  1. If you've used nail clippers as sprue cutters... If you think a pocket knife is perfectly acceptable as a hobby knife... If you think "molded in color" is a good thing... If you don't seem to notice the paint is all one big brush stroke...
  2. Slightly altered? Yes. Impeccably built.... DOUBLE yes!!!! Those few relatively minor mods have a pretty big impact on the overall appearance of the finished model, I've never seen a Wagon Rod which looked this good!
  3. This should be good- I still haven't ripped into any of the 1:12 Revell chopper kits I have!
  4. Looks cool with the old-school Gladiator grille!
  5. Here's a rough, quick sketch I did a while back, depicting what I intend to do with an MCRC '53 Metro... 15" chop, 5" out of the crown of the roof, and cut the wheelbase down to 98". Just a quick sketch this time, but gets the job done!
  6. Wow... dude... is there anything you aren't exceptional at doing?
  7. Wow... great, great work, especially for your first crack at it! Yeah- I'm with Ed here... keep at it, you'll go places with your dios!
  8. Strange... nobody disputes the old '25 piece' AMT Craftsman style kits from back in the day are models, but for some reason when it's a die cast kit some issues pop up. Wonder why that is?
  9. Finally... a probe someone might look forward to getting! Lovin' what I see!
  10. It's both... die cast AND a model! People who think they're not 'real' models just because some of the work's done for you are just being elitist. I look at it like this... SOME assembly required is still more fun than none at all!
  11. What if you took a woody, removed the backseat, then blocked off the rear windows? Would that be a woody, a panel van, or both? Or neither?
  12. Just added it to my Fotki links!
  13. Must be the old Jo-Han kit?
  14. You could always work on both! Then, by the time you've gotten better at the basics, you'll be well prepared for the next level!
  15. You're right. I've always been a fan of the 'do more with less' mentality. Sometimes it just has more to do with being inventive and stretching the boundaries a bit than with spending big bucks on tools and supplies!
  16. Uh.... other than the dash and front end sheetmetal, and a few other minor trim pieces, a '51/'52 Ford truck is the same thing to a '48-'50. Kitchen Table resins does a '51/'52 dash and grille for the Monogram and Revell '50 kit.
  17. I've never seen the Slix decals on a model, but with results like what you got- I'd say why bother!
  18. That reminds me... I do plan on building one of those Ulrich Mini-Men into a replica of Seth Rogan!
  19. I knew a guy with a '67- his ignition key was two wires dangling from under the dash! The old 240 six wouldn't boil the hides, but it was still running like a top when the cab mounts got rotted out so badly the cab was actually resting on the steering shaft!
  20. I once told a girlfriend "Would you rather I spend my money and time on model cars, or on crack and strippers?" When I put it like that, suddenly my hobby didn't seem so bad to her! Then again, she's not my girlfriend NOW, so I'll see if it works on the next one, too.
  21. Sorry... one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer is my secret recipe!
  22. Oh yeah... this oughtta be good!
  23. Tough call sometimes, but in this case, I'd say jump on it! Every time I see a model at a really killer price and think "Meh- I'll wait on it", it's gone the next time I go into the shop or check the website! $40 is pretty good for that kit.
