A few I'd like to share
Chuck Most replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Forgot this one. It's not a model, it's Tim's 1:1 '70 Diamond REO SBFA. And yes, he is planning on building a model of it. -
They're all over the internet. The Apple Cabin Foods flyers are great too.

Physiotherapy?

Nice! As for the "creature on the roof" idea,... did you ever watch King Of The Hill? -
1980 Ford F150
Chuck Most replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys. A few here and there. I cut off the oil pan pin so the engine would sit down closer to the crossmember, otherwise the fan and belt would interfere with the fit of the radiator shroud. The pins on the rear leaf springs don't line up very well with the holes on the chassis. Overall though, nothing too terrible. -
Truck Kits You've Scored Recently

Two Raiders, one with a forward-set axle, and one with a set back front axle. The setback one looks like it might be an old Gortsema casting. -
I've got a couple of Heller kits, and a few of them have the glass molded in with the inner door panel. A bit unorthodox perhaps, but it seems to work okay.

Just met up today with Tim Gibson of Saginaw, MI. He's a lifelong truck enthusiast, retired truck driver, and as I found out today, an all-around nice guy. If you read "Truck Stop" in the other mag years ago, you might remember the GMC Astro pulling twin tankers built by him. He still has that one (you can kind of see the trailers in the top left corner of the first pic). Some time ago he sent me some photos of a few of the models he's built. He has an account here but he admits to not being very tech-savvy at the moment, so that's where I come into play... This is the James House and Sons Number 85 Diamond Reo, pulling two powdered cement trailers which were built by James House (part of Rex Transportation) at their own shop. These two REO mixers represent real mixers owned by Anderson Sand and Gravel and Saginaw Rock Products, respectively. The Ford stake bed is box stock other than the Quality Door & Lumber markings. The Anderson GMC Crackerbox represents a tractor driven by Tim's father. It is Spaulding cab cut down to a day cab. Both trailers were scratch built. Tim tells me his father made the effort to keep his rigs clean, though the model is lightly weathered and looks great as such. The U-shaped tank behind the cab is a combination fuel/hydraulic tank. The tractor has no sidesaddle tanks. The Pete is a model of a tractor owned by a friend and leased to Bulk Transport. Tim also did a pair of scratchbuilt gravel trailers for this one. The kit cab was cut down to 73 inches. The real tractor has very little brightwork and lots of red paint, so the model follows suit. He does have quite a few more, but these are the ones I have pics of. Let me tell you- they look pretty good on a screen but they look even better in person!

Nothing much to say here... it's a two-Saturday-afternoon buildup of the Revell Ford "Ranger" Pickup (even though the truck's clearly badged as a custom...), box stock other than the addition of a MAD distributor and an upper radiator hose made from electrical wire. Paint is Testors Star Spangled Blue. Not my best effort, but I know exactly how I'll tackle the improvements and enhancements on the next one I build. For one thing... looks like I forgot to paint the tailgate chains... I'll take care of that later.

Possible project?

Do you know what company built the tanker body? -

Would have been downright stupid to pass on it for that price. Even if a ProStar's not what you want, you'd have some really nice trade fodder for somebody. -

Moebius ' 54 Hornet update 10/31 Chassis finished
Chuck Most replied to smellyfatdude's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice! Foiling the '54 is a cakewalk compared to foiling a '52 or '53. Lot's less intricate trimwork in the greenhouse. But yeah, the convertible is easiest of them all. -

Sweet! Kind of has a rainbow Fruit Roll-Up look with that multihue paint. Probably doesn't taste nearly as delicious, though....- 23 replies

Truck Kits You've Scored Recently

I've been trying to curb the space issue by getting more 1:32 stuff. My advice to anyone thinking of doing the same is... don't. -

The original builder glued the sleeper doors on backwards, but since I don't intend to use the sleeper, no big deal. All the painted parts are in the Purple Pond as I type this. -

Now, before everybody gets all excited, keep in mind this thing is an $8 parts lot... I'm still pretty pleased with the transaction, to be honest. -
Thanks guys! Not sure if I'll make it to NNL this year, Tim, I'll have to see what the work schedule holds. It's "crunch time" this time of year in my industry. Harry- nothing more than thinned black paint on the wheels and hubcaps. Isn't that the one used in that Orkin TV ad from a few years ago? Because that's exactly where I got the idea for the chopped '37 grille.
