tips. This is my first project attempt, so I should get better through experience. I also added engine wiring, carpeting, skull shift knob, solder dual exhaust with alum. tube tips, craft store find taillights, and '32 ford rolling stock. One of my favorite Chevy truck styles, I wanted it as low and clean as possible. thanks for looking!

This kit was my modeling slump breaker, as I built it pretty much out-of-box. I didn't like all the black details on the real car, so I went with body color vents and sides. I haven't done anything red for a while, and I wanted this to be an attention getter. The finish is Dupli-color Cardinal Red, with a black and red detailed interior. The only non kit items were aluminum exhaust tips. I didn't like the kit's styrene grille, so I used the mesh material in the kit for the grille. This was a fun build, and went together well. Thanks for looking!
  18. I'm just now finishing up this kit, and will post pics soon. the overall quality, fit and finish is pretty good, and it went together well with very few glitches. Not being factory correct, I wanted to paint the body all one color, even the front & rear vents, and detail wash between the grilles with black. That way I could glue the bumpers and grilles all on before paint. I also made a mesh grille to replace the plastic one, using the kit's material, which looks pretty good. I also left off the exhaust tips until after the body was on the chassis, and made better looking aluminum ones. The kit's decals aren't bad, but a few really won't work, such as the ones that are supposed to fit between the grilles. I liked the wheels it has, and thought I'd try what I sometimes do with Torque Thrusts, and paint the spokes flat light gray, leaving the rim chrome. I left the wheels and tires off until after the body was on the chassis, then I'll do Ismael's tip for altitude adjustment to place the body at the height I want. Like I said, that's all I have to do, so I'll try to get the photos up soon.
  19. Mark, that 'Cuda looks right at home with that paint scheme! The new 'Z' wheels look perfect on it, too. Very cool. Did Pete have this thing hiding back in the garage somewhere?
  20. Cool little basic rod! Hey, that skull knob looks familiar..........
  21. Raul, tell Otis that's Rosie, our Jack Russell. They're pretty much buds, but have their moments.
  22. Josh, if this is your very first build, then you're off to a good start! Clean building and learning the basics is the first step, the detailing, foiling, polishing, customizing etc. will come as you learn them. This forum has the best builders with advice about anything, just ask. You can also learn a lot joining a local model club if possible. My club members have helped me with many tips and techniques. Keep on building!
