Ford and it's 'daughters', Mercury and Lincoln. It's funny, a few of my buddys and I were talking about this subject a few days ago, and they all know I'm a Ford guy, and they were asking about all the GM, Mopar, and import models I've built. Huh. Guess I'm a "Model Car Guy" first, and a "Ford Guy" second!

Wow... that is cool! I've only had the recent reissues of this kit, which only have the back panel of the camper. I'm going to have to track down this issue of the kit!

Sweet indeed! Who'd have thunk a gigantic Cadoo would look so good as a funny car? And the forward tilting body would be great if your pit crew forgot to strap it shut before you made a pass!

This is the same basic kit which was reissued by Model King a few years back- it's about on par with the '64 Comet kit. I have one somewhere that I've added the '60 Starliner chassis and floor to, but it's a long way from being done. I also cut open the hood- I will say be careful here, because the plastic is pretty thick!

What's not to be happy about? Mean stance, cool color, sweet side-steer setup... I can't see a single thing wrong with it.

A Stude hovercraft!? NOW I've seen everything! No, wait... I've never seen a talking spider... so I guess I've seen JUST ABOUT everything. Very cool. One idea- instead of painting the rod black, maybe try replacing it with a clear one? Perhaps just a length of polished clear kit sprue... you've GOT to have some of that on hand, right?

Shhhhhhhhhhsh! He's still sanding the body, and possibly trying to devise a way to recycle those reinforcing rods to cobble up a roll cage!

But, man.... could you imagine if these 'newer' Pochers were done to the same level of detail as, say, the old Bugattis? My brain would melt if I opened the box on something like that...

Oh, yes, that's Emerald Envy, or whatever thay call it. I'd originally toyed with black/ red interior, but I thought it would look too much like something Tony Soprano's dad would have driven! I dug out my old '66 promo last night... seems that the promo shares quite a few parts with the '69 kit, yet virtually nothing with any of the '65 kits I have. The dash appears to be exactly the same as in the '69 kit as do the stock wheel covers, and the chassis, aside from the lack of screw holes and the thin wire axles instead of the promo's fat, knurled metal rods, appear to be identical. Leads me to wonder if the '69 kit tooling still exists, since it seems totally different from the '65's...? I sure hope so!

I've noticed that, too- there are some truly incredible French cars, but the number seems a bit low. Sheesh, GM's Buick division has a few more lovelies in it's family album than does the entire French automobile industry!

Yes... but only on the driver's side! The car was like that when I bought it in 2002- no idea why they never stenciled him onto the other quarter panel! Oh, and Romell... glad to see I'm not the only guy who brings car parts into the house on occasion!

Steve... '61, '62, '63, '64, '67, and '68 are the only ones I'm missing from that body style! (Unless you don't count promos... then I'm short a '66, too! ) Not sure why I've been refering to them as Hurst spokes- maybe because I'd originally considered running Hurst mags on it? Or maybe I'm just a moron. I do have to say, it was weird building this kit, the whole time thinking "Wow- this kit is 13 years older than I am, and it's just been sitting around for 41 years, not being built!" I have to say it's quite a strange feeling!

I've never seen a 'late model' Pocher kit- I'm intrigued!

Yes, this is an original AMT annual kit. And yes, I 'ruined' it by building it. I regret nothing... I think it looks way better like this than it did as a bunch of styrene lumps in a box! It is mostly box stock, aside from the '25 T kit Lincoln valve covers, '65 Lincoln custom exhaust manifolds, the '66 Buick air cleaner, and the Hurst mags from a '66 Mercury kit. I also lowered it by drilling the axle holes higher in the chassis. Wonder if the tooling for this one still exists, in some form? (There are many identical parts with this and the '66 promo I have, but not a lot of similarity with the oft-reissued '65 kit...)

I've posted this before, but I finally got around to taking some decent photos of it, so I thought I'd drag it out one more time. It's a 1:25 diecast promo, which I disassembled and weathered.

Haven't seen this one until now, very cool! Now... when are you going to build a Horn Toad?
