  1. Sort of off-topic regarding availability of a Futureliner in scale, but I stumbled across this a few minutes ago, so I guess I'll just put it here... http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/11/19/futurliner-no-10-to-go-on-national-historic-vehicle-register-finds-permanent-home/
  2. As if I didn't already want a few of these badly enough already. Looks great!
  3. Thanks guys. The wrecker boom itself is made out of Plastruct strip- the winch and strap came from the Revell GMC wrecker.
  4. Nice! I restored a '62 kit a few years back- I'd love to dig up another one.
  5. You should be able to slip the brace up under the radiator- if you look there should be a "step" in the radiator to fit it. The only way I could see it not fitting is if you installed the grille shell to the radiator before attaching the fenders.
  6. The idea here was an old service truck, which was no longer used to tow customer cars or plow driveways, but is now used by the semi-retired shop owner to clear his property of snow and move around the various hulks he's accumulated over the years. So of course it looks a little haggard, but like most old yard trucks, still fires up and does its job without complaint despite looking like Hell warmed over. The Hillard name on the side is a nod to Irv Hillard, who owned a legendary salvage yard which only recently closed after almost sixty years of business.
  7. I'm thinking they ought to give Chris Slade a call...
  8. And yes, before you Commander Buzzkills out there chime in that not all Lindberg kits are junk... yes, you are right, there are actually some pretty good Lindberg kits in existence, but I just couldn't resist.
  9. Perfect!
  10. I've been on a roll building abandoned junkers of late, so I guess that trend will continue as the snow piles up...
  11. As a rule, I paint subassemblies as a unit. If the engine is supposed to be all (or mostly red, it's assembled and and painted red as a unit. There are exceptions- for that red engine I just mentioned I might leave off the oil pain and paint it as a separate part because the sump may be too close to the bellhousing, and paint won't get into the area between them.
  12. Better than starting with sheet plastic and a dream, though. For this guy, anyway.
  13. Guy in the Jeep did the Ferrari a huge favor.
  14. Nice... and I've filed away that part about making clear steering wheel rims for later use.
  15. I REALLY like the '56-style trim, and that combined with the wire wheels and the brown paint makes for a clean and classy looking custom. I have to admit I never liked this car, but ... you made it look good. Very good!
  16. Love it! I've heard horror tales about this kit, but looks like you pulled it off pretty well. That he did- http://selvedgeyard.com/2011/03/06/steve-mcqueens-mean-machines-the-1957-jaguar-xk-ss-green-rat/
  17. Cool! These come with two sets of wheels and tires- one set installed and and optional set on a rack.
  18. If Revell came out with another version of their '49 Mercury custom kit, I wouldn't gripe if it came with a closer-to-stock-appearing body and/or if they put out a '51 version.
  19. I'd call this a prime example...
  20. And it probably was peddled by one helluva TV spot...
