  1. To anyone who ever said a Falcon could never look mean... I refer you to Gregg's latest image.
  2. Loosely based on a car I've seen out and about in my neck of the woods. Revell Black Widow/150 kit, with a scratchbuilt flatbed and cab wall, a 454 big block, and a general rusty and crusty demeanor.
  3. I've sort of built the 'Ramblur'. I set it up on a pro street '66 Nova chassis, added an interior and AMC engine, and some new wheels, and turned it into a '61 Rambler American street machine. First I did it as a pro street- Then it got damaged en route to a show, so I rebuilt it as a 'Slo Tourer'-
  4. Keep a weathered eye on the horizon, this one should be in "Under Glass" tomorrow.
  5. A lot of people ask me where I get all my weird, offbeat kits and parts. Right here! I try to swing by at least once a month. http://www.deanshobbystop.com/
  6. I'm fortunate to live close enough to Hulings Hobby House in Alma, MI, as well as the legendary Dean's Hobby Stop in Flushing, to be a regular customer. There are also quite a few 'hole in the wall' mom and pop places near me which sell models.
  7. Not a thing about it I don't like... except that 1. I didn't build it, and 2. it's not on my shelf! Other than that, it's golden!
  8. Going back to the Petty drag racing thing- NASCAR actually used to sanction drag racing for a breif period. If I remember, it ended sometime in the mid '60's.
  9. Touché... I guess it might me a personal preference thing. Yes, a lot of my models wear hoods, and cruddy engine detail is a BIG pet peeve of mine (mostly because cruddy engines don't look good in models with no hoods at all), but personally, on a full-body car like a Falcon, I can live with substandard chassis detail. I know some guys like to go crazy with chassis detail, and I drool over their efforts... doesn't mean I have to do that myself on my own stuff! Maybe Trumpeter should do a 'Throwback' series for their next car kit. Slab chassis, metal axles, sealed hood, the whole deal.
  10. Truer words were never spoken. You create a part to replace a missing part, and just as you finish that scratchbuilt part, the lost kit part just reappears out of thin air...
  11. Check with the Modelhaus. If he doesn't make it, you're just gonna have to dig!
  12. That orange thing looks like it used to be a '73-'79 Ford F-series cab. I like it.
  13. Not *technically* finished, this one will end up in a diorama, but you get the gist. Yes, that's a Jeep bed on a Dodge, and yes, there actually used to be a '70's Dodge pickup in my area that looked a lot like this.
  14. BMW- Brings Mechanics Work Brings More Worries Barely Moving Wreck Bavarian Manure Wagon Brings Me Women Break My Wallet Built (from) Mercedes Wastebin
  15. The King Ranch and Harley editions were more than stickers and badges, the Harley edition had a supercharger, for Pete's sake! ON the flip side, why did Chevy have a North Face edition? Ever seen a North Face Chevy Edition jacket? To answer the first part... no freakin' idea where the 'King Ranch' thing comes from either. The trucks are kind of tacky Imho. I'd still love a Harley F-150, though.
  16. Back on page 4, you saw my '46 Chevy dumper. I got rid of it, but its new owner had it out and about tonight... That's the new owner, Gary, in the second photo, and my buddy Chad in the third. Location... out front of Ghost Town Saloon in beautiful downtown Elwell, Michigan.
  17. In 1985, Honda had a version of the Accord called the Accord STD. It only lasted one year. The STD stood for 'Standard', but given that particular abbreviation's more common application, well, somebody in Honda's Marketing team dropped the ball!
  18. This shady character WILL be buying several...
  19. Yeah, getting the shape right would be the trick.
  20. Yep, or like comparing an '08 Model T to a '27 Model T. Totally different monsters, even if they look identical. It would seem to me a no-brainer for someone to kit this (plasic OR resin), I'd be FIRST IN LINE to buy one! (That and a Squareback.)
  21. And all Ford 'Super Duties' (I hate the word 'super', by the way...) have the same frame and basic suspension parts, aside from the fact that some of the heavier models (450/550), have a solid front axle on 2wd models. They can carry and tow more than they're rated for, I can personally attest to that! Side note, I always thought R/T stood for 'Rotten Transmission' or 'Rotten Trackbar'. (I used to own a T-300 Ram... )
  22. My '60 Plymouth (Jo-Han kit) '59 Cadillac Hearse (modified AMT/Ertl Ecto 1) '29 Model A Ford '15 Model T Ford (Not a wagon, but hey, it is a longroof!)
  23. Well... it's that, or a truck built by a manufacturer which was, at one time, a branch of the federal government.
  24. Freakin' FLYWHEEL dwarves the rest of the locomotive!
  25. Wonder if that technique could be used to replicate a geyser of water from a broken hydrant? (Diorama idea I've been kicking around in my head...)
