  1. So far, so good, Fletch. It's nice to see AMT back in the hands of people who give a ###### about our hobby! Hopefully gone are the days of endless reissues of the same fifty kits and new tools that weren't worth the expense to produce! I've noticed this too- a few of the shops I frequent no longer even carry AMT stuff- at least not currently. My most "local" LHS has been getting quite a few Revell kits in, but just recently with the Round 2 stuff (that's where I JUST got the Class Action Monte Carlo). One shop owner was planning to discontinue stocking RC2 kits because of the lack of quality. Even he is coming around. I myself stopped buying AMT kits for a couple of years- only recently have I rejoined the dark side! And many of my modeling buddies are checking out AMT again.
  2. Just when I think I've grown tired of this kit- BAM- Revell does it again! Now I will soon have a case or six of THESE to go with my roadsters, three-windows, and sedans. I don't think these were "kits of the millennium"like a lot of guys do, but they are very good. They've become like Kryptonite to me- I am powerless in their presence! (BTW- I think the old Palmer Model Ts were the REAL kits of the millennium! Why? Because I haven't slept in six or seven days, and the idea is really beginning to make sense. That, and the refrigerator told me so!)
  3. No... unfortunately, I had at least THREE of them before you guys set me straight. That third model...It was horrible- just horrible! Who knew the screams of 1/25 figures could be so heartrending?!
  4. loveitloveitloveitloveit.... (keep repeating for 8 or 9 years)
  5. Krylon Rust Tough Flat Black... Oh, wait a minute... you want it to look GOOD. Can't help you there, Harry!
  6. Go with the black. I'm not sure about the taillamp bezels, but they look better with the blacked out panel.
  7. It's also good for scaring away those annoying trespassers. (Wear a dirty kitchen apron and a leather mask for the full effect.)
  8. Whoa- this kit actually CAN look good! Way to prove a lot of people (including me) wrong! Maybe I won't build mine into a dirt track bomber now...
  9. I love this one, man! As a Ford guy, I'm beyond sick of seeing Chebby-powered Fords (and Mopars). I don't think a single one of my Chev models has a Chev engine in it!
  10. Allow me to heap more weight on the "Epoxy Bandwagon"- I prefer to use it on all chromed parts. Unless they're getting cleared with the body- then I may use super glue. But since you are repairing a built model, I'd go with the epoxy here.
  11. He just wanted to make sure we didn't miss it, Steve!
  12. That, or I was half asleep! It happens sometimes, I'll go to a post, make a comment, and have no memory of it whatsoever later.... hey.... who are you people and what are you doing in my house!? Wait a minute... this isn't my house... Uh-oh... (SERIOUSLY, though, Alyn- I have no idea how I gaffed up like THAT- I mean, I've only looked at the photos ten or twenty thousand times- it should be BRANDED into my memory by now!)
  13. Yeah- I'm quoting my own post, because the last sentence of the first paragraph is no longer true. Looks like I have at least two rod models in my stash with 1/4 eliptics that are gonna need some radius rods....
  14. Are those the Weld Mountain Crusher/49" Iroks from So Real? I used a set of those on an AMT-Model King '79 F-350, and I loved 'em! I only wish I'd have bought eight or nine more sets...
  15. I think ya meant ARDUN (a contraction of Arkus-Duntov), but, yeah, I had the same question. I see plug wires- where do they go? Be that as it may, I love this kit, and I love seeing it done up to this level. The color in particular really pops on this truck.
  16. Hard to go wrong with a '40 Ford. Nicely done!
  17. I'd rather see the Olds variant (with or without Vista panels), but I'd take one of these if it were available.
  18. Neither have I, trouble is, I suck at graphic programs. So if I picked up the pencil and pad again, I'd be terrible, and if I clicked on the mouse in a Photoshop type program, I'd be far worse.
  19. I must agree with fordh8r... despite the fact he may have the worst screen name ever! That came out beautiful, Bob! (Naturally, I'm kidding with you h8r!)
  20. The easiest way to get a four link rear under this car would be to use the floor pan and rear assembly from an AMT Pro Street '70 Super Bee or '68 Road Runner. While you're at it, you could add the SB/RR inner fenders, firewal, ect, as well as net some speed parts for a Hemi.
  21. Dude- this one is coming together nicely. I say keep the bomber seats (I'd like them more if they had more holes in them, but that's just me!) I really like the door panel surgery you performed! Unrelated note: We have the exact same 'star pattern' cutting mats! Everyone who's seen mine looks at it like it's from Neptune or something.
  22. Ah, the quarter eliptic spring setup, few things look cooler on a rod! One minor thing- I'm not sure radius rods are necessary with such a setup, since the springs themselves locate the axle- at least I've never seen a quarter eliptic set up with radius rods. Are you going to run tube or early-Ford style friction shocks?
  23. Man, I LOVE the grille! That's the most killer nose I've seen on a scale rod in a very long time!
  24. How the H-E-double hockey stick did I miss THAT? Still... don't want to know. Again, great setup with the headlamps. Way to prove the naysayers (if there were any) wrong... this is a sweet little street rod!
