  1. Nice! Now you just need a '60 Mercury and a '60 Lincoln to go with them.
  2. The Louisville axle is a near-duplicate of the one in the C-Series kits, so... short answer would be yes.
  3. Just doing a little thread necromancy to encourage you to get back at this one.
  4. Where the Q ship stands as of tonight... Spare decals from a Revell Datsun 510 have been applied, trim around the windows has been foiled (have yet to black out the pillars), and the mirrors are on. Taillight panel has been detail painted. For some reason it reminds me of the back end of a '92-'99 Olds Delta 88. I'm going to try for a better, straight edge on the window borders, but the rear view mirror and wiper are installed. I also tinted the rear side windows and backlight.
  5. I like what I see so far! I've had a mind to do a "lead sled" style Mini, seeing this one go together might inspire me to finally try it.
  6. The Q is now wearing a BRE 46 inspired paint scheme. Some touch-up here and there is required, and I'm planning to use a few markings from the Revell Datsun 510 kit, but I'm actually almost pleased with how it came out.
  7. I wasn't talking about the lack of an explosion being the result of time and budget restrictions- that was aimed more at the movie's other shortcomings. The lack of an explosion was just a nice little twist.
  8. That's one thing I like about the movie- the rig did NOT explode at the end. Having it plunge over the cliff and then explode would have been oh-so-cliche. It was a '70's made-for-TV movie, so I'm sure time and budget constraints are factors in it being a bit less than perfect.
  9. 1951 Studebaker Commander. Unless somebody beat me to it, then Plan B would be the Reliant Robin.
  10. But one less turbo would add some of it back. I think. Maybe.
  11. Black it out, add a turbo and a 6-speed manual... maybe AWD just for added kink factor... and you'd have a modern-day GN.
  12. The Lions have never been to The Super Bowl. One of only four NFL teams to have that dubious honor, if I'm not mistaken. They did win an NFL championship, but that was before it was called Super Bowl, so nobody cares.
  13. I'll just leave these here to lighten the somber mood a bit.
  14. Work returns to the Q. The interior is more or less dialed in. Still a bit of detail painting and touch ups to do, but this is pretty much what the final product will be. The steering wheel and front seats came from an Aoshima parts pack. So did the gauge panel graphic, as I managed to misplace the Q's original decal sheet. The shifter stalk is a turned aluminum piece by Sakatsu. Just had to see how the whole mess would look inside the car... And then, there's this... Maisto's 2005 FX45. This one will likely be left alone for the most part, though I may add a receiver hitch to have it tow an old Datsun race car.
  15. Cut the guy a little slack.... usually when a Camaro owner can scrape up 150k, he spends it on spicing up his meth lab, not the car.
  16. I finished this model back in November of 2010, but since hearing of the passing of David Bowie earlier today, I wanted to blow the dust off of it and show it again. It's name, Space Oddity, is obviously borrowed from Bowie's 1969 hit. It has a heavily modified '78 Dodge truck cab, but the remainder of the model is basically cast-offs from various glue bombs and other projects, along with a few scratchbuilt components. The idea is a kind of sci-fi rat rod. About all I remember from the build is dusting the forward portions of the model in thinned flat black paint, to give it a charred look, as if it had fallen through the Earth's atmosphere, or something like that. Who knows? Maybe it brought back the presumed-to-be-dead Major Tom? I also remember having a blast building it, and I still love seeing it on the shelf, even though if I had built it today, it would likely be an entirely different animal.
  17. The single greatest rock star of all time as far as I'm concerned. And by "rock star" I mean the whole package- the music, the live show, the attitude, the presence, the persona... and Mr. Bowie shape-shifted through quite a number of personas during the course of his career. Nobody did it better. Alice Cooper comes close, Marilyn Manson comes close, but nobody ever personified the idea of a "rock star" to me as much as David Bowie. Yes, 69 is way way WAY too young...
  18. I did a little bit on the Q today but nothing really photo-worthy. The J, on the other hand, almost sort of looks like a car now...
  19. *Blows dust off thread* *Taps on the thread a couple of times* *Jiggles the switch* *Thread lets out a barely audible hum* IT STILL WORKS! Yes, the Q45 has been seeing some action for the first time in about three years, over the course of the last couple of weeks. And the reason why it's been seeing action is because I have a second Infiniti project, and working on that one kind of got me inspired to dig out the Q and get some work done. This is Aoshima's "New Trend USA" release of the J30, which was pictured earlier on in this thread. As with the Q, there's no way I'm building it stock- the Hoppin' Hydros large-diameter wire wheels may or may not end up being what I use on it, but I am leaning in that direction. Paint is Testors One Coat Star Spangled Blue. Other than the removal of mold lines and shaved (or rather, filled) door handles, the body as you see it is pretty much the way it comes out of the kit. I'm hoping this will be a relatively quick and easy means of stash removal, but I had a similar plan in mind with the Q, and here it has sat, unfinished for three-plus years, so... In the background you can see the Q, which is finally wearing a coat of paint. Again, I went with something from the Testors One Coat line- White Lightning this time. I'm thinking I can do a BRE style paint scheme using that as a base, along with Revving Red and some more Star Spangled Blue. Again, I suppose we'll see. Maybe the next update on this won't be three years away...
  20. I've said it a few times already, but I'll say it again, I'm good for a couple of these just for that Buzzin' Dozen engine. I'm pretty sure I can come up with a use or two for the remainder.
  21. That much I don't know. I'd imagine it would be a similar process to a GM-based Mercury Marine engine.
  22. One thing off about the article. The Seamaster engine was based on the 534, but it was not a Ford product. In all the literature I've been able to find, there's no mention of the Seamaster being sold directly through Ford. Seamaster also did a seafaring version of the Ford 300 six, as well as a non-turbocharged 534. I'm thinking of doing a crated twin turbo as a load for the flatbed version of the kit.
  23. Since Revell won't reissue the long bed regular cab and a stock '50 is always nice to have on hand...
  24. Here are a few that never quite made the cut last year. 1:32 5-ton wrecker, done as it may appear in ex-military service for a contractor. IH Paystar 5000- not shown with the also not-finished Peerless Roadrunner log trailer. This one also has a sleeper now. Autocar A64F Diamond Reo SBFA single drive White Road Boss
