My, that frame is gorgeous! I'll certainly be watching this one.

Well... the war horse has begun to take shape. Basics, the Rommel's Rod tracks (still have to figure out the frame and bogeys for the tracks), Ford C-600 front and rear axles (both solid mounted to the scratchbuilt frame), Revell Peterbilt 359 front wheels and tires with the chrome stripped and resprayed in 'Chrome Silver', and an AMT Peterbilt tranny attached to an ALLISON V12. Obviously in its early stages, still have to add some more details and of course some weathering, but the ball is rolling now!

I've been thinking of this one quite a bit, I WILL be jumping in eventually. I've kind of reconsidered my original thoughts- now I think War might be the "easy" one, I can think of quite a few different ways to combine elements of military, apocalyptic, and weathering techniques into that one. Should be able to whip up somethin' pretty decent there! The 'Death' car might be the deusy now... Nevertheless, stay tuned. Quite pleased with myself- 92%. Two years off on the Maroon Merc, brain farted and was just plain wrong on one, and since I prefer my '50's cars nosed, totally tanked the hood ornament segment. Still, not too shabby, I suppose.

Well, I built a model of how I thought I'd build it when I owned it, using the Revell cab. It's around somewhere... This version- not being able to find a set of wheels like that are about the only thing stopping me!

Man, never realized how much the firewall on the AMT kit intruded over the engine compared to the 1:1!

Just put them on a full bodied model built to replicate an airbag equipped vehicle with the suspension 'aired out'.

I'm voting for the 'brushed' look myself, can't say I've ever seen a Falcon's flanks done up that way, but it would look cool.

Looks like the Buick LeSabre concept, with a Studebaker nose. Whatever it is, I like it.

On my Rambler, I used the interior tub from a junk SC/Rambler kit, and the top boot is from a '50 Ford. Oh, and I cut out the stock grille (it had two big slots for the Moon tank), and replaced it with a trimmed down '60 Olds insert. And yes, Casey, it does have the tires with a flame tread pattern. (So did the Revell sidewinder.) No idea if such a tire exists in 1:1, but it looks cool.

Yep- about the only correlation between the Chevrolet car and the Chevrolet brothers was the name. If I recall, Durant died penniless managing a bowling alley, while Henry Ford was in control of his company almost until the end, even though he was, by most accounts, totally senile. And the Chevrolet brothers resorted to making speed parts for Fords. Chalk one up for Fo Mo Co! As to the question at hand, technically speaking, no, it's no longer a flathead, but since it began life as a flathead, it will always be a flathead. In every magazine article you read, such a setup is ALWAYS described as an ARDUN flathead.
