The Hornet's Nest: Hudson Hornet Build Madness!
Chuck Most replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I think I got it low enough... -
Fox Chassis (Ford) community build anyone?
Chuck Most replied to whale392's topic in Community Builds
If you want to build a 1:25 four-eye notch, I have it on good authority that the new Revell chassis will work under Kris Morgan's '79 transkit body. You'd still need to backdate the interior and engine (unless you want a restomod), but I might be jumping in with one of those. That, and there's the matter of me still having to wrap up the Mark VII. -
Carbon fiber wheels... $15K per set!
Chuck Most replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can also get a wheel encrusted with fake diamonds. Price? Just under sixty-three grand. Each... http://www.customwheelsdirect.com/html/wheels_brand/wheel_detail.php?id=54664 -
Touchy, Touchy Terms
Chuck Most replied to James2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What Harry said. Next time you are at the parts store ask the counterman for a part for your 2004 Ford Lincoln and see what happens. Well, Apple trademarked rectangles with rounded corners, so anything's possible... -

With the huntin' dog chained to the bumper! I've actually seen that. -
Ford Transit MK2 'British Gas'
Chuck Most replied to Volvoman's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Love it! I've never seen a Transit in person (I'm a Yank, after all), but I've always had an affinity for them, and I try to stash the Esci kits as I find them. -
Thats the old 1911 IHC Motor Truck kit by Minicraft.

It's a VERY early '67 model, and somebody at the paint shop in the factory was asleep at the switch. Lovely model!

Removing old Revell peel & stick decals
Chuck Most replied to wrecker388's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, David! Goo Gone is what I actually meant. All these adhesive removers with all those 'G's' in the name... -
It'll work- just turn the flareboards down to 90 degrees and maybe find a different tailgate if you want to make it look like a stock '70's Flareside. Just using the '53 bed on that truck as-is looks okay though, too- I think I have one around here somewhere I built like that.

Removing old Revell peel & stick decals

Careful heat with a hair dryer should take off the actual stickers- a few sessions with an adhesive remover like Goof Off should take care of the adhesive residue. As always, you'll want to test out the adhesive remover of your choice on a piece of plastic from the same kit to make sure it won't do anything goofy with the plastic. -
He does a '37 and a '47, but no '41-46 style COE. At least there isn't one listed on his site.

I still have the Toyota on the back burner, but I remembered this Courier I started. This might be a good excuse to finish it.

Can't seem to find that Lindberg Lincoln I know I have. But when I do... watch out! -
I hear some guy dug up an original issue of the MPC Fire Truck and compared it to the recent Round 2 reissue- that might be in the December MCM if I'm not mistaken...

Mark is building a 7? What kind of insanity is this???? Seriously though, this is extremely cool! I'd wondered when you'd just skip using kits altogether and conjure up your own 7- guess now I have my answer.

Okay- think I've got something here... This would be Revell's 67 Malibu kit. The blower setup and drive belt are from the Revell '68 Corvette kit- these parts are a DIRECT swap for the Malibu's kit-based intake, FYI. I've also lowered the car a bit, but I'd say this thing is a long way from finished, much less 25% of the way there.

Lonestar Wrecker "The Reaper"
Chuck Most replied to modeltruckmafia's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice truck... but the driver might want to tidy up that sleeper a little. -
Just an update- the most recent '53 Club Coupe I purchased (two weeks ago) has the fender skirt cut lines relocated. So it would appear any Hudson variants Moebius brings out from here on out will have the fender skirts properly centered over the rear wheels.

Wayne- count me in- I'm just not sure what vehicle I'll be using or when I'll jump in. '67-72 body style, or '73-79 stylle? If you want the former, you could go with the R&R Vacuumcraft '72 (which isn't the best quality wise), or wait for the Moebius kits to come out later in the year. For the latter you could go with the AMT '79 F-350, though you'd have to do something about the long Camper Special-spec bed. Unless any Ford truck will do- you could also find the AMT Ford Courier, which would make a really nice little Pro Street hauler. There were a few different versions of that one- one with a stock long Styleside (wideside) bed, and one with an aftermarket Flareside bed- the Flareside version reissue from around 1995 seems to be the easiest and cheapest to find. Both the AMT F-350 and Courier kits have separate frames and multipiece beds, so back-halving and tubbing them shouldn't be a big deal.

There are a few 'hole in the wall' automotive modeling magazines out there if you know where to look, though most of them are dedicated to one particular niche in the hobby. 'Kustom and Hot Rod Models' comes to mind, but I know there are at least a few others I'm not remembering at the moment.
