Hillclimb with some unusual cars
Randy Kern replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, that car you're wondering about sure looks like a Vauxhall Victor, late '50s or early '60s, and was a GM subdivision in Britain. My favorite in the first video is the small black car with the wailing siren! Also, that flamed '58 Olds would be a lot faster de-chromed! -
Revell Audi R8
Randy Kern replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Len, I built one and didn't have the problems the reviewer had. The hatch/engine cover was mildly warped, but easily straightened out. Here is the link to my Under Glass post. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...c=13479&hl= -
I like it, and the foiling turned out great as well as the paint. It's like I told Nick, most people don't see the little goof-ups that we know are there. I think you're now ready to foil some 1958 bodies! Bring it along to display at the next meeting for those who missed it at the last one.

Drag Chute How to in MCM
Randy Kern replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Phenomenal builds, and great tips, but just who the heck is this Raul Perez guy??? I did a Google search and came up with this early photo (must have been his Halloween outfit ) -
if'n anybody gives a crap
Randy Kern replied to CB's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A bicycle accident??? Hey, they're just the thing for getting projects done while recuperating. I managed to complete about seven in the three months I've been off with a busted hip bone! You just have to break the right ones! -
That is really sick and cool! I love skulls and skeletons on anything. I'm sitting here with a ######-eating grin on my face as I look at the pics Love it!!

Rob, you raised the bar for these kits with this build. Every part of it turned out fantastic. That paint is beautiful, plus the wheels & tires, and the vinyl top really add to the period look. As nice as they come!

I don't build many models like the box art, but when I got this oddball kit a while back, I just had to make it like the box top illustration. Aoshima took a stodgy, late '70s Toyota and turned it into a street machine, complete with Cragar SS type mags, flames and a vicious rake. Hey Bill, it's even a true 2-dr. hardtop! So anyway, here's this curbside, funky car with it's diving board bumpers and huge stereo components, done up as a mean street machine. Paint is Testor's One Coat Lacquer Lime Ice, for a metal-flake effect. I took Lyle's advice and lettered the tires with Poly Scale acrylic white.

Ladies and Gentlemen: My 1933 Chrysler Imperial Indy Pace Car
Randy Kern replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Cars
Ismael, that's a masterpiece in every respect, especially knowing all that went into it. You have to make it to next year's NNL East so we can get a look at the real thing. Incredible build! -
I need the board's opinion on a future project.
Randy Kern replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Bel Air 2-Dr Sdn. in Mulsanne Blue. Even with the dog dish caps (I would have to put mags on it ) it would look good. A friend in high school managed to get a '68 427 4-spd 2-Dr Sdn. in that mint green color they had, and left it stock. Very strange when you heard that 427 rumble, and looked to see a plain-Jane big Chevy! -
Holy Lotus, that RX-7 looks like it should have John Player sponsorship! That looks like it's coming along nicely, Brendan. Nick can help with the decals if you want Question; is that a paint stand under the body, or did you make a dedicated decal installing stand?

For size comparison, both the Ferrari and the Mini are 1/24 scale!
-
This is the Tamiya 1/24 scale Morris Mini Cooper race version. It was built out-of-box except for the engine detailing. the paint is Dupli-Color Medium Maui Blue Metallic. Instead of the usual bright white roof top, I went with an off-white color to give it a different, old style look. I gave the Minilite wheels (10" Dia.!) a polished aluminum look with Rustoleum 'chrome' spray. This is a neat older full detail kit that was fun to build. The Mini Cooper has quite a proud racing heritage, winning many circuit championships, including consecutive Monte Carlo Rallies from 1964-1967. The original 'Italian Job' movie showed just how tough these little beasts were! Thanks for looking.

Mike, that turned out great, and looks pretty close to the real thing. Any version '55 Chevy is cool, but a street & strip old school look is killer! Hope to see it at a future CPMCC meeting.
-
Zoli, that couldn't have turned out better! I think the Mustang designers would be very interested in it. All of your custom touches work together making it into a very cool looking Mustang. Great build!
-
Excellent build there, son! It turned out really nice. Like I said, you know where the goof-ups are, but most people looking at it don't see them. Uh.... you didn't give the photographer credit......
-
Great build there, Ismael. Those Minilites look right at home on the new Camaro. I hope they get put on next year's race cars! Along with the Gulf colors, another favorite paint scheme. Interior details really stand out, too. Very cool!
-
A nice clean machine, there! That big motor looks good in it, too. Your wood treatment really came out nice, even the shift knob. A p.e. grille is definitely the way to go with these '32s, and Rep & Min Co of Md has the opened resin shell to make it easier. I seem to recall those wheels & tires came in an aftermarket set with four or five other styles of wheels, back in the '90s. Nice build!
-
Andy, both look great. It looks like you put your usual high level of detailing and build quality into yours. I like the Boss!

Which Daytona Spyder is in the Testors box?
Randy Kern replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Chris, I'll help build one of those Spyders. I promise not to put a 'Vette motor in it -
The '71 Impala is all done, (at least for now)
Randy Kern replied to Ron Hamilton's topic in Model Cars
Very nice build there Ron, and a beautiful color. You know, as soon as I would get that home, I'd have to put on a set of Torque Thrusts or Cragars Hmm.... that background looks very familiar.... -
Curbside or not, that is one nicely detailed Nova. The interior really stands out! Great job overall. It's interesting how different builders do the window and roof trim on these, much like the real cars. I've also seen 1/1 Novas with no bright trim around the windows at all, just the window frames, the window frames and drip rails, and just the drip rails as you did. Cool.

Beautiful work. A nice, clean street machine with great attitude. I love it!

Randy Kern replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gregg, that Ferrari belongs to Juan Nunez (hope I spelled that right).
