  1. The weathering isn't even done yet. I'm also considering leaving the graphics off the car, or replacing them with something a little more forum-friendly than the original doodlings. The unobstructed view of the crusty old body is growing on me, so I think I may go the first route.
  2. Very cool, but I'm a bit more intrigued by that '56 Chevy push truck!
  3. Glad I could contribute in some small way to this masterpiece, John! Since I can't put into words what I think about this model, I'll just let one of those motivational posters do the talkin'... Now, I've got to wonder what you'll do with the rest of that Lincoln kit...
  4. I'd say just go with basic white and gold- 90% of the old camper rigs you see are done up that way... or what about Krylon Hunter's Camo?
  5. Uh, Lyle... I want a Black Widow. So what you're saying is, even though I'm not even 30, I must be over 60? I mean, they say sixty is the new forty, but come ON...
  6. Looks way better than any of the Hubley kits I've built (i.e.-none!). After seeing this, I might just have to give a die cast kit a go. As always, very cool model, Tom!
  7. Ah, one of the 'forgotten Falcons'. Honest, nobody seems to remember the later Falcons (and NOBODY remembers the '70 Fairlane-based Falcon!), and this one's a drag car? Very cool. I don't possibly see how you could go wrong here!
  8. Must...have...that...Checker.... Guys- check out STAR Models- he sells R&R resin, and might have one in stock!
  9. Looks like a pretty sweet project! And yeah, I've often been bummed when the kit didn't even come close to what the box art showed! More times than I care to count...
  10. First one I've seen in blue besides the box-art car! One of these days I'm going to build the 428 in Competition Orange, and do a phantom convertible version.
  11. Another beauty from your bench!
  12. The latest updates... I made up a dash from diamond plate, and also a rear frame crossmember/spring cover, both adorned with Ma's Resin bolt heads. I also drilled out some bullet holes in the body... Try loading a 1:25 scale gun one of these days... you talk about a pain in the hiney!!!! And, well, did some other stuff... I added real, 1:1 window screen from a real, 1:1 scale screen door (stretched a bit to make the pattern more diamond shape than square), added some rust to the bullet wounds, and slapped on the ex-con rod/current pitman arm, which was scratchbuilt from styrene and some more of Ma's Resin's bolt heads.
  13. A little bit o' progress to report.... The Revell Van bed is now in place- And I've begun work on filling the driver's side cargo door... ...and opening it's companion on the passenger's side. I even managed to do a fit check- looks like I'll need to finish off that door jamb, as well as some other open spots revealed by the opening rear hatch.
  14. Other than the inherent 'springy-ness' of the I-beam axle, there's no spring at all! At least not at the moment!
  15. Lookin' sweeter all the time!
  16. Surprised nobody's asked about the front suspenion...
  17. The differences were very, very minor. '97's had the NASCAR style exhaust that exited just ahead of the rear wheel. Ford found out this caused discoloration of the wheel from the exhaust fumes, so for '98, the exhaust was extended over the axle and exited out he back in the more customary location just in front of the rear bumper. Both '97 and '98 were otherwise identical, as both years had the same grille and front bumper- The earlier Revel-o-gram kits had this style grille, but as far as I know the only Revell kits with the '99 style grille were the Lightning and Harley Davidson versions. On that '99 style, the bumper was different, the grille 'dipped' down into it a little, and there were different inserts (the Lighting had a mesh setup, while the regular F-150 had the old style 'bar' setup)- That's what kind of throws me- the bumper on this one looks like the '97/'98 style, and since the second-generation Lighting wasn't introduced until '99, and the Revell kit is a '99, and Sonoma says (and I believe him!) all the parts are from the Lightning kits, I don't see how the '97/'98 grille and bumper got into the mix, unless he modified them. But at any rate... I'm really liking the buildup, and yeah, I really think Ford should have built a Super Cab Lighting! (Well, the Harley Editon pretty much was a SuperCab or Super Crew version of the Lightning, but still!) Now if only somebody would do a kit of the new SVT Raptor!
  18. Yep- that new Testors color in the "One Coat" line. Not my favorite, but it does look pretty good on this truck with the cream top, wouldn't you say?
  19. Coming along quite nicely... wow, I need to dust off one of my semi tractor projects. Those lights look killer! ( I would have said "They're illuminating", but I want to earn your laughter. Now pull my finger!)
  20. Very cool- I especially like the use of thread for the piping on the upholstery!
  21. Great buildup of this kit, and I kind of like the color, too, even if it is not correct for the car!
  22. Poorly. Quite poorly, indeed...
  23. Finished up the basic chassis last night- there are still a few widgets and doo-dads to add, but this is bascially it- I also cobbled up a bench seat from scraps of styrene sheet-
  24. Wouldn't want to take that puppy out for a spin on a bright, sunny day!
