  1. I once told a girlfriend "Would you rather I spend my money and time on model cars, or on crack and strippers?" When I put it like that, suddenly my hobby didn't seem so bad to her! Then again, she's not my girlfriend NOW, so I'll see if it works on the next one, too.
  2. Sorry... one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer is my secret recipe!
  3. Oh yeah... this oughtta be good!
  4. Tough call sometimes, but in this case, I'd say jump on it! Every time I see a model at a really killer price and think "Meh- I'll wait on it", it's gone the next time I go into the shop or check the website! $40 is pretty good for that kit.
  5. On shelves- in cases- in drawers and boxes... I ran out of room ten years ago, and I still keep building!
  6. Marcos and George- this was originally going to be a shiny, pro-street model, but somewhere along the way plans got shifted! It was even going to have a full chassis and interior and everything! Meh- pretty sure I'll end up with another spare '41 front end and '46 panel body ONE of these days!
  7. Wow. I've got to build an old flip-top funny car one of these days!
  8. That's nothing. I once sprayed a 1:87 scale car body with so many layers of paint it's 1:16 now!
  9. Yes- the Model King kit is a '79. The '67-'72 and '73-'79 generations were similar, structurally, to one another, but had totally different 'skin'. In fact, the R&R kit appears to be a modified AMT ''73-'79, including the incorrect (for the '67-'72 version) later interior!
  10. This is just me using the awful R&R casting procedures to my best advantage! The cab was short shot (short poured?), had many thin spots and air bubbles, and the parts didn't fit very well. I decided to not fix these things, and instead use them to contribute to the model's worn-out, crusty demeanor.
  11. Looks just plain gorgeous, John! Still, I have to wonder how she'd look layed out low, with a six-carb early Cad V8 sticking out of an open hood!
  12. Even if you are, in fact, doing it totally wrong, as I pride myself in doing!
  13. Are those seats from the '62 Catalina kit?
  14. I can vouch for this, but being as you're doing this in HO scale (my hat's off to you for that!), it won't help much!
  15. Hendrix kits are generally pretty good as far as casting quality goes. One gripe is, they don't plate their parts like Modelhaus does, so you'll need the Alclad or the services of your favorite plater.
  16. And they appear to have female pelvises! Let me check my backyard- I might have a few skeletons for ya... wait. Small scale? Sorry, can't help you there!
  17. Skip- I'd go with Volkenbatt! Jim- Might be in the cards, all I'll say is stay tuned!
  18. I just enjoy gluing odd shapes of plastic together into small, car-shaped replicas. If other people like 'em, fine, if not, that's cool too! As long as I enjoy it, that's all I'm concerned with!
  19. That would be my old '81 F-250, which will one day donate it's 4wd drivetrain to a less-rusty '94 cab and bed.
  20. Welcome aboard... and you just might have the coolest last name in history!
  21. Here's a fun way to dispose of leftover parts... take a spare '41 Chevy truck nose, '46 Chevy Sedan Delivery body, '57 IH pickup frame, a parts pack Pontiac 421 engine, and some other cast-off scraps, and you just might end up with something like this...
  22. Here's my latest VW rat, based loosely on a Revell Convertible Beetle body, set up on a scratchbuilt frame, and powered by a 1.6 liter Scirocco engine. The rest is all leftover junk from the spares box.
  23. Wasn't sure about the foil treatment at first, but I've decided I dig it.
  24. I think he's got it right- George- that little bit along the firewall is body color, and all the rest is black. Cool- puts all my '66 models to shame!
  25. There's a certain level of 'functional beauty' in the Rebel's design, and I think you nailed it with your model. Shame we'll probably never see this one back on hobbby shop shelves.
