  1. He's right, and it does kill the buzz when, like Glenn, I plan not to use the bumpers! Then again... I wonder if cutting off the fenders would help?
  2. Hmmmmm.... didn't see a SD 33 or SD 33T on your list there, Dave! Well, looks like I'll have to do it! Right after I scratchbuild a VW Rabbit diesel mill...
  3. Just wait for the chopped, Allison V-12 powered version I keep telling myself I should build!
  4. The cab is from R&R Resin- they call it a '56, but it is in fact a '57 Golden Jubilee Custom A-100.
  5. I posted this in the light trucks section a while back, but I thought I'd post it here as well- seems like people kind of overlook the trucks area, even though there are some really cool models there! (This ain't one of 'em! ) Basically, this is an R&R Resin '38 cab and interior tub, plopped down on a Monogram '50 F-1 Chassis, and the bed is scratchbuilt, with '28 Lincoln fenders and running boards. The fron wheels are hybrid '50 Ford/'32 Chrysler, while the rear duals are hybrid '50 Ford/'32 Chrysler/'28 Lincoln units, with the Triple Diamond hubcaps from a Motor City IH Metro kit. The whole thing is hosed off in the same can of School Bus Yellow I used on the Metro. Not much to it really, but I still think it just might be the coolest thing I've ever built!
  6. First off, all the paint and modifications were started by another modeler. He lost interest in the project and I finished it- really about the only contributions I made (besides getting the last few bits together) were the mirrors, mud flaps, and rear bumper. I also slapped on some door handles, cab clearance lights, and fender turn signals. Still turned out pretty cool!
  7. Looks fantastic with the weathering, and I have to say I'm really diggin' the Buick 8!
  8. Why? Because I wouldn't have a bullet-riddled windshield to obscure my gory demise?
  9. Looking cool so far- but that grille looks more like a '97/'98 than a '99!
  10. I'm just curious if there are any kits or aftermarket sources for passenger car and light truck diesel engines. I'm planning to do a couple of diesel rat rod models, but all I can find are the big-rig diesels. Anything from a 4-cylinder turbo to a 7.3 Powerstroke would work!
  11. Yeah. Call me when you do a rendering of a Top Fuel Trabant funny car. Or, you can just call me if you'd like to chat. (About how cool a rendering of a Top Fuel Trabant would be.)
  12. I've never seen any ribbed, Mopar branded Hemi valve covers,in neither styrene nor resin, but I think Ken is right- SOMEBODY's bound to have a set out sooner or later.
  13. Yeah, Harold- that nose is a pain, installation-wise. I remeber building one years ago, and I managed to get the headlamp buckets up into the holes AFTER I'd glued on the nose, but I doubt I could do it again, much less if I'd WANT to do it!
  14. First time I've seen this one built up! I've always wanted to take one of these and do it up as a street machine.
  15. This is a scratchbuilt body based on a VW Kubelwagen. Hasegawa makes one, but I didn't want to spend the cash on one just now. If somebody made a Thing kit,I'd have probably started with that! Anyway, here it is- I basically just wanted to build a stupid little motorized box with wheels on it. Success!
  16. Oh, yeah! Pro street Olds rockets rule.
  17. And just for future reference, I believe the reissued Monogram (Revell box) '32 Ford Roadster kit has an 8-ball decal for the shift knob, for those who aren't as good at painting small numbers!
  18. Very cool model, and the fact it looks way, way better than my first model (not to mention some of my more recent works) is cool, too.
  19. That's kind of why I've always thought the Hays T-Bird was 1:25. I've never had that one, but I've gone through quite a few of the Monogram '87 Turbos! (I had a 1:1 black '87 5-speed Turbo Coupe another lifetime ago..,)
  20. The more I find out, the more I want 'em!!!!
  21. Perhaps I'm misaken, but wasn't the Hays Thunderbird done in 1:25, while this Monogram Bird is 1:24?
  22. Wow- the guy sure did like his stock cars and light commercial stuff! And people think I'M a nutcase for having a couple hundred kits stashed! (Well, I am a nutcase, but that's beside the point! )
  23. That's what happened with the Pontiac. I started working on it, and before I knew it... "Holy Daybreak, Batman!"
  24. I'm most productive between the hours of ten PM and three AM as far as modeling goes. Then again, this '62 Pontiac was built in one night a year or so ago... the sun was just starting to set when I started on it, and just beginning to rise as I finished it! Reruns of Monster Quest and the progress I was making just kept pushing me onward.
