  1. Looks promising. I'm already in love with the no-chrome look.
  2. I feel bad for the Ranger, forced to spend the rest of its life looking like some kind of weird mechanical turtle...
  3. Got a '66 Falcon rebuilder in a trade with jsipes. Thanks, Jason!
  4. None of those are Exide Orbitals- that's Exide's answer to the Optima dry-cell. That being said, you could make the Optima work by filling in the depressions on the long sides and using styrene rod to add the second set of top posts.
  5. Question- anyone know of a treaded tire about the same height and width as the slicks in the AMT '66 Nova Pro Street? Everything I have (AMT Mickey Thompson and Revell Firestone) are way to big to fit without cutting the chassis.
  6. My thoughts exactly.
  7. Nice! So far of all the ones I've seen, this is my favorite build from the '50 Olds kit.
  8. I've wanted to try something like this in 1:1 for years (minus the twin engine part, of course), so of course I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
  9. Another option- I've seen a few 1:1 cars where the alt is mounted to the rear axle pinion snout and run off the driveshaft. Yes, this means it is not charging when the car isn't in motion, but it seems to work well enough- I've never heard of any significant charging problems with such a setup.
  10. I even like these as the 4-door model- they have an almost 'Benz-y' look to them.
  11. And that's what makes having all those Testors glue tubes around worth it!
  12. Thanks guys! Thought of the white roof, but I didn't want it to resemble the '53 box art car too closely, you know. Weird you mention my highlighting of the grooves in the foiled areas, as I did nothing of the sort. That's the stock '52 hood ornament- I believe it's in the '53 kit box too even though the '53 replaced it with the scoop. Look for parts 61 and 62 on the chrome sprue.
  13. The book and the movie share little more than a name- Stanley Kubrick's druggy insanity is fun to watch, my friends and I like to get together and watch it every year around Christmas. But the '97 TV miniseries does the book justice.
  14. I've got one of those kits laying around, and I was planning on doing more or less the same thing with it. Keep us posted!

  16. Huh. Well, then... That one isn't orange enough.
  17. First one done for '13! This one has a Mustang II front suspension (nabbed from a Monogram '37 Ford), wheels and carbs from the Revell Tweedy Pie, and a scratchbuilt finned cylinder head. Started out as the Teague stock car kit.
  18. Bob forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was mad. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !"The next morning when his wife woke up, she looked out the window to find a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has not been seen or heard from since last Friday.
  19. I have no idea why, but I've always wanted that car in kit form.
  20. Love it! I think big wheels look perfect on a big car... and Galaxies of this vintage were, indeed, gigantic! I think it comes with age. I've had two of the AMT '68's, and both of the bodies were warped beyond much use.
  21. Who's this Corey guy?
  22. Or at the very least paint it orange. I don't think I've ever seen one of these (1:1 or model) painted orange, though there might be a compelling reason or two for that...
