  1. It blew off along US-127 back around '95, we went back and looked for it, but it was dark and we couldn't find it! Right... but this model represents a car with an engine, even though it does not actually have one. Kind of like an old Craftsman series kit, you know? And I might actually add an engine later on, so I can weather the engine compartment and engine to match the body's condition. But yeah- I've got a '70 Monte Carlo model somewhere, with the hood hinges standing at attention and the nose way up in the air- just wasn't the look I wanted with THIS particular kit!
  2. Kenny- Another stunner, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who likes that Chevelle EFI setup. I've used that puppy on everything from the inteded Big Block Chevys to Ford Flathead V8s. Bob- A nice pic of a gorgeous car- that's only the second notch Cuda I've ever seen. Not so sure about those late model F-150 wheels, though...
  3. I love it, but I'm especially amazed at how convincing you made that simplified engine look in the completed model! I'm not a huge fan of late model luxury-sports cars, but after reading the article on it and seeing this post, I might just have to change my ways...
  4. I likes me a beat-up convertible!
  5. I've had my eye on that kit for a little while now. It looks soooo cool as a rat!
  6. I've seen the Revell Hurst/Olds done up as a beautiful replica stocker, converted to a hardtop with an AMT '70 Monte Carlo roof (I've got one of those on the bench myself!), and I even know a local guy who's building one as a pro-tourer. But I've never seen one done as a beater, and since it's been a very long time since I built a full-blown beater, I thought why not use the new Revell Olds kit? Yeah- I probably should have thrashed the interior a bit more, and maybe added a few dents and dings, but for a two-evening build, I am not going to complain too much. Oh- there's no engine- I robbed the 455 for another project!
  7. Same goes for Jeff's IH Metro kit!I only wish there were more guys like Kevin and Jeff out there bringing long-dead resin stuff back to life!
  8. Few things cooler than a full-bodied '70's Ford yacht!
  9. About time!
  10. Couldn't you just tell 'em "Hey, I'm Art freakin' Anderson here!"? If I were an exec at Moebius, that would be reason enough for me!
  11. Nothin' more than good old Krylon Rust Tough Flat Black- my standard flat black of choice for 99% of my projects. Some take it way too seriously... but I will never be one of THOSE guys!
  12. The more of your resin stuff I see, the more I hate being broke! Very cool build of a very cool truck.
  13. I like that idea too, but the booklet would be a real boon for modelers who still don't have full-time 'net access, and besides, it would just be a cool thing to have.
  14. Not sure... just some nasty old Rustoleum Semi Gloss rattle can stuff I had handy.
  15. I keep telling myself I've got to do a 1:8 scale model one of these days... more of this and I'll be totally convinced!
  16. Here we've got a quick simple 'time killer' build up of an old Jo-Han oldie- the '60 Plymouth Wagon kit. I added a few parts box bits to it, added the inner fenders from a scrap AMT '57 Chrysler body (the kit has no inner fenders- the engine bay is wide open!), replaced the Lego block engine with a 413 from an AMT '49 Merc, and basically just tried to build it with as little effort as possible.
  17. Funny... I was working on another model Scout model based on a similar thought (minus the Transtar stacks, though). All I'll say is stay tuned...

    My Avanti

Incredible job on a gorgeous car. It's hard to believe the other Studebakers being made during the original Avanti's life span were such stuffy looking things!
  19. Art- Any hints on what the box art might be like? Are they going to include any 'bonus' goodies, like maybe a little booklet with color reference photos for the interior and engine compartment? THAT would really up the ante!
  20. Hmmm... AMT used to sell MPC, Heller, and even Aoshima kits under their own branding... maybe they can tool up some Vector wheels and a bully bar for Revell's kit and market it in their own boxes, with the existing decal sheet!
  21. Ah... the return of the glow in the dark model kit! And this would be, what, the 80th reissue of the Dukes Charger over the last five years or so?
  22. Call me a fat, stupid Yankee, but I've always thought the most interesting thing about soccer are the riots that always break out after a game- no matter the outcome. Shame you had to get sucked into all of that stupidity. Yeah- I'd reccomend relocating, too- even if it's only to a differnt house or apartment complex.
  23. The more I see these old Barris models, the more I like them. As usual, killer job, John!
  24. Hope you can beg or borrow some 'net time while you're there... I go into modeling forum withdrawal after a few hours!
  25. I've got every issue of HRD except the very first one- and every so often, they even cover a few models!
