  1. I've had pretty good luck with a brass-bristled wire brush and GENTLE pressure, but I've never tried cleaning one out quite that small. I will say do NOT try solvents- you (or rather the drill bit) will be worse off than before.
  2. One of my favorite kits to see built up!
  3. Once it's done, I'm willing to bet your only gripe will be it's not 1:1!
  4. Hmmmm, Tim, so I guess this means that your orange '07 is long gone? One little gripe- the "Aerobird" bowed for '83, not '84. The '80-'82's were the last of the boxy, scrunched-down Granny's car T-Birds. The Aerobird was a D-R-A-S-T-I-C improvement over that generation, and only got better as the years wore on.
  5. Probably not. But still....
  6. Looking very good- I keep passing on this kit at my local shop, but now that I'm seeing some of the individual subassemblies going together, I'm leaning more toward the "gonna buy it" side of things! Oh- I do use superglue to fasten plated pieces such as tanks as well. If they do get fogged, a thin coat of gloss clear will get rid of the haze.
  7. Cool to see this old '68 being redone. That Pro Street Nova frame works pretty well with those Phantom Vicky wheels- I've used that combination of pieces myself in the past!
  8. Very cool!
  9. The windows are the thing that have kept me from trying to do exactly what you are trying to do! I've never had much luck with flush-fit glass. This would be cool resin piece- I know for a fact that the '93-'97 Rangers all shared the same cabs. For a '98-up Supercab you'd just need to scribe in the panel lines for the rear hinged 'flap' doors. The regular cabs were different- the '98 and up were stretched about 3" behind the doors. Hope that conversion job works out for you James! Maybe it'll inspire me to get started converting my '95 kit into an '01 Edge!
  10. I'd really like to see the '66 kit reissued. I'm really suprised that kit isn't seen more often- it's easily the best air-cooled Beetle kit ever. Then again, I'd really like to see somebody do a Thing kit, and apparently I'm the only one! Wish in one hand, do something else in the other...
  11. Andy shouldn't be too mad at you for what you did- it looks killer! He might get a bit testy if he sees what I've got in store for one of his center-door '15 Model T sedan bodies, though.
  12. I think he's right- Champagne Gold might work, but it's more, well, GOLD than beige. I can't really tell, but is the box art car metallic or solid?
  13. Hmmmm... the 'star car' of Summer 2011's biggest blockbuster... 4Fast4Furious...Moscow Breakdown!
  14. Just curious... what kinds of models were these "Negative Nancies" bringing to the show? If they were picking on the 'newbie' modelers, I'd have been over at their table with a big ol' poop-eating grin, Simon-Cowelling the living daylights out of each and every one of those guys' models!
  15. He's right, and it does kill the buzz when, like Glenn, I plan not to use the bumpers! Then again... I wonder if cutting off the fenders would help?
  16. Hmmmmm.... didn't see a SD 33 or SD 33T on your list there, Dave! Well, looks like I'll have to do it! Right after I scratchbuild a VW Rabbit diesel mill...
  17. Just wait for the chopped, Allison V-12 powered version I keep telling myself I should build!
  18. The cab is from R&R Resin- they call it a '56, but it is in fact a '57 Golden Jubilee Custom A-100.
  19. I posted this in the light trucks section a while back, but I thought I'd post it here as well- seems like people kind of overlook the trucks area, even though there are some really cool models there! (This ain't one of 'em! ) Basically, this is an R&R Resin '38 cab and interior tub, plopped down on a Monogram '50 F-1 Chassis, and the bed is scratchbuilt, with '28 Lincoln fenders and running boards. The fron wheels are hybrid '50 Ford/'32 Chrysler, while the rear duals are hybrid '50 Ford/'32 Chrysler/'28 Lincoln units, with the Triple Diamond hubcaps from a Motor City IH Metro kit. The whole thing is hosed off in the same can of School Bus Yellow I used on the Metro. Not much to it really, but I still think it just might be the coolest thing I've ever built!
  20. First off, all the paint and modifications were started by another modeler. He lost interest in the project and I finished it- really about the only contributions I made (besides getting the last few bits together) were the mirrors, mud flaps, and rear bumper. I also slapped on some door handles, cab clearance lights, and fender turn signals. Still turned out pretty cool!
  21. Looks fantastic with the weathering, and I have to say I'm really diggin' the Buick 8!
  22. Why? Because I wouldn't have a bullet-riddled windshield to obscure my gory demise?
  23. Looking cool so far- but that grille looks more like a '97/'98 than a '99!
  24. I'm just curious if there are any kits or aftermarket sources for passenger car and light truck diesel engines. I'm planning to do a couple of diesel rat rod models, but all I can find are the big-rig diesels. Anything from a 4-cylinder turbo to a 7.3 Powerstroke would work!
