  1. Weren't the current Lindberg 1:20 Vega and Gremlin kits Palmers, too? I want to get the Vega to build one for my mom (her first car was a Vega... and she kept buying GM vehicles for nearly 30 years after that regardless... ), but just a quick glance at the box art cover girl sends me reeling. The Challenger wasn't too bad. (Note that I said 'wasn't too bad' not 'pretty great' )I sometimes have a hard time with the fact it was a Palmer kit at one point. The Palmer 'Big Drag' Challenger, on the other hand...
  2. Love the 'stock' era stock cars! I'd love to see that Matador back in the lineup.
  3. Yeah- kind of what I'm thinking just by 'eyeballing' it. Looks like the old MPC Goodyear Blue Streaks would tuck in there, too.
  4. Check out Dupli-Color Bahama Blue or Testors Colors by Boyd Pacific Blue- they're both a pretty close match, even though their 'blueness' is highly debatable! (They're more a turquoise than a blue.)
  5. Cannot WAIT to get my grubby little mits on this one!
  6. If I may interrupt the tomfoolery just a tad- how wide are those rear wheel tubs? I've got a bunch of Revell Pro Street rear tires that could use a new home.
  7. If you start to have strange thoughts or hallucinations due to the meds... REPORT TO THE WORKBENCH IMMEDIATELY!!!!
  8. Yummy!!!!
  9. Mark- I was HOPING you'd post those, because I get some perverse enjoyment out of seeing them. Especially that Chevette(?). Uh, Pinto... uh... whateveritis...
  10. Whoa, Gregg! Killer stance- looks like I won't be the first guy to build one of these as a pro tourer! And yeah, the grille does look way better from that angle.
  11. LOVE that Pontiac, I had to resist the urge to slap a '55 Chevy stepside bed on this one. Maybe next time!
  12. The fun continues! Used some AMT Parts Pack headlight buckets, to replicate the black '57's missing bezels... And wrapped up the bed, with some scratchbuilt toolboxes, a wooden bumper, some tie-down eyelets, and some taillamps from a Revell midget trailer...
  13. Judging from what I've seen, and the photos posted, I think I've come to the conclusions. 1- The kit is flawed, but it's not as monumentally bad as it could have been. 2- It's a bit pricey for how flawed it is. 3- I still want one. 4- If they're available at a discounted price... I want MORE than one!
  14. I believe the engine still exists... it's the one used in the Boss Nova drag wagon. I think AMT retooled this Buick into the Nova, then turned the Nova into the Boss Nova drag version. I can't confirm this, but that's what I've heard.
  15. Here's the 'business end' of the ex-business coupe coming together...
  16. Liking what I see! I'm voting for scrapping the S-10 frame and blowing the dust of that soldered one!
  17. The AMT '56 T-Bird? Man, that thing really, really, REALLY should have gone through a few more rounds before it got released...
  18. C'mon, Chris... what is love if not 'reverse hate'?
  19. Today's efforts- wedged in the Big Block Chevy V8 and 4-speed, and the '72 Cutlass brake cylinder/booster. Had to shuffle some stuff around to fit the Rat, but I made it work...
  20. Hulings Hobby House in Alma, MI sells MCM as well. (And he DOESN'T sell that other mag!)
  21. I'd just try an easier project and go back to the '40 later. Whenever a project befuddles me, I just set it aside for a bit until I'm not mad at it anymore.
  22. Thanks, Dave! Yeah, those rear wheel wells on the chassis do look... accomodating!
  23. My memory isn't too clear, but I do believe those traction bars are from one of those kits, or at least they contain something close to those.
  24. A minor progress report... Here's the finished rear cab bulkhead, with window in place. The window is from a '60 Chevy pickup, installed 'inside out'. I also added a rear shock crossmember and added the kit's shocks- I'll detail paint the various bits later on.
