  1. Great photos, Tom! Here's my favorite. By the way, if that's your wife, she doesn't look too happy. Hosted on Fotki
  2. Did you say wagons? I LOVE wagons! Here's a few of mine. CarmodDave, that '66 Z/28 wagon is killer! Oldest to newest, starting with a 38 year old survivor from my youth
  3. A '49 Mercury SVT Cobra! Built by Raul Perez, who decided it should have a new home with me . Fantastic detail all over, but especially in the engine bay. I'm going to take it to some East Coast shows, starting with my club's 'Super September Showdown'. Here are a few pics I took, and the link to the under glass post. THANK YOU RAUL!!!! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...ic=9042&hl=
  4. Wow, Albert, that came out beautiful! I also don't care about correct paint colors, as long as you like it. I have to agree, you got the stance perfect. Those Bullitt wheels look great, plus the paint and detailing really stand out. Very nice!
  5. Once again the awesomeness of your builds continues to amaze us mere mortals. If it looks this good in photos, it should be a knockout in person. Get 'r done for the Showdown! I also built the Hot Wheels Camaro when it came out, for Nick to display in his room. It didn't turn out that great, and thankfully he played with it and destroyed it.
  6. I think it looks beautiful! After having built a few R&R resin kits, I can well appreciate the effort you have in it. The '55-late '60s Pontiacs are my favorites. Great paint and detailing. You gotta love all that chrome trim!
  7. Embossing powder and flocking are two different mediums. Jon, there was a thread on the forum a long time ago that was a good how-to on applying it, but I'm not sure how to find it. I use it instead of flocking because I find it's much easier to use, and I think it looks better. Any Michael's or A.C. Moore craft store would have it. Check out Marcos Cruz's current '71 Vega project, as he used it in his interior. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20646
  8. The AMT kit, built mostly OOB. Paint is Dupli-Color Orange Mist. A few added details are embossing powder for the carpet and on the rear shelf, shaving the antenna off the roof, and giving the wheels a shot of dullcote. I cleaned up the grille and gave it a little more depth by cutting out an insert using the mesh material that comes with some Revell kits (such as the Audi R8). Having a lot of black trim on this car, I still wanted the rocker panels a dark color. To help cut down the height of the sides, instead of black I used a dark charcoal color. This also helps tie them in with the dark gray hood decal. I got this tip from fellow club member Dan Peterson, telling me he noticed that the black rocker panel look is usually after someone patches the rust on them. Not using the axles lowers it to a better stance, also. Thanks for looking!
  9. Wow, that is one bad Buick! That body style looks very cool as a pro street. Great detailing and paint. I like it, it's neat and different.
  10. Very nice build. I love old trucks, and this one has that 'gotcha' look. I'd bet that paint would really pop out in the sun!
  11. You can't go wrong with that color combo and set of wheels. I'm not big on painted bumpers, but they seem to fit in nicely with those colors. Great job. '55 Chevys are near and dear to me!
  12. Lyle, are you sure it isn't a Studebord? Whatever, it's different, and cool. Who taught you how to paint wood like that? Have a good trip to the show!
  13. Ah, the Irv Arter of 'Arter Rake' fame. Wow, along with Lyle Willits and Tim Powers, these MAMA members really know how to detail paint wood! That Woody really came out nice, and those wheels look very cool detailed with paint. I also have one to do, and it is a LOT of wood to paint!
  14. Now that is cool, and I laughed out loud when I saw the name! . A neat build, and talk about short wheelbase!!
  15. A stunning build of a beautiful car! I love those body styles with the long, sweeping fenders. The colors are perfect for a look of that era. Harry can not only moderate, he can build!! .
  16. Curt, that turned out beautiful, as usual. I was thinking the same as Raul, about the time to build all those great looking models! Oh well... come on, retirement! .
  17. James, for a quick build, that has lots of great detailing and finishing work! Very convincing weathering on the chassis, and the paint and foiling are beautiful. Those early Dusters make cool street machines. I like this one!
  18. That's OK Cruz, I'll get to comment on his, IF HE EVER GETS IT DONE!
  19. Cruz is just being his modest self as usual. If you've seen his '60 Starliner on the forum, you know it blows away my wagon! http://images50.fotki.com/v1557/photos/0/1...c2009018-vi.jpg Maybe next year we can get the pavillion without the hill climb (for Lyle) .
  20. Nice and clean with just the right stance! Great wheel choice, too. A beautiful '57, Tom.
  21. Thanks for all the kind words, I consider my club and this forum's member's critiques the highest honors you can get. Raul, glad to hear the Bonny's getting around! Roger, those wheels are in the '64 Chevy pickup 'California Wheels' kit, the '59 Corvette and the '69 Shelby Mustang.
  22. Cruz, you're raising the bar with each build you do! Phenomenal detailing. As Scott said, those rotaries are a popular swap in Bugeyes and Spitfires, especially for track and autocross. LOUD!!
  23. Interior and chassis shots.
  24. This is the '65 Chevy Impala station wagon resin kit from Modelhaus, combined with the Monogram '65 Chevy Impala SS. My first car was a '65 Impala, and I love wagons, so I built one that I'd like to have in my garage! I had intended to do this for a club theme build (last year ) but it got sidelined. The Modelhaus resin body was nearly flawless, with only minor clean-up. The interior only had a couple pin holes, and needed just a little shaving to fit the chassis and wide rear tires. Vacu-formed 'glass' was supplied with the kit, and the windshield was ok, but I made new glass from acetate for the rear side windows. I wanted this to have more of a visual impact than a lot of detailing, so I did it as a curbside. Wanting to keep it clean, I shaved all the emblems and door handles. Paint is Dupli-color Med. Marblehead (a dark silver) and Toreador Red. The hood is from Drag City Castings, and surf boards from a parts vendor at my club's (CPMCC) annual contest, the Super September Showdown. Tires and wheels are Revell, along with an early 'Vette steering wheel and column mounted tach. I also added embossing powder for carpet, also on the console for texture, and aluminum tubing exhaust tips. Thanks for looking, and surf's up!
