  1. Tommy, I remember seeing this build at the 2006 shows, and was blown away by the detail and craftsmanship. Simply beautiful, and a very cool diorama. My all-time favorite show rod, and you really nailed it. I built this when it first came out, and always wanted to do a better detailed one (maybe somewhat close to yours !). I did recently score a couple of these kits, an original version and a re-issue (both un-built) for 5 bucks each!
  2. Harold, the only plastic kit of the Mk 2-4 Sprites that I know of is the very simple, multi-piece body Lindberg version, that the box says is 1/32 scale, but is really closer to 1/28 scale. The early versions were even motorized (rubber band ). They've been re-issued over the years, but not too recently. Here are a couple that I built quite a while ago. As far as 1/24-1/25 scale, none exist that I know of. I've built some 1/43 scale white metal Bugeye kits made by K&R Replicas of England, and they also produce the Mk 2-4 Sprite kits in that scale. Hope this helps, or somebody else might know of others. Nice Sprite! Sadly, I'm getting ready to sell my 1/1 Bugeye.
  3. Looks great! You would certainly save on materials building this scale!
  4. Very cool, and all three done to your usual high quality, Andy! Are those Fujimi wheels & tires on the New Mini?
  5. Welcome to the forum, and I think you did an excellent job on that, including the decals. I think polishing now, especially over the decals, could rub them out. If you want, you could try to gloss up the decals by carefully using Future (floor wax) on them. If you can keep each decal you're working on pretty flat and level until it dries, a steady hand using a soft, wide brush will flow it on nicely, and it dries very evenly.
  6. I'd say after a 15 year break you're starting off pretty good with this build. I built this kit the first time around, and for a young rookie these chassis can get quite fiddly! Great detailing and scratch building, also.
  7. An amazing job on that Mini! I built the (static) Tamiya racer version last year, and have this Monte Carlo version to do, but now I see it would really look cool as a slot car! Simply beautiful!
  8. Another fantastic build there, Curt. Clean and beautifully done.
  9. Great job on that, Dingo! Boy, does that bring back memories, as I had a '74 Celica ST (bought new for $4,000.00!). I sort of did the tuner thing way back then, with lowering springs, Konis, performance exhaust and wheels & tires. Another one I wish I had back .
  10. All beautiful, Ron, but the 'Vette in that shade of blue with Torque Thrusts is my favorite!
  11. George, I have to also say go with the clear 5-minute epoxy, especially since those models tend to have heavy, metal parts. I just don't trust super glue's tendency to fog on plated, clear and painted surfaces. The Crafter's Pick is great, and very strong, perfect on clear parts, but takes longer to dry.
  12. Very cool, Andy. You still haven't lost your touch for building neat, unusual models!
  13. You have to include 'The Hollywood Knights' in the list. Lots of laughs with a bunch of cool cars including Newbomb Turk's '56 Chevy Panel 'Pie wagon', the Project 'X' '57 Chevy, a Cobra, '65 GTO and El Camino, and more. Voooooolare'!!!! ;)
  14. Simply beautiful in every way, Cruz. That Dupli-Color shade of red is also pretty close to one of my favorite Tamiya colors, Mica Red. Another masterpiece there, my friend!
  15. I love all the wheelstanders, and this one looks great, just like the box art! Beautiful job, Bob. Did you build the booth, also?
  16. I built this a few years ago, but haven't posted it yet. It's the Shirley Shahan kit pretty much OOB, with better Cragars from the '65 ElCamino. Decals from Slixx, and painted in Testor's German Silver, with the top left in white primer, and cleared. I did it as sort of a variant of his blue '67 Coronet. Thanks for looking!
  17. Man, there sure are some beautiful 'Cudas around here lately. Excellent detailing, and clean as can be. Great job!
  18. Another fantastic build from your....floor?? Chris, my dogs would eat the parts, and then I'd be building from the lawn.
  19. Good luck with your Miura, it will no doubt be beautiful when done. Too bad about the grille, but the parts to really watch are the side window louvers. Very fragile! Here's a link to one I did a while back. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...ic=7748&hl=
  20. Allright!! Now I feel special Hey, anything for the club, because WE LOVE OUR M.A.M.A.!
  21. I love it, especially with the top up!
  22. A smaller show than most, but lots of cool VWs, new and old. A few samples..... and lots more at the link: http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p40/Ran...lksfest%202009/
  23. I'm ready for the sub-sub-theme, build a model exactly like one on the flyer.
  24. Kevin, do you mean this one? If so, sorry but I don't have any close-ups. It was part of this big junkyard diorama.
  25. Chris, I use Dupli-Color primer exclusively, and have found also, different resin casters need different cleaners. The parts and bodies I've bought from Norm Veber and Modelhaus both only need a dish detergent, but most others need to have the Westley's treatment. I've just recently had to do this with my '65 Chevy wagon body from Modelhaus, but using a Drag City Castings hood.
